Agree to disagree.  My POV is that Jake needs to show why he was drafted this year.  Not be a finished project, but play with determination, drive and intensity.  This would mean a much better AHL stat line and a much more upbeat player.  I do think he needs to be on the farm for a good chunk of the year with a few sips of the NHL.

To destroy an analogy, His is first pro season was all carrot, the second mostly whip.  This year needs to start off whip and end with the carrot.

If Jake produces a lack lustre AHL season, I'm out.  I don't think he will.  The biggest thing holding him back was fitness, that seems to be addressed.  I expect him to have a great camp, get sent down with the instructions yo tear the AHL a new asshole and be a fixture on the NHL team by the TDL.  Then be back in Utica for the playoffs and start next year in the NHL.

So so for me, Jake has to show me as a fan that has battled the naysayers on this thread for endless pages that my hunch is valid.  If not I am out.

Like eriksson this year @ 6m/6yrs?

Id rather of signed vrbata for 2 or 2.5 mill a year.  Safer contract less risk. Doesnt future destroy our cap for 6 yrs..  and keeps us free to sign real talent when good UFA's are available.

You may have said this before the season started but the majority didn't like his attitude last year and realized it was time to move on.  Hindsight is always 20/20 but with 5 goals in his last 8 he looks like the player we thought he was.  And he is not playing with first liners.  Maybe he can help carry a line on his own and get away from the top checkers.

Also, with the top end players making 9-10 million a guy who can pot 30 goals on a good team will probably get 23-25 on a bad team and is worth the 6m.  That's the market when 29 other teams might be bidding.

I see the Canucks making a soft trade for Kane, and maybe trading a top 6 dman for another 20-25 goal scorer in the off season and/or using the money freed up to get another decent UFA.  I can see Hansen getting a 1st rounder from a good team.  There is historical proof that he is worth that to a contending team.

    My lineup next year:

    Sedin         Sedin       Kane

    Baer          Horvat      Eriksson

    25G Fwd   Sutter       Boeser

    Granlund   Gaunce   Labate

    Dorsett

I would carry 8 d-men next year again and trade one of them - my preference would be Edler for a 1st + at the deadline and his no move clause can suck it.

    Trym      Tanev

    Hutton    Guddy

    Juolevi    Stetcher

    Sbisa      UFA/Subban

    Markstrom 1A

    UFA  1B

With Miller, Edler (a man can dream), Burrows and Hansen out you save roughly 17.5.

With Kane(5M), 25 goal scoring forward back for Edler (5M), a 1b goalie (3M) and Boser in (2M with bonuses likely), you add roughly 15.

And in my imaginary world we get 2 additional 1st rounders for Edler and Hansen and have a good looking younger team for next year.
