  1. Dear Translink,

My bus passed by my stop when I was a block away. No sweat, I thought, there'll be another in 5 minutes. Halfway down the remaining block, a second bus passed my stop. Oh dear, I thought, this cannot end well. I proceeded to wait 12 minutes (there should be two buses that come by in that time) at the stop before a very full bus showed up. Oh well, I thought, at least it's here. I boarded the bus, and as it left the stop, I saw that another bus caught up to us.

Please figure out a way to space the buses properly.

    Thanks,

    Concerned Noodle

  2. on a side note did anyone notice some of the fighters twisting their nipples lately

last ufc gsp licked his lips then twisted his nipples, now rashad. Seems there is something hot n heavy going on at the Greg Jackson Camp hah.

they both dropped their opponents... so maybe there is something to this nipple thing.

Gynecomastia would be my guess. Why they may have it is another conversation altogether.

  3. I was very impressed Chris Cyborg in her EliteXC bout just now. She pounded that other girl! She thought the fight was over and started celebrating, and, not understanding English, took a while to understand the fight wasn't over. She then proceeded to dish out more brutality and finish it for real.

It was pretty lopsided, but I enjoy seeing a browbeating every once in a while too!

The other girl wasn't really a mixed martial artist, all she did was try for submissions, which are apparently how all of her wins came in the past. I wouldn't mind seeing more female fights if they could find enough talented fighters to take part in them.

  4. Alexander Emelianko (fedors brother on the undercard) will not be fighting. He just got replaced by Gary Goodridge. For some apparent reason he didnt pass the medical..

you'd think he would have had the text a long time ago.

I wonder if he failed a blood test.

  5. Fedor little brother is also fighting. Alexander. I use the term little loosely. Hes 6'6 250  His brother is 6'0 235 and yet somehow is very strong. Bear power or something heh.

For those who haven't heard of it before:

On whether people really hunt bears with knives:

Emelianenko: Yes, they do. A few years ago there was an unfortunate incident. One sportsman, a world champion in wrestling … what was he doing? Yes, he was putting a fork under the bear’s neck. [The practice of hunting bears with a knife involves, once the bear is in front of you, placing a long stick with a letter U-shaped end under the bear’s muzzle as it rears up to fight. Once the stick is in place, the bear isn’t able to bring its body down and the hunter stabs it a number of times, ideally killing it instantly.]

And then the bear couldn’t attack him, and he was stabbing it under the ribs in the heart. And as he was stabbing it, that bear swung with its paw. It was dead already -- the paw was its last gasp with all its strength and basically took half of the wrestler’s head off. And of course the other hunters opened fire on the bear, but it was too late. He went to try his luck with a bear, and it didn’t come off.

For me everything is still fine. I’m OK. I’ve done it and it was OK. About half a year ago, it was in Russia, in Siberia. Everything was fine. I put the fork underneath him and stabbed him in the heart. And that was it. The other hunters dismembered, prepared the bear.

I want to go hunting in Africa now, with friends. I’ve been invited.

Badass. Anyhow, I definitely want to try to catch the Affliction. Heheh, illness joke.

Tell you what, though. If you fought under the name Mr. Noodles, that would be the coolest thing ever.

"Fighting out of the blue corner, with a mixed martial arts record of 12 and 1, from Vancouver, Canada...

    Mistah Nnnnoooooooodles!"

I'll be sure it's my nickname!

  6. nice. Theres more schools out there so maybe there are some cheaper ones?

    http://www.mmavancouver.com/index.html

here is the one that the Vancouver Canucks went to taught by a dude named Adam Ryan.

"Adam received his black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu under 7th degree black belt Professor Marcus Soares who is Carlson Gracie Seniors highest-ranking student in the world."

Marcus is the one that taught Denis Kang. Ive heard one on one with Marcus Soares costs big time $$$.

Maybe Adam is a lot cheaper. I didnt see prices on the site though.

I know there is a Ju-jutsu club at UBC, which would be cheap, but I believe it's classical stuff. I've done classical martial arts in the past, so I'm more interested in the modern stuff. Thanks for the link, I may inquire there.

  7. 2 free classes with this coupon! B)

Heheh, I did see that bit. I'm definitely considering it, as I'd like to learn BJJ.

edit: I found it: For only BJJ it's $149 per month, or $135 per month for 4 months or $105 per month for 16 months, plus a couple more options. I kind of figured it would be that pricey. Looks like my MMA career will have to wait until I'm done school.

  8. Here's something I've was curious about, and then looked into a bit. I was trying to figure out why the all the fighters look like they weigh a bit more than the weight classes they fight in. So I thought about it, and then found out that in accordance with my suspicions, they don't weigh in on the day of the fight. So what does this mean is happening? They are cutting down 10-20 pounds (depending on the weight class) a day before the weigh in, and gaining it all back directly afterwards. Turns out this is generally done by not eating anything and wearing several layers of clothing in a sauna. Now to me this doesn't seem right. The UFC claims to be concerned about the safety of their competitors, so how can they justify the dangerous process of soaking every bit of water out of one's body? To be competitive, fighters have to do this, otherwise they'll end up fighting someone with 10-20 pounds of muscle on them. And how are weight classes at all representative of true fighting weight when your lightweights are really welterweights.
