  1. Please fire Benning.

It's not because of Benning the person. It's 7 years of little success, mostly failures, and saying "there's always next year".

We went from Mike Gillis who was smart/diligent/innovative/cut-throat and set out a clear objective to win the cup every year and was a game away from accomplishing it, to Jim 'I ran outta time' Benning. Lol.....

Why should he?  The Canucks haven't seen fit to promote him.

If he has the opportunity for a promotion he should jump at it.  Even if it is Toronto.

Maybe it's just me, but I would rather keep building on those established relationships with players like Horvat, Pettersson, and Miller rather than jump to the next opportunity. The Canucks are on the rise and he just jumps ship like that? Why not be a part of something you helped build? He's been an assistant for 3 years, he's not some sort of long-time assistant coach waiting in the wings for a chance; he still has some dues to pay. Idk, loyalty is few and far between in professional sports I guess.

So here's a question. Bieksa brought this up. All the canucks could do was defend and try holding off their forecheck and then finally chip the puck out and line change because they're gassed. Put This sequence on repeat the entire game. How do you beat their forecheck? Their forwards are big and fast and get to the end board nearly at the same time as our dmen. All our guys could do is protect the puck and themselves on puck retrieval and then end up in a board battle and then chase the puck and defend the front of the net and then chip out the puck.

There wasn't enough time to do anything else like make a play. How do you beat a super aggressive forecheck?

I give props to Vegas. They play good hockey.

Is our d too slow? Too small? So we need better forwards that can help these battles?

What are the glaring changes needed? It's hard to say for me because they seemed to just go into a shell and protect and clear puck so i dont know what needs fixing because i dont know what the weak link is.

Seriously. Vegas might be most impressive team systems-wise I've ever watched. Like, how could a team with a bunch of cast offs play such a relentless/fast/transitional style? This iteration of the VGK is going to go down in history as one of the most bizarre phenomenons in sports history for how good they got so fast.

  4. Green is an egomaniac. He is going to take his awful idea of LE being a defensively responsible winger thus he deserves to be in the top-six to the grave it seems like. It's not rocket science. You put your six best players who have shown to have chemistry and success in the past in the top-six. Easy. Simple. Yet, Green thinks he's Scotty Bowman reincarnated and is trying to justify his terrible lineup decisions by being stubborn about it. Anyone remember why he took Virtanen off the top line for no apparent reason??

  5. Miller has been amazing and the co-MVP with Markstrom. However, he needs to use his line-mates better. He gets bad tunnel vision and holds onto the puck for too long a lot of the time. So many instances where EP is open and Miller decides to do a lap instead and the scoring opportunity is wasted.

IF this is true it's a disaster. A chicken GM and a chicken head coach.

Paterson mentioned it on the TSN1040 post-game show last night.

Yup. Both the GM and Coach need to be fired.

Chronically losers with Benning and Green steering whatever mess this is.

This franchise used to be a top-class hockey organization, but is now a league-wide laughing stock.

  7. The fact that Green is no longer answering any questions from Paterson reflects what kind of a coach he is.

A true leader/coach does not waiver when the going gets tough. Imagine what his players are thinking when they hear that their coach can't face a little criticism. Green is in over his head at the NHL level and his stubbornness and ego has literally cost us points and a chance at the playoffs.

  8. I don’t expect this to be close thanks to our awful coach.

Travis Green hockey consists of playing the same system regardless of the opposition. No in-game adjustments, hardly any controlled zone entries or a player trailing the puck carrier, always dumping and chasing, a hapless two-man forecheck that gets nullified with a simple pass.

If I remember correctly, the Miller goal last night happened because Pettersson gained the zone with possession by evading two checks in the neutral zone because he can and he’s that good. But this idiot coach insists Miller, who turns the puck over a lot despite how good he is, does it or just forfeit the puck by dumping it. Like, Green should see that and design breakouts with Pettersson carrying the puck in the neutral zone with speed. Sometimes I wonder if these coaches even watch film or review the game afterwards. Fire this idiot please.

Instead of surrendering prime scoring chances against the Jayce Hawryluks and Rudolfs Balcers of the world, Demko will be on an island getting peppered from Matthews, Tavares, Nylander, etc.

It’s going to be a loooooong afternoon.

Trying to save his job??? We literally just resigned him and we have been a legit competitive team this year! Our prospect pool is getting filled and Madden was likely behind both Podkolzin and Hoglander in terms of making the team, and you can probably count some players in Utica above him too. Yes Madden was a good prospect but he probably wasn’t going to crack the roster anytime soon. And we had to give up something to get Toffolli.

We have a competitive team when our goalie plays like prime Hasek.

Our prospect pool is nothing special relatively speaking as all the other teams have similar prospects.

Madden could have been a cost-controlled 2-year ELC which would have been nice because idk if you've seen our cap situation but it isn't looking good. He could have slotted anywhere in the lineup, because, let's face it, we have garbage, overpriced wingers.
