Here in Comox we definitely felt it. Nothing major though, just swaying objects etc.

@KristenOdlandCH
Clearly I hadn't seen the severity of the injury on Sedin or a proper replay of the hit Byron laid out. Sorry for offending. Hope he is OK.
Well, at least she apologized.
I like the whole tone of "Obviously I wasn't at fault for my words but 'Sorrrry.'"
Despite the fact that the severity of the hit was immediately apparent.

games will still air on CBC, as well as on Sportsnet and CITY. (CBC just doesn't get any ad revenue any more)
That was my understanding... so why would Hughson move back to Sportsnet?
-
So does Hughson join Sportsnet next season??
Am I missing something? I know CBC is no longer competing for sports rights but HNIC is supposed to continue for at least 4(?) more years. Was something else announced?
-
Lets just call this game...

Kristen Odland, the POS reporter from Calgary, can go screw herself with her gutless comments about the Sedins after that. Real professional there, Kristen. Hope you're fired.
I missed them, can you elaborate?
More of a bad hit rather than an intentional cheapshot. Suspendable but malice was not intended.
Agreed.

he moved his arm and when they were talking to him i saw him move his head a bit, which is a good sign
Thanks Doc

Carolina won - so we are 6th no matter what right?
Yes, barring the lottery changing the draft order.

Linden says during intermission interview with Murph that this team can be a playoff team next season
Yeah... but if you watched it was clear that he said that because that is something he knows needs to be said. I think he's lookīng longer term.

from what trevor said about style of play... i do believe Torts will be here and players will be on the way out.
Funny, I ended up with the opposite impression ("I believe in this core" etc. etc.) though I also get the impression nothing has been officially decided.

I do hope Naslund joins the new regime in some capacity though I'm also a little wary of simply handing out jobs to retired jerseys...

wow, sochi is expecting +17 celsius on thursday!
Perfect* conditions! Gary's on the phone right now trying to get them to move the men's hockey tournament outdoors.
* That is, "perfect", if you think having an outdoor game in Los Angeles made any sense whatsoever

Would these guys mind flying their Toronto freak flags elsewhere?
This reminds me of a funny story. I was on a ship where the Captain was a die hard Leafs fan and the Second Mate was an equally die hard Habs fan. As we passed a group of people waving on shore in the St. Lawrence the Captain ordered the Mate to sound a salute on the whistle and wave to the crowd. The Mate didn't know why but he shrugged his shoulders and followed the order.
Turns out it was Richard Peddie and his family and we had a giant Leafs flag flying from our stern...

Holy crap. CBC is just all over us tonight
To be fair - they like to point out shortcomings at the best of times. This is their opportunity to legitimately point out how terrible the team is. They're about as content as your golden retriever rolling around in its own crap.
-
Not bashing the 1964 Leafs but couldn't this ceremony be scheduled for another day where a bunch of the players won't need to fly to Russia post-game?
-
Whoa....and you think you have a rough job?
I'll admit that that would be pretty bad on a fishing boat.
This is raw footage from a storm in 2011 when we took shelter in St. George's Bay, Newfoundland. It is tough to get the scale of the waves rolling past us but they're getting up to around 35ft. It got much worse that night as we started to take rollers over the bow and we ripped apart our anchor windlass. Ultimately we had no choice but to use the engines to prevent the ship from slamming into the shore (about 1nm behind us).
The wind was steady around 75kts and ended up gusting to 89kts. That night it got over 100kts.
Oh, and while we were nice and comfortable on the bridge... listen to the radio call at 3:30. That's the First Mate on another ship calling his bridge telling them he's made it to the forward end of the vessel and that he is going to try to raise the anchor (if it is too rough you can steam into the swell to prevent the kind of damage we ended up doing to our windlass). He has literally tied himself to the railing in order to stop from being blown overboard. Amazingly, he eventually managed to get the anchor up.
Also, this is someone else's video of my most recent ship. The pictures were taken during a trip across the Atlantic in the late '80s... (music, video, and pictures are not mine)
Just for a size comparison, that structure on the deck of the ship is the pump house. Here is a picture of two 6ft guys standing on top of it...

Well, I am so glad we get to see a Toronto vs Toronto game instead of a historical MLS game...

Also the Grey Cup is one of the few events that the Americans haven't taken over and screwed up yet, it is basically a Canadian party, so lets celebrate with Canadian artists, Lightfoot is a legend, his music is a bit mellow but no more so than Blue Rodeo, Beiber is the hot ticket (Odin only knows why) at the moment, I must confess I am not familiar with the other singer, I rarely listen to radio or Muchmusic.
I get what you're saying, and it is clearly what the organizers are thinking... but if you are the CFL and are going to be using the "Canadian artists" theme (as they often do) I am sure you could dig up a band or two that would present a more consistent(?) show. Like someone else said, I have no love for Nickelback but they'd fit a lot more than shoehorning Lightfoot in with pure pop,
I also liked the "under 16, over 60 crowd" comment.
BTW, I have no choice but to like Lightfoot... I sail on a freakin' Great Lakes Freighter....

You know that "Call Me Maybe" singer made more money with that one song than you will your whole life. She has a name you know, show some pride for your good Canadian singers.
-
No. This is wrong on so many levels. I hated the Nickelback deal, but at least it was football crowd music - loud, rowdy, fire 'em up crap that suited the atmosphere. This is blasphemy. Expect 900,000 screaming 12 year olds to show up.
Maybe it plays well in Toronto?
-
Looks like they're shooting for the over 60 - under 16 demographic....
I felt bad for Dave Randorf having to try to sell it on TSN...
-
lol at Grey Cup halftime show...
Gordon Lightfoot sharing the stage with Bieber and that "Call Me Maybe" singer.

1 game elimination. Regular MLS playoff rules apply. Two 15 min half's of ET (if tied at end of .90 min), and then PK's if still tied.

Can someone explain format of the #4 vs #5 game? I imagine it is set up to avoid a tie game. Is there an overtime of some kind followed by penalties?
OMG Earthquake?

Yeah, an earthquake just a week after the lunar eclipse... keep your eyes open for four horsemen.
