  1. Good point on the salary cap disadvantage, I think the Luongo penalty is unfair to both the fans and the players who's team is limited by the past organizational mistakes (mind you the league approves all transaction and contracts do they not??). While the contract at the time put other teams at an disadvantage cap wise however I feel the "eye for an eye" mentality of the league is unprofessional. I think a large concern as you mention is the draft, my feeling is we lack attention to drafting depth roles that are outside the top 6 . This means 2nd and 3rd round picks can have long term implications for a teams future compositional outlook.
  2. Hey fellow CDCrs it's been a while since I've made a post, Hopefully this is a topic to have discussion about chemistry, team play, and team composition. With a shortened season my expectation was to see more intense playoff style hockey, I think some teams got this message early while others seemed to think that relying on talent alone would win them games. There is no shortage of talent (IMO) on each team in the league and with cap limitations I strongly believe the league is more balanced than ever before. Chemistry: All about the relationships between players and staff, past history, performance, and involves complimentary playing and coaching styles. Team Play: Strategies, systems and structure that determine the assignments and expectations of players. Team Composition: Top Line = Players who have outstanding fitness and skating skills, they excel offensively and defensively, tie breaker goes to the line who can be more effective as two way players (can be used in multiple situations/roles) . How effective is our top line as two way players? 2nd Line = Players who excel offensively or defensively often are the best two way players in the game We seem to have players who can move up and down the lineup, how does this impact team play? 3rd Line = Players who are youthful (not injury prone), have larger builds, can play a solid defensive game, can shutdown other teams top lines, make life difficult for the opposition, contribute some offensive production, usually strong at Center position. If players cannot perform their roles due to injury I think we have an issue with aging veterans taking up third line roles ( IDK due to poor drafting choices??) 4th Line = Players who have experience and excel at the defensive end of the ice, they can be relied on brought in on call to fill a small amount ice time each night. We seem to have a a plethora or abundance of these players, sadly they come at steep price tag, are often injured, and both put pressure (can be a good thing) and take roles away from younger players (although not a huge fan... Virtanen). I know there is a lot of "grey area" when it comes to what is a "good" team composition. Where do you think our players/team fit in here? How would you describe our team composition, do we have a winning composition? Why? Why not?
