Hindsight is 20/20 man. A lot of folks were happy with the pick too, because it was best player available. They must’ve seen something we didn’t. Kid oozes skill, just needed time to marinate.

Y’all go from 0-100 in no time. He’s getting hit with a bit of adversity, let’s see how he responds before you start saying we’ve wasted a pick.

Yeah when the Canucks made this pick I would say majority of people were happy with the pick. It's been 4 months since he's been drafted...can't call a kid a bust just yet.

I think the jury is still out on Kuzmenko; I would like to see more physicality if he wants to get more than $5m AAV with term and limited movement clauses.

I like that he is scoring (who couldn't with Petey as your center?) but I don't like the way he just stops and looks around when things don't go the way he expected.

Very good signing for this year though: A+ and Mickey too (I also like the Lazar and Aman signings).

Well yeah, it's only 20 games into the season. However, the Canucks wouldn't have pursued him if they only wanted to have him for one season. He is still adjusting to the North American style game. I would say right now though, the positives outweigh the negatives and him/Petey/Mikayhev have developed some good chemistry.

Didn’t Kuz say part of why he signed with us was because he wanted to have a good chance to stay in the city beyond just this year, and he felt he had that chance with us?

Exactly. That went into the decision of him signing anywhere. He knew he could only sign a one year deal for his first contract, but he didn't want to go anywhere for just one year.

Won't he be a UFA, given that he'll be 27 by the end of the year? I'm not sure he'll want a bridge, though that would be nicer for us.

Correct, he will be a UFA after this season. I think he would probably want a 4-5 year deal following this contract. I'm sure something was also discussed in the initial contract discussions when bringing him to Vancouver and what the organization sees for him in the future.

Way early to say that IMHO. Hogs has just started his 3rd NHL season and is only 22 years old. He is playing a better d-side game this year. He has the speed and skill that will let him re-establish his offensive game eventually. His puck retrieval is superior. Hogs will be just fine with some patience and coaching.

I think it's too early as well. He is slowly getting better, However I would have preferred the Canucks letting him develop in Sweden or the AHL for a year or two before rushing him to the NHL so he could get the ice time he deserves. Still have high hopes for him.

You just know Stevie Y is going to fleece noobie Allvin for Bo the way we did Bo for Schneider and it'll come full circle. I worry we won't get a 1st back and will just get a bunch of their B-grade prospects and a 2nd.

The two GM's that I think would 100% fleece Allvin on a Bo trade would be Yzerman and Sakic.

I just don't understand why ownership thinks a retool can happen with the cupboards being so bare on the farm and with picks. I could understand and back it up if we had a lot more to give up to acquire players but right now it just seems like a dumb idea to everyone that has some knowledge about hockey. I know money is their main goal. It always has been but at some point you just have to say we can't retool. Our prospects and draft picks have to be rebuilt. That's where I think they need to start. I just think they are wasting time doing it this way. If they could prove me wrong that would be great but it's been a lot of years trying to do it this way. I think it's safe to say it won't work.

Because they genuinely think the team is close to competing for a cup again. From what they saw in the bubble, to the late season flash last year.....they think we are close....when we are not. You are 100% right. We have barely anything in the prospect cupboards, we have a core that just doesn't appear to be working, and one of the worst blue lines in the NHL. A rebuild is logical...However, ownership sadly doesn't see the same way most fans do...and as a result the Canucks will be stuck in mediocrity until something changes.

Wasn't the biggest fan of the player before we got him but I'll be honest I've been impressed with what I've saw so far with the small sample size, hopefully he can even get better

I felt the same way Bear. I would say so far so good on this trade, especially considering we didn't have to give up much acquire him. However, it is early.

I assume he wants eight years so likely some flexibility on total dollars...so likely willing to sign for lower AAV but probably wants same total dollar amount.

You would hope there would be some dollar flexibility if he wants 8 years. However, if Im Bo's agent and I see Miller getting 8 x 8.5...I probably want the same.

He played over 1000 games with the team.  And the franchise only started in the 90s.  I don't have a problem with it.

Yeah I agree. I see a lot of people bashing this move, but he was a mainstay in that Ottawa line-up for years. To play 1,000 games with one team, especially the way he played the game...I'm fine with this.

Pretty obvious that ownership is the issue with this team. Until Aqua goes hands off or new owners come around nothing will change. If you fire the Coach/Management it'll be the same story.

It's been the problem for years unfortunately. Hopefully they let this new regime actually do some work & make some tough decisions, but early indications are showing they won't.
