  1. Holy crap we don't even know if Miller wants to come here in the first place!!

If management believes that they can sign him to a short term 1-2, maybe even 3 year deal, then let them. He's not going make us any worse than we were last season and if he does then what's the problem, we'll end up with a top 5 draft pick. It'll help steady out Lack and provide Markstrom time to improve his game (given that Marky stays).

There really isn't much of a negative here other than a lot of you who just want us to tank and don't care that Lack can end up as damaged goods. I say sign Miller to a deal no longer than 2 years, maybe 3 if he signs for around 3.5-4 million. Then we will have a stronger Lack along with a Markstrom on the rise (again that's if Marky stays).

  2. Now either Edmonton destroys Leon Draisatil into becoming an average player next season or they go out and sign 1 of Statsny or Richards to a wild contract.

I won't be surprised on July 1st if we hear...

"The Edmonton Oilers have just signed Brad Richards to a 3 year 18 million dollar deal!"

  3. I'd be happy to add Miller to a 2 year deal around 4-5 million per year. If it's 3+ years or 5+ million then no way, there's no point in signing Miller for more than 2 years as Lack will be prime time and Markstrom will be right behind him.

I honestly hope we keep Markstrom though, the guy will be a very good goalie. Melanson will work wonders with him.

  4. Sbisa who rode the pine in the playoffs top 4? I'm not going to say he can't be one, but he's our 7th D until he proves otherwise.

Sbisa will definitely be our 5th defenseman if not higher up, Stanton will be our 7/8th along with maybe Weber. Sbisa was having injury problems last season but has said that he is now 100% cleared and feels like they were just one time injuries.

Sbisa is the type of guy you want playing night in and night out, especially with how physical he can be. Stanton will most likely end up on the outside looking in and Sbisa will be playing in the season opener.

  5. I like the idea of him going to Detroit and convincing AHLex to waive for them. If we're really rebuilding, AHLex may reconsider waiving his NTC to go to a contender.

It's not about him waiving his NTC, it's the fact that management wants to keep Edler as of now and Edler really wants to stay in Vancouver.

Linden has said positive things about Edler many times and he's said that he wants to keep him, meanwhile Benning has also added in positive things about Edler.

Edler is going to be here next season, deal with it.

  6. How to Train Your Dragon 2 (3D)- 8.5/10

Great movie, I thought the first one was better but the movie was still very good. The animation on this one is amazing, the way the dragons looked and everything was very cool. The 3D effects weren't as great as the first one, but they were still good. The villain in this movie was a badass, very devious but he wasn't in the movie enough for me. The ending was awesome though, Toothless was super cool. It dragged at certain points but it was still an entertaining animated movie.

  7. Star Trek: Into Darkness 3D- 9.5/10

This movie was so awesome! The 3D effects were fantastic, I was closing on many occasions as it looked things were actually flying out at me. The action was well paced and it looked great. The movie really didn't have any boring parts, except I did think it was maybe 5-10 minutes too long. Alice Eve is really hot and adds +1 on her own. Khan was pretty badass, I also enjoyed Kirk and Spock. Just a great movie to watch, I'm not even that into Star Trek but I enjoy these movies. Into Darkness was so much better than the first one.

  8. 22 Jump Street- 8.5/10

The movie was hilarious, but I thought 21 Jump Street was much better. I was not a fan of the villain or Schmidt's girlfriends roommate. The roommate specifically was very annoying and her old man jokes were just so lame. Channing Tatum was stellar and Ice Cube was hilarious, Cube had one fantastic scene. Jonah Hill was funny as usual, the movie overall was very funny but 21 Jump Street was funnier and had better characters.

Also the ending of 22 Jump Street was not even close to being as good as 21 Jump Street, the credit scenes were awesome for this movie though.

  9. Got an e-mail from Sony/Playstation saying we are able to download the new UFC video games demo, have yet to do it.

Also did anyone see the trailer for Mortal Kombat X, I'm fairly certain that wasn't actual in-game footage but it still looked badass.

  10. A Million Ways to Die in the West- 8/10

The movie was actually really funny, NPH was hilarious. You cannot go into this movie expecting a great story, smart jokes, or anything like that. The movie contains crude humour and a whatever story. What the movie does give is some awesome jokes based on the Western Frontier. Also the movie looks really good, it was just good to look at in general. There are jokes used that were in the trailers but those weren't the funniest ones, there were numerous better jokes in the movie when compared to the ones in the trailer. The movie was about 20 min too long, but it had some absolutely awesome cameos. There was one brilliant cameo in the movie which came probably half way through, somewhat close to the ending. It was so much better than I expected.

  11. Robocop (2014)- 8/10

I surprisingly enjoyed this movie a lot. I honestly this movie was going to be a complete wreck, but it exceeded my expectations. There a bunch if things that were off, but I sat there and watched the entire movie without wondering what time it was or anything like that. I have never seen the original and probably never will, but Robocop was really cool.

  12. I'm hoping Rangers in 6

Don't really like any team, but I f**kin hate LA with a passion. Can't stand anyone on that team from Dustin Brown to Drew Doughty to Johnathan Quick. I hate the city of LA and I hate the LA Kings. I really, really hope NYR just trashes the Kings. After the past few seasons my hatred for LA has grown immensely, I can't stand LA winning another cup.

  13. Non-Stop: 7/10

It was way better than I expected, I didn't know too much about it but the twists were pretty good. From the start I kept guessing on who it would be but didn't get it right, also the ending got a little too crazy. Pretty good for what it was though, enjoyed some of that suspense.

  14. So, for a date if I had to choose between Godzilla and X-Men what would be a better choice? For the record, buzzwords like "fun" and "popcorn flick" mean very little to my enjoyment of movies so whatever is more like the Avengers in terms of quality I'd like to avoid

Godzilla focuses a lot on the human side of what is going on throughout the film. It will obviously have action and those "WOW!" moments but there was a lot more drama and dialogue than I expected. The story was also really good and the cast was fantastic, but if you go through how I have reviewed movies through this thread you'll find that I mostly just enjoy the movies for what they are.

I also personally dislike the X-Men series and cannot stand any of those movies. I like the X-Men but not the live action stuff. Also, I refuse to watch a film that Jennifer Lawrence is in.

  15. Godzilla- 9/10

This was my first Godzilla movie and it was freaking awesome! I gave it 9 because of the lack of 3D and because of how long Cranston was actually in the movie, outside of that it was really well done. Godzilla himself looked really good, the close ups of him were so cool. Really one of the best monster movies I have seen, I hope that they do make a Godzilla/Pacific Rim movie.

  16. Heat- 9/10

Loved this movie! Robert DeNiro is awesome and Al Pacino was very eccentric. The scene where DeNiro and Pacino meet up and all they do is talk, had me fully into the movie. The shootout scene was great because the bullets actually connected with people. The ending of the movie was phenomenal, especially the very last scene with the music. Could have done without Natalie Portman's characters storyline, which I thought served no purpose. Overall though it was a really good movie.

Going to watch Godzilla on Thursday!!

  17. Neighbours- 8.5/10

It was better than I expected it to be, really funny. Seth Rogen was awesome as usual, but my favourite character was the black guy who was Sam Jackson during the Robert DeNiro party.

Zac Efron has had a couple good movies since High School Musical. 17 Again was pretty good, it's still my favourite Efron movie and That Awkward Moment was decent. Neighbours was hilarious though, Zac did a good job in it. Rose Byrne and Dave Franco were also pretty funny, Rose with some killer moments. The movie was just awesome, comedy of the year so far.

  18. That's how I feel about it. They rebooted the series after 5 years, which for me, is just way too soon to watch. At least when Nolan rebooted Batman, there was an 8 year between his and the unwatchable Batman & Robin. Though, if I were a studio executive, I would reboot whatever I could, as long as it was guaranteed money; so I understand why it was done.

Sony would have lost the rights to Spider-Man had they had not made another movie. Since the first trilogy ended their only option was to pretty much reboot the Spider-Man franchise. I'm pretty sure that's why Spider-Man received a very quick reboot.

  19. who is the villain in the new spider man, anyway?

loved the comics as a kid, but couldn't stand that last movie. among the few who actually liked that toby maguire, or whatever his name is, as parker

The central villain is Electro, but the Green Goblin and Rhino are also in the movie. The Rhino is only there for about 3-4 minutes and the Green Goblin is there to set up for the upcoming movies.

You'll have to see the movie if you want to know how the villains are used throughout the movie, I personally thought they were awesome.

The actors are also awesome for each villain Dane Dehaan as Harry Osborne/Green Goblin, Jaime Foxx as Max Dillion/Electro, and Paul Giamatti as Russian Mobster (forgot name)/Rhino.

I also didn't like the first Amazing Spider-Man movie but as I re-watched I started to enjoy it more. I preferred Tobey Maguire over Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man as well, but Garfield did a really good job in this one. I am a fan of the Sam Raimi trilogy (including Spider-Man 3), but I think Amazing Spider-Man 2 was absolutely fantastic. This movie has received a lot of hate though, it may be a movie where either you will love it or you will hate it. The movie holds a 54% rating on RT critics reviews, which I think is absurd.

  20. The Amazing Spider-Man 2: IMAX 3D- 10/10

This movie was awesome, it didn't even feel like 2 hours 30 min. I was into from start to finish, I might be a little biased because Spider-Man is my favourite superhero. It had fantastic action, cool 3D, awesome villains, great chemistry, and a good story. I can't wait for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to come out now!!

    The Amazing Spider-Man 2 UltraAVX 3D- 10/10

So I ended up watching it again, after just watching it IMAX 3D yesterday. I still loved every single minute of it (except for the people who showed up with little kids to the movie). This is the first time I have seen a movie twice in theatres, I think this might be one of my favourite movies.
