As a goalie myself, playing with the tire fire defense the Canucks have in front of you can destroy your confidence, feels like every shot goes in.  This isn't the line up to get those learning minutes with.  If this was at least a half decent defensively sound line up I'd agree but it isn't.

    Fair enough.
But no matter how bad the defence is and how the game ‘feels’, he can’t learn what these situations are like in the AHL.
Sure he has let in some goals, but he’s also made a lot of saves. He looks good out there, and is gonna learn a ton from this game.

im sure if this really was a bad idea, Ian Clarke would not have let it happen.
Goalie coaches are angry, angry people.

I just think it was unnecessary and wrong timing given the current position of the team and farm team.

Unless there is something else going on behind closed doors like a potential Demko trade..

Yea sure but there’s more going on there. When is the right time to bring in a rookie goalie to get a look at what it like in the NHL?

    When we are a contender?

When we are a middling team?

Martin needs to get his game back

    Delia needs a reset.
Silovs needs some experience at the top level.

It’s 1 or 2 games. He will be fine and learn so much from this.

    look at the zibanajed goal.
hell, I learnt something just watching that.

It was not a good call to start Silovs imo

Might kill all the momentum and confidence he had in the AHL.

I disagree man, as a goalie myself you want to be put in these positions.

You need to know what the next level is like.
you need to know what level you are at compared to where you want to be.

This is a good team vs a bad team and whoever is in net will not change that.

he will learn so much from this game and be a better goalie for it in the long run.

Thank you.  Literally every candidate for a President of hockey ops position will have made some mistakes.  Not all of them will have Rutherford's resume.

Exactly, making mistakes is how we learn.

    The OPs argument is.
Rutherford was bad before he was good so he must still be bad.

  5. This is a weak argument..

Give the man some credit, he has 3 cups. That’s 3 more than any of us have.

Opportunities arise out of the situations that unfold before us.
Sure he’s made some questionable moves, but so has every GM in the league.

Sometimes it’s the moves that you don’t make that can get you to the top.

Going back into the past and dealing in ‘IFs’ is a dangerous way of thinking.

IF you change one aspect of the past you have to change everything.

IF the Oilers had their starting goalie in the finals……

IF someone else had inherited that Penguins team…..

    IF we drafted Jagr

IF we didn’t hit the post in 94

IF Luc Bourdon hadn’t passed on

IF we didn’t have so many injuries in 2011

    IF Luongo’s contract didn’t suck

    see where I’m going here?

Maybe IF some of these situations unfolded then maybe we wouldn’t be such a bitter fan base.

See that's how I look at it as well.

Our goaltending and most of our D have been excellent,  aside from the Sabres game we had a chance to win every game and I'd our stars were playing like they are capable we would be right there at the top.

So unless people think this is it for our offense I don't get all the panic.

I hate the Oilers but they have been elite at scoring so far, we are the only team that has basically shut them down 5on5 and honestly should have won at least 1 of the games.

OEL, Poolman and Myers have been very good and Quinn Hughes is not only getting his points bit is a plus 3 and perhaps even more impressive has shut down #97 both games.

Speaking of the Oilers, watching them play Mcdrai and their pp is covering up some really bad play, their D has not looked great and how the hell is Hyman like a -5? Things have a way of balancing out over 82 games and once our forwards wake up were going to be fine, getting healthy would be nice for our pk that's as well.

    I’ll drink to that.

Eichel going to Vegas will be a really hard fir. True, short term solutions are possible (eg. IR), but what about after that?

The "big" contracts on Vegas are all covered by NMC/NTC clauses, and I don't see any of those guys being overly eager to go to Buffalo (Karlsson, Marchessault, Dadonov, Pietrangelo, Martinez, Lehner?), and the one guy who might be able to get Buffalo to bite on a deal (Theodore) is probably too valuable to Vegas to give up. Smith is fine for one year, but after that... Or, maybe there's something going on behind closed doors.

From what I see, Theodore, two 1st round picks, and a smattering of prospects will be the return, with some retention by Buffalo. Vegas doesn't want to give up too much of their current roster, unless they are looking to tank to help the value of the picks they are giving up.

                                                                 regards,  G.

Maybe another team gets involved for a 3 way trade?

Why not both? There's more than a certain humiliation factor in being told to remove your banner. Especially for the guys who were on that team, who are still playing for it, and I'm sure everyone knows who I mean.

Ban any players still active, from participating in international events (Olympics) as well.

I’m mean sure. But what I’m saying is you can take the banner down and strip them of the title, but you’ll never take away that feeling of raising the cup. It’s what they all dream of doing and they did it. They still won the cup. They will have that forever.

  9. Striping them of the title does absolutely nothing to punish the organisation.
They still played the games and the players still lifted the cup. Weather there’s a banner in the rafters or not you can never take away that feeling for the players and the organisation.
If you want to punish them it has to be in the future and not the past.

Tampa is really bad at drafting and developing D.  The only d on their back to back cup teams that they drafted was Hedman.
