  1. Well, in all likelihood, if we have both goalies on our roster when the expansion takes place, we are losing one of them. Unless we swing some sorta deal with Seattle ie; don't touch our goalies, we'll trade you pick + X player and you take *Insert name here...ah hell who am I kidding Eriksson, ERIKSSON* off our hands.

If Space Cadet Bryzgalov can make a (albeit $&!#ty) comeback after sitting on his ass for a year, I wouldn’t write Eddie off yet. Is it likely? Probably not. Is it possible? Hell yeah.

And you’re thinking of the five stages of grief. 12 steps is for AA; as far as I know, the only thing Eddie is addicted to is tacos.

I think Trump may have just found his Captain for "Space Force!"

Cadet to Captain in record time, amazing. *Salute*

  3. Honestly, it's not that bad of a deal. Absolute worst case scenario is he is a scrub and bolts to KHL in 2 years.

Not ideal scenario is he's a 40-50 point top 9 player, slightly overpaid, but not by a lot.

Likely scenario is he is an ideal top six player who can put up around 60-ish points and help a PP that is in need of it. Good deal then.

Best case scenario is he is Panarin 2.0 or close to, puts up 70+ points on the top line and tears up the pp with Hall/Hughes and Subban.

My money is on a 65-ish point season and 20+ pp points. Guy has too much vision and has good insulation with Hall, Subban, Hughes, Hishcier to not make an impact.

I know the Jets got fleeced but it was getting pretty obvious that Trouba didn't want to be in Winnipeg anymore. He's clearly been wanting to return to the US since his first round of RFA. The Jets had a chance to win a cup with him on the roster but it didn't work out.

The Rangers will be a pretty dangerous team in like the next 2 years with guys like Trouba, Fox, Skjei patrolling the blueline and guys like Panarin, Buchnevich, and Kaako up front. Only big question mark for them long term is who'll be the next Rangers goalie because Lundqvist isn't getting any younger and I don't believe Alexandar Georgiev is gonna turn into a bonafide NHL starter.

    Igor Shestyrokin.

General consensus is he's one of the top 3 "prospect" goalies in the world, except he's been playing against men in the KHL for the past 3 years. He is the heir apparent to the King. If he pans out like pundits think he might, Rangers are loaded, if not, they need a goalie badly lol.

  5. I think Chi...as much as I hate to admit is, is...or was a great model to follow. Establish who your core is, build around those 3-4 players and when it comes time to re-sign players who are expecting big raises ie; Ladd, Buffugly, Bolland, cut them loose and trade them for assets back and maintain your core with flexible cap space.

Chi followed this model for quite a few years and had huge success with it, but then came bringing back old players, retaining to many players who were due for big paydays.

Same. I agree 100% preach ha

    Gentleman hockey gets you nothing.

I believe this draft addressed this issue with a giant exclamation mark.

Podkolzin is like a bull in a china shop and Hoglander should hopefully be at his worst a 3rd/4th liner who plays in the same vein of Brendan Gallagher, or at his best, a Swedish Brendan Gallagher.

  7. I'm happy Edm took Broberg cause I sure as hell didn't want Benning drafting him. The kid has a lot of size and can hit speeds very few bigger guys can...outside of that, I'm not huge on the guy at all. He has severe deficiencies in his defensive game, his hockey IQ is not that great. He's great when he's got time and space, but when there isn't a lot of time to process, doesn't look nearly as good and at the NHL level, time and space is in very limited supply.

Glad Oilers jumped on that grenade rather then us.

They have done well with trades and signings, and had a player gifted to them (Kakko)..I dont think they've really hit any home runs with their drafting.

So,where do you see them finishing this season?..Rebuild looks over to me.

Shestyrokin I feel is their main home run with drafting.

Chytil and Lias Andersson are still up for debate, both have a lot of potential, I feel like one of them will break through and be a high end top 2 center. Outside of that, yeah, no home runs outside of Kakko. They've done very well on acquiring young talent over the last couple of years though. They've joined a long list of NHL teams in fleecing Ottawa, that Ziba trade is looking horrible. Trouba for a low 1st and a fringe top 4 D was also great. Getting a top prospect in Fox for essentially peanuts was quite the coup. Panarin for free (outside of cap) is icing on the cake.

Honestly, I don't think they make the playoffs next year, not quite there and lot of new players will need time to build chemistry plus rookies/young players more adjustment time to NHL. Bos/Wsh/Tor/Fla/Car/TBL would be hard to see Rags finish ahead of any of those teams, so will be fighting against Mtl/Isle/Phi/Pit for wild card spot.

I think Canucks and Rags take the same step next year, good playoff push, but finish just outside the playoffs and following year make the show.

    2023 Canucks-Rangers SCF! lol

None of their Centers are projecting to be elite 1C's..I'd say that they are pretty underwhelming as far as picks go..Rangers look very strong on the wings, and no elite prospects on D either...

Quickest rebuild ever?...I'm not convinced..I think they should have given themselves at least another year or two getting high lottery picks..but thats just my 2 cents.

Ziba put up 70 points without any elite D on the back end and his best winger through the year was Kreider, he also plays heavy minutes on both pp and pk and takes a ton of draws and has a high FoW %...not really sure what your criteria is for elite centers, but I'm sure majority of teams don't meet it lol.

They just added Trouba to their D, just entering his prime and while yes, he may not be an elite puck mover who can put up 50+ points every year, he's a great two way D who plays a physical game who can easily hit 40+ points QB'ing a PP, plus they added Fox who had 4 more goals and 15 more points then Hughes had in College (1 year his senior, in Fox's 2nd year of college he put up pretty much same numbers Hughes did) Fox would be in a lot of team's top 3 for prospects.

Plus they have Shestyrokin, top 5, if not 3, prospect goalie in the world (look at rankings) who has played against men for the past 3 years in KHL and put up great numbers.

  10. Dang, Rangers just had the quickest rebuild ever.

Pretty impressive that to get Fox, Trouba and Panarin, all they gave up between those 3 is a 1st (which was Wpg's 1st anyways), a 3rd and Pionk.

    Ziba-Chytil-Anderson down the middle

Panarin-Kakko-Kreider-Kravtsov-Buchnevich-Namestikov on the wings, that's a pretty sweet top 9. Their defense is a bit lacking still though, need to add a legit top 4 D *cough* Shattenkirk *cough*.

As for cap trouble for them, they're in a pretty good position actually, they are going to have over $13m come off the books in a couple years when Lundqvist and Staal are gone. Plus if they're smart, they should be able to package Shattenkirk off to a low cap team ala Marleau in a couple years if he continues his pilgrimage of suckitude. That's another $6.6m off the books.

Rags forward groups looks legit, especially in a couple of years, have one of the top prospect goalies in the world in Shestyrokin, really all they need to add is a good top 4 D.

With regards to the $3m in cap space, we may not use it this year, but Canucks will very likely want that cap available to them in the future, as they'll be looking to re-sign both Petterrsson and Hughes to new deals plus bolster the lineup throughout. This year it may not matter much, that $3m could haunt us in a couple years time if that's the difference between us landing a legit top 4 D or some bottom of the barrel spare parts.

    Time for the big question

Why did he drop to 40?

    5'9

Same reason Caufield fell to 15, height/size, though in Hoglander's case, it's just height as he has a very solid frame.

Add 2-3 inches to both of these players and Caufield is a top 10 pick and Hoglander goes somewhere in the last 10 picks in 1st round.
