Tallon is playing hardball until the very moment. I'm certain he is pushing for our 1st, 24th, and Shinkaruk, while JB is doing everything he can to retain Shinkaruk and replace that with Tanev or Sbisa. Tallon knows very well he won't get Shinkaruk along with our 1st and 24th, and something tells me he is quite well satisfied with getting Tanev or Sbisa to replace Shink on that deal, however, as all GMs do, he wants JB to "sweeten" the deal by adding more in return for FLA "lowering" the bar by taking Tanev or Sbisa over Shink. I'm 90% sure Tallon will trade the pick right before it is announced, he is just waiting to see how far he can push JB.

It's pretty clear. With us shipping Garrison off, as well as the rumor of us offering Tanev as part of this deal, we are aiming for Ekblad. Sure, JB said he is impressed with the local Sam Reinhart, but why would he publicly reveal our draft plan like that? I'm sure it is a plan to ease other teams in the mix for Ekblad so we can keep the bargaining cost lower with FLA. However, our recent moves are screaming for Ekblad and I'm guessing other GMs have realized this. I honestly doubt there is a better deal on the table than our 6th + 24th + Tanev, however, if there is, I'd rather we stay put and pursue Myers.
