Perfect 2010-2011 Lineup to Win a Cup and Start a Great Future

Playoff Lineup:

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows

Raymond - Kesler - Samuelsson

Malhotra - Schaefer - Torres

Oreskovich - Morrison - Hansen

Hamhuis - Ehrhoff

Ballard - Bieksa

Edler - Salo

Luongo

Schneider

Notes:

Samuelsson and Torres could switch lines if needed

Morrison would get good powerplay time

On Line 1: Our same old defensively responsible 1st Sedin line with an amazing scoring punch.

On Line 2: Speedy up and coming players Ryan Kesler and Mason Raymond highlight a great line exclamated by snipers Mikael Samuelsson or Raffi Torres

On Line 3: Shutdown line. That can score.

On Line 4: Defensively responsible, a little scoring touch and a 4th line that won't cost us too many goals.

On Pairing 1: Defensively sound Hamhuis with Two Way D-Man Christian Ehrhoff. This pairing would also be great on the power play.

On Pairing 2: Hard hitting shot blocking Keith Ballard is paired with another hard hitting defenseman, Kevin Bieksa.

On Pairing 3: Our closers (to close out games). Possibly on of the best up and coming defensemen, Alex Edler is paired with a solid veteran, Sami Salo.

** Salo would be played less because of threat of injury and Bieksa would also be played less because he is not as consistent on D. The pairings would be shuffled and could then look like this if both are being rested

Hamhuis - Ballard

Ehrhoff - Edler

All 4 of these players are capable of 25 minutes a night (not saying they will get.)

Seeing the Moose led with top forward prospects Cody Hodgson, Jordan Schroeder, and Sergei Shirokov, they have a chance to win a Calder Cup, while giving our prospects the smooth transition to pro they deserve.

replace schaefer with hodgson (depends on what comes of his recovery and preseason) to look like this...

Torres-Malhotra-Hodgson

I think adding hodgson would make it a true shutdown line that can score because obviously there is torres and malhotra with the shutdown roles, hodgson can learn the defensive ways in the NHL alongside them, while he provides the pure offensive playmaking talent.

Just a thought and still a possibility but probably only realistic this year in a perfect world.

Wow. Basically another thread. Except this time someone made it an elaborate post and dubbed it the "perfect" roster. It's not perfect and we won't know who even should be on the team until the end of preseason.

And if I were to critique it, Schaefer should not make the team. He has lost a step and is years removed from the NHL. Plus moving Malholtra from center for him is retarted. He was one of the best faceoff men and defensive centers in the league. Why would you move him? That's what he was brought in for.

And if you wanted a true shutdown 3rd line, switch Hansen and Torres. Torres is not a defensive player at all. He is more offensively minded. Hansen at least is a decent two-way player.

You are 12? Wow. Schaefer should not be centre on the third line. They are paying Malhotra to play centre and use his face-off skills otherwise the lineup is not terrible.

One thing though how do those salaries fit in with the cap?

i think with the cap space left  this would be good 1st DANIEL  HENRIK  BURRS 2nd RAYMOND KESLER  SAMMUELSON 3rd GLASS  MALHOLTRA  TORRES 4th RYPIEN HODGESON  SHROEDER...assuming hodgeson and shroeder finsh with a good camp

they would get alot of pp and alot of players that could change from 2nd 3rd and 4th lines if needed during games... was just a quick thought

why not?

They (schroeder, prbly not hodgson) would grow much more playing 1st line in manitoba at around 18 minutes per game than to play 3 minutes on the 4th line.

Who drop's the gloves when Hank or Danny get gooned??

No real tough guys there.

AV will not play that lineup without someone to drop the mitts.

id rather have morrison or schaefer on the 4th but there is no cap space for them. and i dont think we really need horidichuk in most games all he can do is fight.. rypien is younger better and fights the big guys too

They could.

If we could get rid of KB then it makes perfect sense.

You're asking to be scored on with Hordichuk and Rypien together ; terrible line combo.

How can you guys leave Glass off either 3rd or 4th line? +5, fast, tough, most hits on the team last year, fore checks like no one ... why Rypien, because he is small and .... what? Sure he is crazy and drops the gloves anytime. But has a hockey player first? No way Rypien even dresses unless you are playing the 74/75 Flyers.

Looks good other than Schaefer on the third line center position. He won't make the team in my opinion. [/quote

schafer is]not good enough
