I'd definitely have to research it more. From what I gather Dahlin has really fallen off but I hear it's due to a lack of confidence more so than a lack of talent. I'd also like to see Podkolzin play at the NHL level just to see what he brings to the table because he could have some really high value but at this point I don't think I'd even do that trade straight up (but mainly out of ignorance at this point). The tricky thing is finding top 4 defensemen in this league though, and finding them young and/or cheap is really challenging. I always feel it's best to go through the drafting route for this method however I think you're right in saying that for Dahlin they'd probably be looking for Podkolzin++. He still has value and Podz is still unproven. Timing just doesn't feel right to me though before at least having a look at the player at this level.

I'm also not convinced at all that this organization can turn defenders around. I think at this level we are more adept at actually regressing our defensemen sadly with the style of play this team incorporates.

Thats why they hired Brad Shaw, he's a defense whisperer lol. I think he will help the defense.

Who In the organization takes Beagles 4C spot?

I agree that Rooster is not the same but we need a 4th line that can compete at the NHL level full time,

With little or no Cap space who fills out an effective 4th line?

I think Graovac would be ok as a 4th line center until someone else is ready, maybe lind.

I am kind of am in the same boat as you. I worry that Beagle, despite what some are saying, may not be back.

It would free up 3 mil in cap space though if he stays on ltir and would help the canucks.

Podz going nowhere... He fits the profile to a T... Think this was exactly the kind of player Benning wanted. Fast, hard to play against, skill and strong on the puck...  If we don't get to see Podz in the team, I'll be hugely disappointed...

PS. Spot on... also how Vegas dominated us a year ago.

People can propose all they want, but I highly doubt canucks management are proposing Podz in any trades, they are very high on him, he's a keeper for now.

That's why I'm on the fence.  Podkolzin might be my favorite of all the prospects we've had in recent years.  Seth Jones is a true #1 RHD in his prime though, he makes our team way better than it currently is, right away.  It would take something that really hurts to

Because he's a first round pick who really fits their needs, they are most likely not even considering packaging podz in a trade st this point, his ceiling may be higher than seth jones.

Podkolzin may have a higher ceiling than Höglander but it may take him some time to get there. I think both players are going to be very good additions for the Canucks. That being said, I stand by my opinion that he will not start in the top six but will start on the 4th line and probably move to the 3rd line by Christmas. His style of play is more in line as a checking forward that has the skill to play up and down the lineup depending on where the need is the greatest. If Travis decides to go with 3 scoring lines then he will will be in the mix in the top nine.

I see him starting on the 3rd, and working his way up to the 2nd, unless they get another proven top six scoring winger this offseason.

I believe the player thread to reach the most amount of pages before making their NHL debut is the Olli Juolevi thread. That thread had reached 703 pages before Juolevi made his NHL debut.

I was wondering how much the Shirokov thread got lol.

If he is called upon to represent USA at the World's, that would be another checkmark on his young professional career!

    Go get 'em Rathbone!

Motte like, good hustle, speed not afraid of dirty areas solid first game

Great thanks, hopefully he can be a good bottom six forward, glad he's got some speed and toughness, he looks like he's in really god shape and will only get tougher. Motte is not known as a tough guy but he's led the team in hits last 3 season's combined, he adds toughness.

  10. Tryamkin and Podkolzin would add a ton of team toughness canucks have lacked, instantly, and leadership, also will be nice for podz to have a russian teammate to get him acclimated here. So excited if this carries out.
