  1. Punk is getting new entrance music.

Really taking the "Punk" part of his name pretty seriously...what a thrill that must have been for both Punk and Rancid. Good band...Lars Fredriksen is one hell of a ska/punk guitarist....Have all their albums. Gotta say I am disappointed hearing that Cult of Personality has been scrapped...but maybe the WWE figured more people would know who Rancid is than Living Colour..although I kinda doubt that. I'm glad to know they are touring again though, Rancid..might have to check the tour dates. Thanks man.

  2. well the thing with kane, yeah i miss when he was this menacing monster going through everyone, but you can only play that character before management decides to change it up to keep that character relevant, and i think they did a good job with kane. he's at an age now, and he's stated in interviews that he loves his new role with daniel bryan because he never once thought about "kane" being a wacky kind of guy, but he made the best of it and played it well. the whole anger management stuff was great. the hugging it out bits, i thought those were great too. it was so funny because it was so awkward

i agree with you 100% on orton. i loved the whole legend killer thing cause it kinda pissed you off that he would bully all of the legends then kick their heads in, but the way he did the punk kick was so well done with his body movements and facial expressions. i still think he's one of the best workers in the company. i don't buy in to the whole "2 strikes" thing at all. there's lots of reasons why he's not pushed to the top again, and thats mostly because of new talent emerging and there isn't really much plans for him and they have him on the mid card, which is a shame because orton is super over, always gets a great crowd reaction and i'm fine with him being on the mid card. rounds out the roster and gives him some guys to work with, but i think his main concern is are injures

when i said WWE changed with the times, they don't cater to hardcore wrestling fans anymore, and especially the IWC (to their credit they're at least signing all of these indy stars the IWC seem to love) and that community is slowly dwindling. it's always the whole pro wrestling black hole. once wcw went under, where did those 2-6M+ viewers go? they moved on because they didn't really want to invest in to switching over to WWE becase it just wouldn't be the same anymore. some of them may have switched over but mostly, they just moved on. same with WWE, they lost a lot of viewers over the years because of what you said, they found it stale. they didn't like the "family friendly" direction they were going and moved on

vince is a businessman. plain and simple. he wasn't worried about a little competition at all. ECW didn't have the money to compete with WWE and WCW but that was a damn good product, don't get my wrong. as much as i loved the hardcore stuff they did from time to time, they all had quality matches and stars like jericho, eddie, benoit, konnan, storm, and rey mysterio all going through there at one point, those guys could all work and were all super over without dealing with all the hardcore stuff. leave that up to lunatics like the balls', ian and axl rottons, sandman, dreamer, raven, sabu and funk and all those other guys

as for wcw, once the nwo started to get stale and dx started getting hot and austin and bret having their fued, it was a matter of time and vince kept his producted up to date. i still think 1997 was the best year for WWE. you could really feel a change coming with the edgy story lines and the RAW IS WAR arenas looking so grundgy, it was great. i watched a lot of nitro too, but that was mostly for crow sting, but nitro didn't really have that excitement when i was a kid. as i got older, wcw had a damn fine product outside of the nwo but ran that to the ground

even though when vince bought those companies out, he still gave them work during that invasion run then purged the rest and kept some of those guys around. the biggest mistake ever, during that time, was letting raven go, but before that sticking him to die on HEAT. that's one of those "smh" things

i think dreamer's still employed with WWE in some capacity, or at least is on good terms with them

Hey man. totally agree on most of what you said with the major agreement being they made a huge mistake letting Raven go but before that humiliating him by sticking him on Sunday Night Heat. Also wasn't pleased with the way they treated Tazz but that's another rant for another time. Raven is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time mostly because it was through his t-shirts and a little research I discovered the Sandman comic books which became my favorite comic books. Huge Flash fan too but nothing comes close to Sandman for me. anyway, I digress. Dreamer is in good standing with the WWE. He and Joey and RVD and Heyman were all present at this year's Hall of Fame Ceremony. He does not work for them though. He's a regular on the independent circuit and pretty much goes wherever he's needed...guy just loves to wrestle.

  3. I admit that I didn't really pay too much attention to Vince's ECW, mainly because I didnt watch the original ECW. I knew about it and heard stories about it, but I never seen it, I didn't have the channel.

Plus, I assumed the new ECW would be some sort of developmental brand, much like what NXT is now.

Scrapping the hardcore belt was a mistake, because I love the creativity of the 24/7 rule. That was freaking hilarious, watching Crash Holly defending it outside the ring. But I understood, why they had to scrap it. It basically ran its course. You could only do some much with the title that it becomes repetitive.

Dreamer was 40 when his contract was up. Typically, that's when wrestlers decide to hang it up.

Anyway,I need some shut eyes. Don't know why I stayed up this late/early.

I enjoyed the conversation...it's cool to get different viewpoints on things sometimes. for the record, Dreamer is 42 now and continues to work for various independent promotions...I don't think he'll be hanging it up anytime soon. He just loves to wrestle. Perhaps it's the Terry Funk influence, or the fact that Funk mentored Dreamer during the Hardcore Legend's stints in ECW...but I don't think Dreamer is done yet..not by a VERY long shot.

  4. 1. Just saying its debatable that you can say AJ is the face of the company, because many people feel he is the face of the company. He's been there from day one and won practically every championship from the company.

    2. I don't know what mean by Sandman and Dreamer were disrespected. Dreamer won mulitple WWE championship (Hardcore, Intercontential, and Tag). His contract was up and they didn't resign him. In his last match, he was forced to retire (kayfabe), they gave him tv time so could do a farewell speech, as a sign of respect. As for Sandman, well he wasn't really a fit for WWE, since they decided to scarp the Hardcore belt, so he was released. That doesn't mean he was disrespected. If you put it that way, then he was disrespected in TNA as well.

Cmon man...do you not remember that whole Collin Delaney nonsense? Scrapping the Hardcore belt was the worst thing WWE ever did in my opinion...and Dreamer had more talent..more innovation..more heart in him than half the wrestlers on the roster when he was forced to "retire". If the WWE had had an ounce of dignity they would have re-signed him. But whatever, past is past..it's over now and done with. Sandman WAS disrespected in TNA. I never said he wasn't.

Sandman's character...you shave him bald...put a vest on him, give him a goatee a knee brace and take away the Singapore Cane...then give him Mikey Whipwreck's finishing move- Voila..Stone Cold Steve Austin. And since Sandman was doing his schtick LONG before Stunning steve Austin became Stone Cold Steve austin...ironically enough after Austin had misappropriated the Whipper Snapper after losing to Mikey and Sandman in 95 at December to Dismember when Sandman won the ECW title...it seems to me like Austin is merely a hybrid of Whipwreck and Sandman, just as Ryback is merely a hybrid of the War Machine Rhino and Goldberg.

  5. Btw, TNA also had their little crappy duplicate of ECW, in 2010.

BTW, I already knew about that, but thanks. And crappy is your opinion. Your WWE bias is staggering. I watch TNA more often than WWE and I will admit it's because I'm an ECW guy and Taz, the Dudleys, RVD if he'll ever put down the bong..not that there's anything wrong with that ;) but still...I gotta admit it's great seeing them wrestle...hell I even try to catch ROH to see what Rhino's up to...Steve Corino, etc...WWE it seems to me is more about entertainment than wrestling..and I just am more of a fan of wrestling. Raw went to 3 hours and it's the same old crap, again and again, social media hawking, and replays. Booorriiiing.

  6. Honestly, as much as I loathe Cena. I rather have him as a face of a company then some 56 year old, despite him being an Icon in the business. You can argue that AJ Styles is the face of TNA, but the truth is no one can draw a reaction from the crowd as much Sting does, whether he's a heel or face. Heck, even Jeff Hardy draws better reaction than AJ does.

As for ECW situation, RVD and Sabu have no one to blame but themselves for the demise of ECW. RVD was about to get a huge push, when he won the title from Cena at One Night Stand, but he and Sabu fk'd up by deciding to smoke the good stuff while driving. Thus, squashing RVD's push.

    1. I didn't argue that Styles is the face of TNA.

    2. Your blaming of RVD and Sabu for the collapse of an entire company is STUPID. It's stupid. And that doesn't explain why they felt it necessary to disrespect other guys like Sandman and Dreamer. That explanation is for the birds. Vince is a power-mad tyrant who was scared to death of a little competition and then when he took over said competition he naturally made it a laughingstock and probably enjoyed crushing them under his feet.

  7. The WWE has completely mismanaged Kane...turned him from a big scary monster who could have been a dominant force had they pushed him enough into a goofball who seems to only have tag team gold...if even that again...in his future. That was strike one for me. They have totally disrespected Kane and I wasn't pleased with that. They are doing almost the same thing to Randy Orton, who for my money is the best wrestler in that company. They've softened him up and he's not so menacing anymore...he used to be cold, calculating, had no allies (obviously I'm talking about the post Evolution Orton and Legacy really didn't make enough of an impression to warrant inclusion in my example) and now they've seemingly turned him face...ok maybe not completely face but he sure as hell isn't a heel...which is what he was good at. They did the ECW dirty...Tommy Dreamer, one of the most diligent, hard working wrestlers I have ever had the privilege to see wrestle at a live event, Sabu, Sandman, RVD to a lesser extent...they showed these guys ZERO respect and then their campy BS watered down version of ECW on Tuesday nights made me vomit. I'm going to guess TS that you have never seen TNA live...at a house event...because if you had...I think you'd have a bit of a different view on their entertainment value. I caught one of their Charlotte shows a few years back...and that thing was a party from the moment we arrived at the coliseum. WWE may have "changed with the times" your words, not mine...but it certainly hasn't been for the better. I grew up with Smoky Mountain Wrestling. I used to watch wrestling shows on Saturday mornings...both WCW and WWF on a little black and white television set...I was a die-hard WWF fan for many many years...then I discovered ECW...and I guess I'm just the type of guy to root for the underdogs. I knew there was "no chance in hell" the ECW would ever last forever...but I'm gonna be honest I miss it. I miss Joey Styles on commentary...I miss Joel Gertner's narcissism...I miss the Damn Dudleys...I miss Perry Saturn, the late John Kronus, New Jack, Mustapha, hell I even miss CYRUS...these guys put their heart and soul on the line every night..and they weren't doing it for the money...they were doing it because they loved doing what they did. Just to hear Bill Alfonso's annoying whistle again...and my GOD has anyone seen the photo spread (spread being the key word) that Beulah did? I cannot post the link because it certainly is NSFW but google "Beulah McGillicutty pixotna" turn your safe search off and click images.

TS I respect you and you're one of my buds but calling TNA minor league is just asinine.

  8. Lol pretty much. TNA marks overrating him.

I'm sorry...do you have anything useful to add to the discussion or are you just a WWE apologist that can't see the forest for the trees and that being that the WWE sucks now. It's boring, trite, rehashed, PG rated family friendly kiddie bubblegum GARBAGE. At least TNA gives more of a crap about the WRESTLING.

  9. The only reason Kenny's ring work has declined is due to a concussion he suffered in his first match with RVD. Dude's a great worker and he can really go. Is he the best? I wouldn't put him in TNA's Top 10 but that's only because TNA's roster is stacked. I'd easily put him in the top 10 of the WWE atm.

I'd go so far as to say top 5 in the WWE. I don't know if many of you here in this thread watch or keep up with Ring of Honor but Kenny King and Rhett Titus had a hellacious, epic tag team all out brawl with Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas at Best in The World 2012 last year that had so many jaw dropping moments...it was easily one of the best tag team matches I've ever seen from any promotion. Simply unbelievable.

  10. Cause your a Cena fan & Cena is what the WWE pushes as the be all & end all.

If you haven't noticed I have also been calling guys like Del Rio, Barrett, Swagger, exc. Boring and garbage. And I said in my message that they blew most of the WWE roster out of the water.

So you are wrong but alright.

Not sure why there are so many WWE apologists here, I was a way bigger WWE fan then it started to suck, and now its garbage.

I'm with you SK. Raw is an ordeal nearly every Monday night and I agree with your assessment. Kenny King is a phenomenal athlete and even though I'm a huge RVD fan I give the guy credit in the match he took the title away from RVD he was fantastic. He and York I thought would have a nice little rivalry there..but that never really materialized. I was a WWE fan for the longest time then like you I noticed the product begin to get stale. It's gotten incredibly trite and boring and I find myself watching wrestling DVDs more than Raw and Smackdown anymore.

  11. Star Trek: Into Darkness. 7/10 as was noted by an earlier poster the plot holes were incredibly difficult to overlook, wasn't a huge fan of how powerful Spock's character came across while Kirk's character came across as a bit of a wuss, quite frankly. The role reversal, almost..as it seemed most of the movie that Spock was the one in command...which bugged the crap out of me..was almost too much for me to take. Having seen Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan this morning to prepare myself and have the plot line fresh in my mind I was deeply disappointed in the lack of character development of the "Khan" character in this film. Ricardo Montalban's Khan was far more memorable..far less robotic. The special effects were dazzling and Scotty's wit kept me entertained but for the most part this film was all flash and very little substance. And I still can't get the failed concept of Kirk being the one in the decontamination chamber near the end of the film...which I thought was a terrible idea..out of my head.

Oh and Spock yelling "Khan!" after Kirk had died...really? As if they hadn't already bastardized this story enough?

  12. I still remember it was autumn and the moon was shinin'

Our 60 Cadillac was roarin' through Nebraska whinin'

Doin' 120 man the fields was bendin' over

Headin' out for the mountains knowin' we was traveling further

All the fires were blazing and the spinnin' wheels were turnin' turnin'

Had my girl beside me brother brother she was burnin' burnin'

Up walked a Baptist preachin' southern funky school teacher

She had a line on somethin' heavy but we couldn't reach her

We told her that we needed somethin' that would get us goin'

She pulled out all she had and laid it on the counter showin'

All I had to do was lay my money down and pick it up

The cops came bustin' in and then we lit out in our pickup truck go

Get out of Denver baby go go

Get out of Denver better go

Get out of Denver better go go

Get out of Denver cause you look just like a commie

And you might just be a member better

    Get out of Denver better

    Get out of Denver

Well red lights were flashin' and the sirens were a-screamin'

We had to pinch each other just to see if we was dreamin'

Made it to Loveland Pass in under less than half an hour

Lord it started drizzlin' and it turned into a thundershower

The rain kept drivin' but the Caddy kept on burnin' rubber

We kept on drivin' till we ran into some fog cover

We couldn't see a thing somehow we just kept on goin'

We kept on drivin' all night long and then into the mornin'

'Fore it finally lifted when we looked to see where we was at

We're starin' at a Colorado state policeman trooper cat go

Get out of Denver he said go go

Get out of Denver better go

Get out of Denver better go go

Get out of Denver cause you look just like a commie

And you might just be a member better

    Get out of Denver better

Get out of Denver better go

    Oh better better better go

    Hey go

Ah better better go go go go

Cause you look just like a commie

And you might just be a member better

Get out of Denver better go!

  13. I watched They Live last night for the third time after seeing it mentioned in the cheesy movie thread. Rowdy Roddy Piper was absolutely perfect for that role...the plot was a bit lacking and it wasn't the greatest of casts otherwise...but the line "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubble gum...and I'm all out of bubble gum" being delivered by the Hot Rod is well worth watching the movie. Being generous today...6/10.
