He apparently collapsed in the lockerroom after the first period after feeling unwell but couldn't be revived, coaches had gone to the stands to get paramedics at the game for help. He had just been named captain less than a week previously. RIP- 2

As much as I love Lidstrom, he was also on an elite Detroit team a lot of the time for star power, which helps him to a degree, Forsberg was with Sakic as main star power during the best years. Gotta give it to Forsberg by a slim margin.

Chara anywhere but Boston after so long just doesn't feel right, though that's always the case when long time players leave a franchise. Gonna be an interesting shortened season all around I'd say.

A retired nurse in town was one of the people working on saving the deceased one for quite awhile, she was in the wreckage which suggests she wasnt able to eject. In the words of a witness living near the airport; "The plane did a barrel roll, and shortly after the barrel roll there was a spark and the pilot ejected".

It was practically just across the river from where I live in town, I've heard reports of one dead and one alive as well, but nothing confirmed as of yet.

A gigantic, freshwater reservoir has been discovered beneath the Atlantic Ocean, stretching from Massachusetts to New Jersey, according to a new study.
Scientists at Columbia University made the discovery during a multi-year survey of the sub-seafloor off the U.S. Northeast coast.
The study, published in the journal Scientific Reports on June 18 says the aquifer stretches from the shore at least from Massachusetts to New Jersey and extends more-or-less continually out about 50 miles to the edge of the continental shelf.
If it were on the surface, researchers say it would create a lake covering about 15,000 square miles.
“Our data suggest a continuous submarine aquifer system spans at least 350 km of the U.S. Atlantic coast and contains about 2800 km3 of low-salinity groundwater,” the study reads.
According to researchers, the aquifer was found trapped in porous sediments lying beneath the ocean.

Favourite CDC Memory

Personally I can't think of a single favorite memory, mostly lurking since 2007 has made too many to remember or count for me. I will agree 2011 is among the best though. I still remember going out for a walk in my '94 Linden jersey after getting into the finals, and people cheering over it after seeing me go by in the jersey.
