I could see a hockey deal with Columbus,.

I wonder if we could pull Ceulemans. I think it is a realistic target. And I really like him.

As much as I like Silovs I think he needs another full year in AHL a the minimum after this season.

We would probably bargain hunt goalies in the summer if trading Demko.

I'd love to get Ceulemans from them. We would have to take some cap back if we dealt them Demko so thats what I was thinking with Merzlikins. He may have fallen out of favor there but Clark's worked with him before and knows him well so if they pay ++ for Demko I'd be open to that deal especially if Ceulmans coming back.

  2. Jeff Marek mentioned Columbus as a team with interest in Demko. If they do value him highly and Demko wants out I wonder about a Merzlikins + swap . They have some good young defense we could target like Boqvist, Peeke, and Bean. I'd make that deal maybe with the hope Ian Clark bring Merzlikins back to form and help mentor Silovs. My valuation could be way off but the money makes sense and an educated risk if Clark believes in his goalie from the past.

The way I see it, the deal was probably centered around Raty but with critical pieces to balance.

The "prize" of the trade is the sliding 1st Rd Pick. Things would have to go exceedingly well for NYI this and next season for that pick to lose value.

The cost of that prize was Beauvillier. I'm not saying he's bad or just a cap dump, but his name has been in the rumor mill for awhile so there's evidently not much of a market for him, or least not at his AAV. I agree that Beauviller may well thrive with the Canucks so it's unlikely he was a "throw in" from the Canucks' perspective, but he sounds like a NYI has been trying to move out for awhile so they may have been more willing to bend on the 1st Rd Pick.

Maybe the Canucks' retention on Horvat was also a factor in NYI agreeing that the 1st Rd Pick would be unprotected.

It will be very interesting to see if NYI can re-sign Horvat. If NYI can't re-sign Horvat and can't recoup much value for him (if they trade him before the TDL), then the Canucks absolutely win this trade based on the 1st Rd pick alone. That's a huge loss for the future of NYI. Even if they re-sign Horvat, NYI has so much cap tied to older players that it's hard to imagine their fortunes improving much by next season.

I'd agree with that sentiment on Beauvillier. It really could go either way but the style of player he is should be of value to what our team needs. We do need to have 2 more corresponding moves considering we've added his cap and the defense hasn't been addressed. Should be an interesting next month, at least I hope it will be.

  4. If Beauvillier can be a 20 goal scorer, bring speed, and play on the PK then I'll be happy with that piece. Might even thrive in a new system. He was arguably one of the Islanders best players in the playoffs the last two runs. He's not JUST a cap dump as some have stated. Although that theory has some weight to it, I just don't buy it.

  5. Ohmy!!!! Been a hot minute since I've been on here lately. A lot of emotions on both sides. I don't really see how anyone has an issue with this trade whatsoever. Low draft pick which rarely turn out to be NHL player for a D who is right handed and an NHL player plus a good player for Abbotsford most likely. That's a win no matter how you look at it. Hopefully he brings the Bear necessities because this team needs it.

SHL is a pretty low tier league. Players need to be well over PPG to be considered possible NHLers. But he's still young and has time to improve.

Also Victor Olofsson says hi. Not well over PPG but still ripping it up with the Sabres. Linus could easily carve out a middle six/ bottom six roll if his foot speed is up to snuff.

  7. As an extremely positive fan who usually never wavers. IVE HAD ENOUGH!!!! Something has to change now. This is embarrassing to see this calibre of hockey with what we all thought was some elite talent. I think it might be the coaching but I'm shocked how the players have quit on eachother. It's time for ownership to get there crap together because this can't go on. If you lose the die hards and do nothing then you're showing you could care less about hockey and the fans. And if that's the case, kiss my nuts Aqulini you rich prick! Talia was right to get rid of you.

  8. I couldn't with a straight face say I'm confident in tonight's game but this is a game that should be easy for the players to show up for. If our stars don't look like stars tonight it will get ugly fast even with Demko trying to save the day. Having said that I have a feeling it's gonna be a playoff type game with the Canucks winning 4-3. Peteys gonna rip one through Koskinen.

I don't have to concern myself about OJ. My view has been confirmed. Now what surpised me was the fans who couldn't see the kids lack of abilities. They were told by media that OJ, the first round pick, would be great and like willing sheep being lead to the abattoir they followed along never trusting their own eyes or taking a critical look

Injuries dude. Anyone saying the kid wasn't a legit pick when we drafted him was and is out to lunch. Dominant at the world juniors that year made his ranking go from the teens to a top 5 pick. Good on you though for being right about the current state of the player.

  10. He did a great job in preseason and earned his spot on the team. Looked good on the powerplay and surprisingly well on penalty kill. He's also settled down in life and knows this may be his last shot. I could see him carving out a career like Paul Byron.

    I could see that.

For me, the first thing that came to mind was Ghirardelli chocolates.

Also could a lunch meat like Mortadella.

Gambardella definitely sounds like food. Or maybe I’m just hungry?

Oh man those Ghirardelli chocolates are sooo delicious. Ruin my diet almost every day lol. I should probably stop buying them but they always fall into my cart somehow.
