  1. Stevie Y continues to work his magic. IMO, he's one of the best GM's in the league.

And why didn't Edmonton get a dman? They've already got too many forwards. Get Gudas or something. The Oilers have been mismanaging assets for so long. It's quite comical actually.

Gagner is actually good. In 67 games last year, he got 37 points, in the West, in the hardest div in hockey. Imagine what he can do in the East.

    STEAL for the Lightning IMO.

    Edit: never mind.

  2. Before, I would've loved to get him back, but we already have 8 quality dmen.

    Edler Hamhuis

    Tanev Sbisa

    Bieksa Weber

    Corrado Stanton

I don't really care that he left, defense is the least of our concerns. The forward group might be one of the worst in the NHL w/ our 2 top 6 forwards being in their mid 30's. We can't win the cup, we might as well do what Buffalo is trying to do and take a run at McDavid or Eichel.

I hope he goes to a team like Detroit so it intrigues Edler to want to be moved. Hopefully he doesn't say it in public and ruin the rate of return like some douche who wears #17 did.

  3. Nylander has twice the skill Ehlers does. Have you even watched Nylander at all? Obviously not. You don't think Nylander has the game breaking skill that Ehlers has? Don't be stupid.Go and actually watch the two prospects and then come back. Attitude issues? Nope. The only thing that's been reported is "daddy issues" which have no impact on what he does on the ice. And why would you be happy with Ritchie at 6? He's overrated, and has unimpressibe stats compared to people who should be picked in the top 6. Why would you want him? He's not that fast, his hands are nothing compared to Nylander or even Ehlers for that matter, the only reason he came close to 40 goals is because he's 6'3, 230 pounds. Im pretty sure alot of people would be scoring 40 goals if they were basically pushing people out of the way to score. You seem to forget that in the NHL, people are just as big as Ritchie. Then you will realize how little skill he has. Because he honestly doesn't have much.

    the ignorance is real...

  4. All Canuck fans see Anaheim as the perfect fit and I am one of them but it is not about what we think it is about what Bob Murray thinks and if Benning will get past the division thing. the price on Kesler is reportedly high and Murray also has interest in Spezza. Other centres are out there as well.

Spezza will cost more to aquire. He's an elite offensive threat and is extremely similar to Getzlaf. This isn't a bad thing, but Spezza is a true 1st liner center and it will run them a hefty amount to acquire him, whereas Kesler will cost them less. I'm not worried about Spezza ruining the possible trade to Anaheim because I think they're looking for a 2 way center.

What I'm worried about however, is the possibility of ROR being traded. If he's available, the Kesler market is screwed. The Ducks could probably get him for the around the same amount as Kesler, or they can offer sheet him. Meaning, the other teams interested in Kesler realize a prime suitor for the former Selke winner is off the table and they can use it as leverage, lessening the value coming back to us in a potential trade.

  5. I see the fantasizedabout Anaheim trade less likely than an eastern team like Pittsburgh, as much as I like it myself

Anaheim is really the only team that hits all 4 of the criteria needed in the Kesler deal:

    1. He'll waive (y not, best record in the West)

    2. They need Kesler (would solidify #2 center behind Getzlaf, could also play him w/ Perry and Getzlaf if needed)

    3. They have plenty of assets (Etem, Theodore, picks, etc, they've got it all)

    4. Have indicated interest (many reports saying they've offered a trade)

Pit doesn't hit 2 or 3 and maybe not even 4. They don't NEED Kesler, they've got bigger problems. The only assets they have are Poliout, Bennett and picks. And, now w/ a different GM, it's unclear whether or not he wants to pursue a Kesler trade.

I see Anaheim as the perfect fit.

  6. Nylander has incredible EVERYTHING though.. That's the thing. The only thing that Ehlers has over Nylander is speed. And not even by much. Other than that, anything Ehlers can do, Nylander can do better. For e.g, stickhandling, puck control, stickhandling at high speeds, the passing and the shots I would say are even, and ive noticed that Nylander is better at maneuvering. Just like Patrick Kane, he's so good at avoiding hits and making sure he's not pushed around into corners. Not to mention, Nylander has excellent vision. And I think the "selfish" part of him that some people seem to think, Is just him wanting to be that guy who can make the difference. He knows that he has the skill and the talent to be a star and an impact player, so he wants to be that guy. He thrives on being in the limelight and being the one that puts the team on this back, and carry's them to victory. He's not selfish. He's just a difference maker. Besides, He will bond much easier with the Sedins than Ehlers will, because Nylander's swedish.

I honestly think they're equal in everything except for puck handling, shot and speed. Puck handling clearly goes to Nylander, but shot and speed go to Ehlers. They're similar in all area, but I think Ehlers has less drawbacks.

  7. I just think Nylander might be a bit bigger and a bit better of a playmaker then Ehlers. Ehlers is speed , speed , speed. Plus he would have the Sedins for a few years to mentor him which would be a huge plus.

I disagree. Ehlers has plenty of other skills other than his speed. He's got a great shot, can handle the puck well and is good at passing. He's also got good vision and isn't selfish.

  8. Yeah he might im not saying he wont , what im saying is that I think Benning and Linden want size. I hope they are smart and take Nylander though. With the right mentoring he could be a star player someday.

Well, the same could be said for Ehlers. I think he has less to improve upon and is less of a risk than Nylander. Altho, if it were between Nylander and say, Ritchie, I'd take Nylander in a heartbeat.

  9. Ehlers doesn't have as good sitckhandling or puck control as any of the 3. He has alot of speed and really good playmaking ability, as well with a pretty good shot. Nylander has all 3 of those, but exceptional puck handling and he's bigger. Besides, Ehlers may only be as fast as he is BECAUSE he is so light. Putting on 15-20 lbs could decrease some of his speed.

"He's equally good with the puck and can handle it both at top speed and in traffic." That's what one scout said about him. Look at his highlights, he can handle the puck extremely well.

That's what was probably said about Kane and other prospects as well. That would be like me saying that if Ritchie lost 20Ibs, he'd be tied w/ Ehlers for speed. There's no way that happens. Ehlers is powerful and the 15-20Ibs he'd gain would be muscle so that would slow him down A BIT, but he'd be more explosive and harder to knock off the puck. I'd take the trade off.

  10. Yes. That is exactly what Nylander is. He's 5'11 so he's only 1 inch below 6'0. So he's basically 6'0 and he's 181 lbs. He has the outstanding stickhandling of Jonathan Drouin and the speed of MacKinnon. I can see superstar written all over him!

Well, the same could be said for Ehlers if he gains weight, which is almost a guarantee to happen. In fact, had Ehlers been 15-20 pounds heavier, I think he would be a safe bet to go in the top 3. Ehlers looks like both of them as well, and he played on their teams as well, so the comparison between Ehlers and the 2 is obvious.

  11. With your heart so set on little Ehlers I think there is a very good chance you will be very disappointed on draft day. Both Linden and Benning will put a premium on forwards with size a lot more than you realize, especially because there are a few in this draft that have size and can skate from well to outstanding. Dal Colle, Ritchie, Virtanen, Perlini.

The exception would be if they move up to take Reinhart but that is unlikely.

Like I've said b4, since there are so many power forwards available in the draft and Kesler likely out the door, we are pretty much picking a skilled guy at 6. Trade Kesler to Anaheim for 10th, 24th, Etem/Theodore.

    Draft Ehlers, Nylander at 6

Draft Ritchie, Perlini, Virtanen at 10

Us guys that like skill get what we want and you guys that like busts, oops, sorry, big guys, get your big guy. Everybody's happy!

  12. Mine too. Ehlers has that rare combination of high-end skill and high-end speed we haven't had since Bure. I hope we keep the 6th pick and don't package it with Horvat or something stupid like that to move up for Reinhart, who is good, but not that good. Unless I miss my guess, though, Nylander is going to go top 5, which will bump a safer prospect than Ehlers down to #6. I still hope we go for the home run with Ehlers, but won't be shocked if we don't. This team desperately needs offensive skill right now and it would be stupid to waste a high pick on a safe 2-way player when we already have several of them coming up.

I agree. Reinhart is a great player, but it's going to take too much of an overpayment to get him. I'd rather keep Tanev/Horvat and grab Ehlers.

  13. MacKinnon is super fast. He never really got "clobbered by a dman" Instead, he dominated them. Speed can really put you a league above everyone else.

Because he plays w/ Landy and Stasny and is a good size for the NHL (6'0 and 180Ibs). He's also got great vision, good shot and passes well. He has many other skills other than just speed. He doesn't have to always rely on his speed because he is so skilled.
