  1. Child 44 3/10 --- And the 3 is because I have a huge man crush on Tom Hardy...

The movie is an adaption of a novel, but it cant decide if it wants to be a child serial killer murder mystery or a film that deals with the injustices of the MGB (bascially the Soviet Gestapo) and the Stalin regime, and so instead treads right in the middle of both. Its all over the place... and the resolution to both plotlines is as pointless as the build to get there. I couldnt understand how a movie with Oldman, Hardy and Rapace, that took place is a post WW2 USSR had such poor reviews, now I know.

If you read the book, by all means, check it out. Otherwise skip it, or watch a better lesser-known Hardy film like Bronson, or Rock-N-Rolla

  2. I cant recall in my 40+ years living in Vancouver the air quality being this horrid.

Only time that comes close is when Burns Bog was burning when I was a kid.

Sure glad our Premier was busy tweeting about True Detective last night & not busy actively finding a solution to resolve this problem quicker.

LOL!! I am all for CC bashing but seriously... that one was a stretch. I know she isn't a great premier, but I bet she's a worse firefighter. Lets leave that to the people who know what they're doing.

  3. In terminator 1984, Kyle said this to Sarah

"It can't be bargained with, It can't be reasoned with, It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead"

In terminator genisys, john connar said this

"I can't be bargained with, I can't be reasoned with. I don't feel pity or fear. And I will not stop until the machines rule this world"

Almost a direct quote to me

    Again, this make no sense...

And for the record.... The last sentence is completely different... so how is this a direct quote again? lol

Btw, clearly you missed my original joke, mocking the grammar and spelling in the other guys "quote" ... And not claiming that the quote wasn't from the movie...

  4. Today was a marathon of movie watching:

    Collateral - 7/10

About what I remembered. Also, probably the last good film Michael Mann ever did.

The Company We Keep - 8/10

This film was not well received by critics, but I really enjoyed it. Not Robert Redford's greatest work, but it's always nice seeing him in a film and directing. Shia Labeouf was good, and I think a very underrated actor. All star cast in this one. Lots of well known, A Lister's in supporting roles.

Pirates of the Caribbean (whatever the last one was called) - 4/10

Forgettable, but nice to have on in the background as we unpacked from camping.

Lastly, just started watching John Carter. We'll see.

    :picard:

  5. Some people may have found it annoying, but I loved how long the build up to Hardy's violence took

The whole movie would have been completely different if not for that. That was kind the underlying theme of the movie and it worked very well. People think all movies need to be straight forward action without the need for tension and build up. I really like that movie as well. Tom Hardy nailed it. --- as usual.

  6. Terminator Genisys - 2.5/10

I have look forward to this movie for a long, long time. This movie (1984 version) has inspired me to create my own story in attempt to make an even better movie when i was 6 years old. Let me start with the positive of this movie. NEEDLESS TO SAY BUT MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD.

Emilia Clarke is obviously cute, she is doing an okay job on her role as Sarah Connar, she could have a much meaner character like the original Sarah Connar, but her interpretation is not bad as well. Arnold Schwarzenegger, what can you say about him? Of course he is great at his role, could use a lot less humor from him though. Last but not least, the action in the first twenty to thirty minutes, especially the scene in 1984 is good.

    Here comes the negatives.

Just because its a classic dialogue from the previous classics, it doesn't necessary meant you have to use it. "Come with me if you want to live" is fine. But how on earth can John said the exact same thing as Kyle Reese did in 1984. John said " I can't be reasoned with It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear until skynet ruled this world" There is no way John could say almost the exact word as Kyle, what is this dialogue trying to say anyways? Its very confusing.

The humor is annoying at best. This movie is about stopping the end of the world, and there are a lot of intentional humor in it. It absolutely killed the intensity and atmosphere that a Terminator movie should have. How on earth can someone thought the smiling or blending in jokes is funny at all. Even if it is funny, it has no place in a Terminator movie. I am absolutely disgusted when they played the bad boys music during the arrest scene. What does it mean? I know it almost sound like i am nitpicking in here, but this isn't funny at all, and once again killed any intensity in this movie. Thanks, you guys forget what makes the first terminator so good and turned the series into a joke. Good job. I swear i could have done a much better job at cutting. Don't get me started on the mating jokes, seriously, its extremely immature. You can bite me if you don't like my opinion.

There are a lot of pointless dialogue back and forth between Kyle Reese and Sarah Connar, I remember none of their dialogues because almost none of them bought any significance to the movie. Not only are those dialogues tedious and boring, it brought the pace of the movie to a complete halt. Is the director intentionally trying to make this a terrible movie to ensure we don't have to endure another terminator movie? Thanks a lot, you are a true hero to all of us. You sacrifice your career to protect all of us from future suffering, i salute you sir!

Jai Courtney is absolute horrible in this movie. His character seems to be void of any emotionals. Pops has more emotional scene than him for God's sake. I think this is a plot twist. I had reasonable evidence to believe that the real Kyle Reese has been killed, and this is a robot posing as him. This would make so much sense because robots cannot have sex, and thus explained his reluctance to mate with Sarah Connar. If they were to make out, his real identity would be exposed. Also, the real Kyle Reese absolutely adore Sarah, this Kyle Reese doesn't seems to love Sarah at the beginning.

Terminator movie should be a simple movie, this piece of mess is needlessly complicated and boring. The good news is I can now look forward to Terminator Edxodus where Arnold Schwarzenegger led three million desktop computers out of Egypt. Rumor suggest they will reveal ten robotic rules in that movie as well!

I have a hard time believing that was a direct quote... Unless dyslexia is a big issue in the future.

  7. I also watched It Follows recently;

Directly after the viewing, I would have said 5/10, but after having a few days to think about it, Ill give it a 8/10.

It was a rare horror movie that had me thinking about it days after watching it. Its more disturbing after the credits roll than while watching it. Great pacing, and it relied on atmosphere and tension over gore and jump scares. I have not had "nightmares" from movies since i was a child, but this movie gave me unsettling dreams. It definitely wont be everyone's cup of tea, and some will get turned off by the music and the setting, but if you stick through it, its worth it.

  8. Had not gone to theaters in 4-5 months... prior to may, Went each of the last 4 weeks, brief reviews of each:

Furious 7 : 7/10 -- Better than 6, but 5 remains the pinnacle for the current cast. The Paul Walker tribute at the end brought some tears from people in my showing, Ill admit... It was pretty emotional.

Avengers 2 : 6/10 -- Good summer popcorn flick, but to be honest, im getting bored of the MCU movies... This one added nothing that the first didnt have, the final battle was copy/paste from Avengers 1, the enemies just had a different skin.

Mad Max : 10/10 -- I rarely give 10's, but this movie was all kinds of awesome. Amazing, it is everything that Avengers was not. Where avengers was action start to finish that relied heavily on CGI, Mad Max was action start to finish relying on practical effects and breathtaking stunts. It was so refreshing to see a movie made this way. Tom Hardy, as always, stole the show even by barely speaking.

Poltergeist 1/10 -- saw for free and still felt ripped off. Avoid like the plague. Movie had 1-2 jump scares and ZERO atmosphere. Saw with the wife who is a hide-under-her-hoodie out of fear in all horror movies was not scared in the least and laughed along with me at this train wreck. Sam Rockwell is one of the most underrated actors in our generation, but he phoned this one in and was unwatchable...HORRIBLE. Only reason it gets the 1 and not the 0 was the little girl was decent.

  9. Muscle memory will be good for you. You'll regain the muscle in a few weeks of working out.

Ya, from my research this last month thats what I have concluded as well.

Sucks though right now, I went from 195 down to 187 in 4 weeks. I wanted to cut around now anyways, but cutting lifting out completely has caused significant mass decreases... Im really hoping I can just pump it back...

  10. GOING CRAZY!!! Broke my wrist 4 weeks ago, and have been relegated to legs/abs and a ton of cardio. My gains in my arm/chest/shoulders slowly degrading and there is nothing I can do.... To make it worse, my stag is in vegas 4 weeks after I get the cast off....

Positive is I look way leaner, on account of the cardio...

Negative is my arms are shrinking!

  11. He had more of a wit than Loki... I think the trailer had us hyped up a bit too much when he did the whole "I have no strings on me" line. James Spader was brilliant, but you're right, Ultron was a tiny bit not physical enough...

Spader rocked it... Ultron stole the show with what he said, but physically... Especially in his "final" form, it left something to be desired... especially considering the source material, where he dominated the avengers and killed some of them... Nice homage to that with Starks vision however.

  12. Nah, it's too fun. It's actually kind of cute just how much you guys can't stand someone saying something negative about Seattle.

Do you guys also put "HawkGang" in your facebook names? I have 4 people on my facebook who put "HawkGang" as their middle name. Is it something someone on the team tweeted out to do?

It's funny, the Hawks fans who are season ticket holders of many years who suffered through the Holmgren era, and some from before that, are able to critique their team, and have discussed with me how they wouldn't want to face Green Bay in the playoffs, or New England in the Super Bowl and why. It's the fans of the last 12-24 months who are all Wilson is God, Seahawks could win the NFL, NBA and NHL championships, yadda yadda.

    A lot of fun.

I have been a die-hard since I started seriously following the NFL as a kid about 15 years ago. I remember the hard times of the early 2000s, the bullshit officiating in the 2006 superbowl, and the end of the painful Holmgren era. I just wanted to make sure I met your requirements to say this; At home, with how Seattle is playing, I dont think any NFC teams are good enough to beat Seattle at home. If it was in GB, it would be another story. Seattles defense, especially at home, is playing at an absolutely disgusting pace. Obviously, anything can happen, but there isnt one team I would say "on no" too over another in the NFC. Denver or NE however, would give me cause for concern.

  13. You can say what you want about legendary and exotic engrams being increased, I play this game all of the time and I still get squadoosh in terms of that. I regularly do 5-10 bounties a day (when I can get on) and still no exotic bounty, I have found a total of 3...3!!!! legendary engrams... one a shotgun, one a fusion, one a hand cannon.

I have all leg armor from purchasing from dead orbit... i did get one from the queens bounty mission, but other than that... natta.

Never had a blue jump to purple, never found a purple armor piece, never a decent purple primary...

I bought ice-breaker, which is now my first exotic, (and I am 2 light away from being lvl 28). I bought 3 engrams with motes of light, all 3 ended up being for warlock, I am a titan, broke them all down and levelled up my armor at least.

I have done the raid twice, both times, shards... shards.... shards.... one time, every member of my team got the atheon auto-rifle, all but me, shards. No raid gear, no guns, shards...

But my favorite, I played a crucible match, went 31-4 on control (best rd ever), and EVERYONE on my team got at least 1 purple engram, 2 got 2!!!! It was amazing, but me... nothing, nattta.

Lol, just bad luck I guess.
