About Me
Welcome to my little page! I'm sure there are various reasons as to why you are here, but I would figure you'd like to learn something about me, so let me help you with that.My name is Jawn, and I'm a radio personality on Evolution 107.9 FM in downtown Vancouver!
I love everything about hockey- namely, the Vancouver Canucks. I'm an amateur "journalist" I suppose, in that I am the author of the sports-blog, "The Orca Zone." I am also a host and producer of the online radio talkshow, NucksTalk, which is hosted on BlogTalkRadio.
As you can probably guess, I aspire to be a future sportscaster in any of the major networks; but the dream job would be to call play-by-play for the Vancouver Canucks. It's going to be a long and slow process, but I'm very much looking forward to the journey. And thanks to the BCIT Radio Program, I'm getting my first big break by participating in some play-by-play broadcasts of the Burnaby Express of the BCHL in the upcoming 2009-2010 season!
I've made a lot of great friends in a short amount of time, and I've had the pleasure of meeting, and being critiqued on my on-air performance by Don Taylor and Craig MacEwen. I've also met Evanka Osmak, Dan Murphy, David Rashford, Brian Adler, and countless other influential Canadian broadcasters-- not to forget our very own Kristen Reid of CDC!
My greatest influence is Socrates, the Greek philosopher. He once said that an unexamined life is not worth living, and I completely agree with that statement. It's nearly 2,000 years old, but it speaks volumes even today. Every person is capable of achieving the impossible and chasing their dreams. There will be sacrifices and pain is inevitable, but I believe that through experiences of all kinds, that a person can grow into a better, stronger human being.
I hope this /helps/ in answering some of the questions you have for me. If not, feel free to ask either through PM or contacting me at my email. I'm a very friendly guy, and I'll toss in a free Evolution 1079 sticker in it for you!
Cheers, and regards
Canorcas
