  1. Something from CPTDB: They're ordering 28 SkyTrain cars for the Evergreen Line. 28 cars works out to 7.5 trains consisting of two MARK IIs. The train could look something like this: Also with the opening of the Evergreen Line, the Millenium Line could cease to exist. Trains from VCC-Clark will run as "Evergreen Line to Douglas College" and vice versa. Trains from Waterfront will run as "Expo Line to Lougheed Town Centre" and "Expo Line to King George" TransLink is considering adding a middle car to it's Mark II trains to match the length of the six-car Mark Is. Do they not have enough trains? Couldn't they do... VCC-Clark to Waterfront - Millennium Line to Waterfront Waterfront to VCC-Clark - Millennium Line to VCC-Clark VCC-Clark to Douglas College - Evergreen Line to Douglas College Douglas College to VCC-Clark - Evergreen Line to VCC-Clark Waterfront to King George - Expo Line to King George King George to Waterfront - Expo Line to Waterfront And for when the Millennium/Evergreen Line doubles between Lougheed Town Centre and VCC-Clark, announce trains as "Evergreen and Millennium Line train to VCC-Clark". Same goes for Expo and Millennium.
  2. Surrey Central densified because of the SkyTrain. There is little reason/incentive to densify if there's no SkyTrain. Most (if not) all the areas around the SkyTrain stations densified after it was built.

  4. They wouldn't be able to because of the trolley wires.
  5. New Flyer and NovaBus submitted bids. The NovaBus http://www.flickr.com/photos/dennistt/5266071782/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/chsscassidy/5887048948/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/dennistt/5265388769/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/dennistt/5265390167/ The seating on top of the back wheel is the same as the current NovaBus, but it seems like there is much more leg room. I'll admit the NovaBus is beautiful.
  6. The 99 B-Line is also an express bus. It's all in the branding. There's minute differences between the #43 and a B-Line service. People flock to the 99 B-Line because of its perception for being faster. In 2009, the #91 B-Line was supposed to replace the #43 on 41st Ave and #95 B-Line replacing the #135 on Hastings St. Delayed to 2011. Yet to happen. Perhaps TransLink should loosen the rules on what qualifies as B-Line service. As for expanding outwards, people in Surrey pay for taxes too and they haven't gotten squat.
  7. They could alleviate some of the problems of the 99 B-Line by making the high-occupancy vehicle actually bus only and anybody that turns will have to do so from outside the HOV lane. The problem is at major intersections, the buses are stuck behind cars trying to right-turn. There's so many cars and pedestrians that only one car can right turn in one light cycle.
  8. And it won't meet the needs of the future.
  9. It won't be done until after you have graduated. It's supposed to be built by 2020 (at least that was the promise few years ago) and construction won't begin until at least after the completion of the Evergreen Line in 2016. As I posted a few pages back, TransLink is ordering 25 low-floor articulated buses to be delivered in 2013. They're starting a King George B-Line, so how many of these buses will actually end up on the #99 is anybody's guess. Though they could use 40 foot buses on that route initially. TransLink wants bench seating at the back and the NovaBus doesn't offer that (at least not that I'm aware of), so it will most likely be the New Flyer Xcelsior.
  10. Coquitlam City Hall, Coquitlam Public Library, a swimming pool, a cultural centre, and a sports stadium are all at Guildford Way and Pinetree Way, but beyond that it's all residential. Doesn't seem like they need a SkyTrain to run there.
  11. Douglas College is still a dead end, no? Where else could the line extend to later on? Why not use that money to build the Evergreen Line all the way to Port Coquitlam now instead of to Douglas College and Coquitlam City Hall? Couldn't the 97 B-Line be augmented to run between Coquitlam Station and a loop at Douglas College on Pinetree Way?
  12. The Evergreen Line is supposed to terminate at Douglas College, kinda of a dead end for future expansion, no? Would it not make more sense for it to travel along Guildford Way after Ioco Station to Douglas College Station then south on Pinetree Way to Coquitlam Station? Then in the future the Evergreen Line can continue along the CPR railway tracks to Port Coquitlam Station and onto Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, and Mission?
  13. This is why we play Alex Burrows with the Sedins and not Jannik Hansen.
  14. Been a while since this thread was posted in. TransLink is ordering 25 low-floor, articulated hybrid buses with an option for 20 more to be delivered by February 2013. http://www.cptdb.ca/...showtopic=14293 They are going to be air conditioned.
  15. http://www.cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Coast_Mountain_Bus_Company Apparently 3211-3257, 3101-3199, 3201-3210 (all D40s) are all in storage right now. There are also the D60s (articulated), 3001-3021, that are in storage. Approximately 40 foot 154 buses and 20 60 foot buses. Looking forward to seeing these back on the streets.
  16. Apparently 180,000 hours of annual service will be added in the new year. Anybody know if TransLink even has buses to make this happen? Didn't they scrap all the New Flyer D40s after Olympics?
  17. I interpreted your statement as the bus driver was making spontaneous stops in between the actual bus stops along Broadway for people to get off.
  18. That wouldn't be the best driver in my books. He's extending the length of my trip.
  19. Oh well, it's just for illustration purposes.
  20. The bus stop signs and the scrolls are getting replaced. Wish they would add bus route numbers to even the local bus routes.
  21. You access it through http://m.translink.ca If you have air conditioning on the bus, fuel consumption is going to go way up. The bus isn't going to stay cool at all either with the doors opening and closing so frequently.
  22. The way I am picturing this is we will be able to see where the bus is on a map much like in Maps with the blue dot?
  23. I guess if you force passengers to wear seatbelts it would greatly reduce the efficiency of the system. It would take away the standing room on the bus. But the #351 travels on a freeway and uses the Orion V buses. Maybe it's time to introduce seatbelts on routes like this.
  24. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2011/07/26/bc-vancouver-pedestrian.html Is anybody actually going to drive 30 km/h on that stretch of the road? It's a 30 km/h on Columbia Street in New Westminster and cars regularly drive 60 km/h on that stretch or divert onto Front Street, which I also believe is a 30 km/h street. Cars will divert onto Pender Street which is even more dangerous with tons of people jaywalking and parked cars?
