  2. I think he has very good potential to be a top 4 d-man in this league. of all of our prospects, he's the biggest bet in my opinion. Though, like all of our d-prospects, far from a sure thing, but i've always had high hopes for him. Feel he's our most underrated prospect.

  3. You THINK you know too much.

i don't base management strategies off video games. I use common sense, and what's actually been happening in the league. some think it's so easy to just swap prospects and expect it to be a fair trade, and that no other factors apply, or get actual good value when a market is crap. the only thing i have against benning is the timing of his trades, when the market is saturated, or not holding out for better value at the trade deadline. if he was able to even get fair value for 50% of his trades he'd be a great gm in my eyes.

  4. Doesn't matter if he was drafted or not. They traded from their surplus to get a forward.

Your other statement is a lie. They have too many prospects so they moved one.

Nope. ask any NYI fan. Reinhart was struggling mightily and not living up to expectations. oilers took a shot on him cause they're desperate. do you really expect that the oilers would have taken another center, aka barzal with that pick? no, they would have taken a d-man or samsonov and you know it

  5. Who says anything about giving up on them? Trading from your team's strength for another team's strength is just smart trading. It doesn't have anything to do with giving up on them or some lame ego trip.

I am not claiming to have any more knowledge of the GM job than anyone else but the trade market is simple. It works on the basis of supply and demand.

But really, your opinion on the matter is more based on your dislike of Benning and his perceived inability to make trades that you think he should.

alright. give me an example of a prospect trade that has happened that wasn't because of

A: a dispute between the player/agent and the team

B: an obvious fleecing of one gm to another

C: both prospects being low quality and teams taking a shot in the dark

  6. You do know that once you have a surplus of one, you can trade from that surplus to cover a deficit elsewhere. As long as they stockpile quality forwards, they can hit up a team that has too many young defencemen.

yeah, but do you expect many teams to give up on their prospects regardless? gms have too big of egos to just be trading high quality prospects they picked for other prospects unless they've completely given up on them, a top 6/top 4 NHL forward/d/man is coming back, or they think they're fleecing the other team. i will be happily surprised if benning somehow trades a forward for a d prospect of EQUAL or BETTER quality. very very unlikely knowing him, but i'm not expecting it. That's why i look forward to the draft, where benning is actually decent.

  7. Prospect pool looks so fracking bright!, well at least the forwards. That's some excellent depth and Jensen is a boom or bust prospect. Let's say he busts, you have Grenier who is more NHL ready who can spot in that depth chart. Really like this. And that's without taking into account Zhukenov and Jasek who look like steals.

having a lot of forwards are great and all but they have almost no hope for a top 2/top 4 D. they need a chychrun, day, bean or krys in the next draft or it isn't looking pretty moving forward.

  8. I like Boeser too but I have to disagree with you. Jake Virtanen is already bigger, already faster/better overall skater, and his shot is even more elite than Boeser. I see Boeser as a Virtanen lite. Our future, inlcuding Bo, looks something like this.

Virtanen does not have the IQ for the pro game. he has the attitude, which might turn him into a good 3rd liner, but not top 6 upside. he will be a more physical shawn matthias at his best I'd say. Boeser's game is more adapted to the NHL style. there are many players who play a north south game like virtanen but it doesnt translate to the NHL. Boeser can play a cycle, snipe, bat in pucks in front of the net etc game. Virtanen's game is skate up the wing, cut in or take a shot, repeat. aka matthias
