  1. These athletes have to do whats best for them and if they think they aren't being valued by the team at fair value why sign with them?

As we are learning more and more in pro sports its all a business teams are showing less and less loyalty to players so when a player tries to do whats best for them we should support them no? It's tough for both sides but everyone is just trying to do whats best and I'm sure in BB case this will be resolved there doesn't seem to be as much hostility as other situations.

Well ... let's think about this. He could go to the Pros in a professional organization who can provide him with everything he needs ( or so the theory goes )  and get paid for to boot or he could return to his college where he still needs to attend the lectures and keep his GPA at an expected level where his parent still has to subsidize his life. Ummm what to do.  What does he do, he speaks to his parents and his advisor and the decision is ..... stay away from Utica and entrust your future to the college development and I think he got it right. Why would a prospect even consider Utica  ... maybe a goalie would they get individual coaching. Agents monitor AHL teams and roster spots, it's part of their gig

Also the part where being a well-known student athlete doesn't hurt around campus if you all know what i mean.

We have players like Gagner so that we don't have to rush our young players. If we don't have players like Gagner, then we end up rushing our prospects and setup for potential failure. It would really not be a fun spot to be in don't you think?

Could call up Peter Chiarelli and ask him?

Thor: Ragnorok 3 was very good.

Had good action, but I thought Hulk didn't get as much fighting as I was hoping. Wanted to see him tear his way through the skeleton guys like he did the aliens and robots. Loved when Thor went all beast-mode with the lightening though! I guess he doesn't have his hammer anymore, which I would miss in future movies.

While I did find parts of the movie to be very funny, I thought it was trying to be funny too often. I know it sounds weird to say that, but I think ever since the success of Chris Pratt and GotG #1, I think Marvel movies now are trying to have a joke in every other line. I thought this was even clearer in GotG #2, which is why I didn't like that movie as much. I did appreciate seeing a more comical side to Thor, though.

I think Marvel's embrace of humour could be a little overwhelming in Infinity War if we ever get Stark, Thor, Spider-Man, Ant-man, etc. all in one room. ;)

Wasn't Stark making something for thor? From the spiderman homecoming end credits i think?

    am i doing it right?

  6. Why do you guys argue? You guys are both correct in this sense. Tryamkin had pretty small sample size in the NHL but he proved he can play in the league. As for his ceiling that remains to be seen but guy has loads of potential so long as he wants to reach that potential in Vancouver also remains to be seen.

  7. We lost what 400+ man games last year to injury? Let them start in Utica if they dont start in the NHL right away and come up when we will inevitably have an injury.

Stecher started the year in Utica last year as well. Im just glad we will have quality players to call up. Not rushing the kids is going to prove optimal in the future.

The main thing that I think could hold Lockwood back is his physical build. Here is some footage on him:

I think it's more evident in the second video, but you can see how much he has to fill out physically. He was taking some solid runs at people, but I think he's gonna have to add quite a bit of muscle mass to be effective at that in the NHL. His feet look fast and he has good coordination, but I think it'll take him a while to enough physically for him to be as effective as possible.

Just let him marinate in the ahl for a few years build that muscle and go from there?

i actually agree with you that jake's trajectory will be similar to mantha's.

all that said, it takes patience.

sadly a lot of us lack that trait, me included at times haha. However knowing that its going to take a few years nothing left to do but be patient haha. (with all of our prospects).

I kinda agree somewhat as people on here do not get a 30 goal scorer in proposals or drafts we lost the draft they say,LOL

Look at a team like the red winds wh's players over there 25 plus years of playoffs all players were 23 on average that came into their line up so to most here every draft they lost as the players were in the minors

I think we need more of that and not to rush players into the NHL ,  make sure they are ready and Jake is the first we are doing this so he is not a bust by any means

Maybe we could look at the way they have handed anthony mantha and use that as a comparison here?

I know Jake was a top ten pick but i still feel we should have him on the same sort of trajectory as mantha.

A lot of posters joke and say lower your expectations of Brock. "It's only 7 games, relax". Well then what is a good number to predict? The kid is dynamite. He's averaging 3-4 sog every game and has 4 goals in separate fashion in his short time on the second worse team of the league. I don't know about you guys but I'm fired up, it's time to be excited about something.

I think a realistic goal for brock would be 20-25 goals.

A lot of it is going to depend on his deployment as well, as i don't see him on the first pp next year to start and maybe not even on the second line.

I just feel management forced him into a bigger role at the end of this year as to give the fans something to look forward to but as soon as next year starts they may "protect" him in the way we have seen horvat be "protected" in his first few years. I for one see him moving up to the second line prety quick and hopefully replaces sutter on the first pp unit with loui being the other forward with the sedins.

Why are we still talking about MT in Juolevi's thread?

Real talk, I think I might make a thread for other teams prospects so we can get rid of this garbage

agreed, i open up these threads to see how our prospects are doing and a lot of the time i have to sort through so much useless info just to get what im looking for. Bottom line is our prospects are ours and we can't really worry about other teams players.

I can somewhat understand other players coming up in these threads for comparisons sake but most of what i see is garbage.

I think the stereotypical number one d man has to put up a lot of points and be responsible defensively. Juolevi is going to be a great player for us and will be top pairing, but if he doesn't put up big points, he won't be a true number one. May serve as one for us but not a true number one.

Ive seen a few posters compare Juolevi to vlasic who again in his own right is a pretty damn good defencemen but again i wouldn't consider vlasic a true number 1.

That being said if he does turn into a vlasic type/level player then I for one will be glad anything past that is just gravy imo.

Yea but I'm so excited to see him I want him rushed lol. That's probably why I'll never make millions to manage a hockey team

don't worry we can manage the team together we can create a good balance hahah

UND played well. BU got lucky. 99% of the time you more than double your opponents shot you win.

When will Boeser be teamed with Baertschi and Horvat?

    next year hopefully :)

I don't see the need to rush him let him get healthy (speculative injury to wrist could still be bothering him)

    Shea Weber

How can people not be happy about Juolevi, he slows the game down and makes it look easy. I do not know about everyone else, but the hand full of games I have seen him play Olli is always making plays that turn out to be more valuable then first viewed. I am not going to explain "more valuable then viewed" because you have to have a deep understanding of the game to understand.

I agreee 100% he is so calm on the ice with or without the puck. His first pass or ability to escape the forecheck are huge parts of his game that maybe overlooked by some who only look at the stat sheet at the end of the game. Once he brings this ability to players of NHL calibre skill perhaps he starts to put up points (since that is important to some). I for one am not disappointed with this pick.

There are a few things to factor in. This has been the first best thing Vancouver has done with any of its picks in recent years. He came in last year as an entitled kid that did not earn his ice time and this is the result of a wasted year.  someone on here mentioned hischer being slight and not gritty. This player was better than any Canadian forward at the WJHC. He reminds me of a young joe Salic, with his ability to avoid traffic darting in and out , with a great head on his shoulders and a quick release. Vancouver should tank the rest of the year just to increase the odds of getting him. Lastly what is Vancouver going to do with their defence , they are locked on the right side with Taney, gudbranson and stecher,  left side of Edler, Sbisa,,Hutton, tryamkin and juolevi coming probably next year.  Especially with sbisa having a breakout year. Not to mention the players they have in the minors. Like him or not Pedan is a player that helps this team long term . Big body, good feet , tough tough and adds grit to a soft backend. Subban deserves a chance somewhere but most likely won't be here.  Vancouvers D is deep but to get the best unit you have to move out elder, Hutton, and maybe sbisa if you want size in pedan.  Great overall prospects at forward and after miller leaves they have three good respects as future number ones. I would expect this team to struggle one more year but 2018-2019 should be the beginning of a great future for Vancouver hockey fans

Hey Seeds welcome to the board. few things i would like to add:

    1. No team will ever intentionally tank but I agree that if we are in a position to draft Hischier we should not hesitate.

    2. Yes we have a lot of depth at D currently but we may lose Sbisa in the expansion draft and we won't know until next year if Juolevi will be ready for the show right away (no need to rush him anyway). Also year after year our D is banged up and having depth helps ease the pain of injuries.

    3. Yes the teams future does look bright and hopefully in 3 years time we start cintending for the cup season after season until Bo lifts it over his head (hopefully please god please haha).

Can't hurt for Utica as a bottom-6 forward over there. Utica just got a lot better with Dahlen, some Goldobin at times, a better Virtanen and now MacEwan (not to mention possibly Juolevi and Boeser).

They have a lot of help coming their way in the next few years
