  1. You didn't think a lot. You just don't think at all.

So you seriously thought that he would surpass 30 goals? You would be lying if you said that you did. No one sane expected the Canucks to be one of the highest scoring teams and no one though Burrows would hit 35.

  2. This sentiment is tiresome to say the least. Jordan Schroeder is a short hockey player, but his strength to height ratio is extremely high. Even if he never gets to be 5'10" there is no reason to think he wont be a productive NHLer. Patrick Kane is listed at 5'10" tell me if you believe that. Schroeder is already heavier than Kane, and will likely have a similar playing style to Martin St. Louis who is listed at 5'9"(I would say he has had a great career).

Im not sure where you are from, but 6'0" isnt considered a midget, which is exactlly what Rodin and Hodgson are listed at. I realize they arent Joe Thornton or Ryan Getzlaf, but not every player is. Mike Gillis is building the team with ONE major focal point and that is SKILL. Would you consider Datsyuk, Zetterberg, M.Richards and Crosby midgets? I wouldnt, and guess what they all have in common, they are listed as the same height or shorter than, to use your term "midgets", Hodgson and Rodin.

What would you rather have a bunch of tall semi-skilled guys, or a bunch of average sized highly-skilled players?

I know what I would choose, and based on the most successful team of the past decade (Detroit), skill beats size most of the time!

I would rather have a bunch of tall highly skilled players.

People forget, you can list all the 5'10 or under guys you want but there is a difference between having one or two on your team compared to having tons.

Edmonton is going to have to trade a bunch of them because of this same issue and I would rather not go through the same thing. Right now the way our prospects are looking, we definitely need up and coming size. Like it or not, no matter how skilled these guys are, a bunch of them up and down our line up simply would not work.

    Say something like this happened

    Sedin Sedin Rodin

    Schroeder Hodgson Grabner

As your top 6. Do you really think that would cut it? Top 4 defenseman would tear them apart. We need a few roid monkeys and if they don't bulk up or grow, we should trade one or two. I would be fine if they were like Burrows or Kesler gritty but they really don't seem like those type of players so they at least need some size to survive like the Sedins.

  3. Schroeder was listed as 5'9" and 187lbs at the world juniors this year.

He was 5'8" 175 at the summer training camp this year (and that's what he's listed as on CDC.

His college page lists him as 5'9" 180 lbs.

I think he may have grown a little, since the 2 most up to date listings have him at 5'9"

Sweet, that is great news. Hopefully he grows some more because the 5'8 really worried me. Here is hoping for a major growth spurt.

  4. Who cares about height, what you need is skill in this league to be a good hockey player

Look at players like Kane, Ennis, Gerbe, Kennedy, Gionta, Cammaleri, Paul Kariya, St Louis, Parise, Whitney, McDonald, etc

These guys are 5'10 and smaller in height but are having decent and some very good careers. So Height doesn't always make a player good.

I have faith Schroeder will become a great player for us in the future.

5'10 is all good but unfortunately he is not 5'10. The only player ever that is shorter than 5'8 to EVER have a great career is Fleury. Gionta is 5'8 but he really isn't that great. I wouldn't have signed him.

Plus you have to look at the big picture. If Hodgson and Rodin make the team, you really do not want anymore midgets. You would be nuts if you didn't want any of our smaller prospects to have a growth spurt. I would rather him grow 2 inches than score a lot of points in College hockey.

  5. I always liked both Burrows and Kesler even when everyone was jumping on our bottom 6. Although I would never predict that they would score as much as they do now, I would be fine with them on my team even if they didn't score.

I will go out on a limb here and say Hansen will be the next good player people bash whenever we trade him. Whoever gets him will get a steal considering we won't get much for him.
