  1. and it ain't just the Bruins. Carolina's been doing it for a while, St. Louis, Nashville....

We're not technically copying anyone. Certainly we've been copied on certain elements, but all of the 30 game ops teams/dj's share information. each city is unique to their fans. I've been to many rinks as well, and sure, there are similar, and sometimes exactly the same elements that we use, but they work! and most fans don't take a mental inventory of what they happen to see or hear on HNIC.

All that said, if the fans didn't IMMEDIATELY jump on board with this, we wouldn't still be doing it.

More the merrier I say. let's score 5 or 6 every night.

    Ah. Ok.

The 'We are all Canucks' thing from a year or two ago was definitely from the Islanders.

I like how the Canucks have used the Towel Power originally. And our fans often get upset when other teams 'steal' that concept.

So it's definitely nice to get something original that's unique to that one team.

I know the Boston Celtics uses Shipping Up To Boston by the Dropkick Murphys (they're from Boston) as their victory theme.

The Dropkick Murphys also have a Bruins theme called 'Time To Go' and the Red Sox have a song called 'Tessie' that supposedly 'helped' break the Red Sox curse and brought a championship in 04' (along with 'Sweet Caroline' from Neil Diamond that gets the crowd pumped during break time)

Sorry I keep on using Boston as an example but I'm a big fan of their sports teams and they're all very successful franchises that has 'unique' and solid identities.

I think use of local bands might be a good idea.

Maybe get some good Vancouver/BC based bands to create a good Canucks theme might work?

  2. The only problem I have with the 'Woo!' is that the Boston Bruins do it already and they've been doing it for a while now.

It's a lot better in Boston in the sense that the fans actually love woo-ing and it's super loud at the TD Garden (I got to witness it live last month).

I don't know if the Canucks organization already knew this and decided to do the same thing, or they didn't know and did the exact same thing though.
