How so? The media knew all our signings a long time ago. They have the inside scoop on this team
and also sources in other organizations.
Allvin lies pretty regularly, so not sure why the smarminess against Seravalli. For being good at his job?
Agreed, although I like that PA is willing to “mislead” and doesn’t feel compelled to be fully transparent. There needs to be a level of discretion when discussing possible moves with other teams.

Plus, at 24 he's still got time to learn. D men can often take a bit longer to develop and really find their game.
Other teams may have had cap/other reasons to pass on him as well. Doesn't mean we have to follow their lead.
Agreed. Also, other teams likely have better young Dmen in their system. The Canucks defence has been brutally thin for several years. This could be a good pick up, for the right price.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that doesn't kick in until July 1.

Miller and schenn are the only ones they absolutely need to make a decision on this week.
Why Miller? He can be moved in the off season when more teams have the cap space.

Dude, its obvious he isnt a player you want on your team if you want to be a contending team. He doesn't have the tools. Get over it.
Unless the Canucks can get value in a trade, I think we should wait, at least until the off season where more teams will have some cap flexibility.
Trading him while his stock is low doesn’t make sense to me.
My preference would be to give him the off season to try and fully recover, and strengthen up his game.
So, the Canucks will likely trade him for a B prospect, and retain 50%…

If he wants to be here, he can resign in the off season, and should want to come back to an improved team. IMO, they have no choice but to trade him.

It's not hindsight if you called it at the time.
Psst. Yes it is.

hopefully Allvin and management understands that.
I’m sure they do. The real question may be - Does Aquaman want to pay the $5 million bonus?
Historically, ownership has shown that they are willing to pay, and overpay, in order to try and reach, or go over, the cap ceiling.
Given that the Canucks continue to flounder, Covid financial losses, no playoff revenue, that sellouts are a thing of the past, his divorce and abuse allegations, etc., perhaps he would rather just ditch the contract instead of paying that bonus in the hopes of getting an extra 3rd round draft pick (or whatever the extra return may be).
In the end, it may be the only option to trade Myers, but if a trade comes along that allows the Canucks to deal him prior to the bonus payout, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled the trigger.

I hate these types of rumours. Of course everyone is available…
for the right price.

We need a decent hard working defender who can play 60 minutes not scraps.
I’d settle for a solid 16 minutes

I don't think Canucks will make full tear down..
Canucks will keep - Demko 26-- Hughes 22-- Petey23 -- Podkolzin 21- Mikheya -- (1 -Horvat 27 or Miller 29)
Boeser or Garland -- I would trade Boeser
Hoglander 21- great speed I would be in no rush to move him..
They'll also be sure to keep Ekman-Larsson.

I see no downside to this move. We need RHD. We got one for a song.
Is he a legit top 4? No, but right now, our right side is AHL quality at best.

Any kind of retention over that period of time is simply not acceptable under any circumstances. That one trade summed up just how incompetent that unqualified clown was.
That trade worked out just fine for the Canucks. Especially given that Luongo had free reign to choose what team he could go to.

Gillis retained $800k for 5 years. Wasn’t that big of a deal. What killed us was the fact that Luongo retired before his deal was concluded and so we ended up with a recapture penalty of just over $3 million for 3 years afterwards that just ended this summer.
Yeah. I know about the recapture. I’d forgotten about the retained salary, which as you said, wasn’t a big deal.

Retaining salary on OEL long-term would net the need to fire the entire management team on the spot. That's almost as bad as Gillis being stupid enough to retain salary on the Luongo trade.
Did Gillis retain salary on the Luongo trade?

Any one of us would gladly take 70k to play in the AHL. I see this as a show me deal. Hopefully, he plays well and can turn next years contract into a 1 way deal.
