I have to say, this one was so obscure that I had to google it, and even then it took about a half-hour of process of elimination; very inspired choice if I do say so myself.

Since I technically cheated, I will leave the answer but place it in a spoiler box in case someone still wants to figure this one out the right way...

    Eric Fichaud

  2. Adam Polasek more recently.

The idea of him playing in the CHL seemed like the best way to go but playing professionally is still a strong option. Hopefully he earns more minutes this coming season.

Sorry to play semantics, but, Polasek was drafted out of the QMJHL (a two year pre draft career with the PEI Rockets if I remember correctly). He was the last Czech player I remember drafting, but we didn't pick him out of the Czech Republic like Jasek.

"Ranked 20th by Central Scouting is another Extraliga tyke in Lukas Jasek, who’ll first turn 18 in August of this year. He has a year of hockey for Sodertalje in Sweden under his belt and also participated in last spring’s U18 tournament. This season, he has two assists in 23 games for Trinec in the country’s top league and is thought of as a likely first liner at the U18 tournament in Switzerland. The 6’1”, 172 pounder is a kid you may see in the CHL next season, whether taken by an NHL team this summer or not."

If this were to happen, does anyone currently own his rights, or would he have to be selected this import draft?

  4. He was given an A rating by CSS in 2014 meaning potential first round talent :o

Why was he available in the 6th then? Lack of exposure?

Regardless, I do like this pick, especially for a 6th rounder

  5. Ok. This kid may be a good pick, but I've been watching drafts since the 80's. I followed Kamloops in their heyday in the 90's. However, tonight I'm thinking Kelowna D-man Merkley. A WHL'er d-man. The path of Keith, Edler, et. al. Grab him. basics. But what do I know.

Sorry, but if I may be blunt, Merkley is a forward

  6. I can't believe people still think that Schroeder and Jensen were BPA.

    Still?!?

This fanbase has almost no hope.

Schroeder wasn't the best player available in 2009? I was under the impression he was one of the most skilled players in that draft and picking him at 22 was a no-brainer.

Would you please elaborate who you considered as the BPA at that point?

  7. Re: 2nd round start time (from Maple Leafs SB nation site):

    Rounds 2-7: Saturday, June 27 at 10 a.m. ET

Television: NHL Network (USA), Sportsnet (Canada)

Not certain how accurate they are, but that is the only number I found

  8. If they will be eliminated ;) but it looks like Brynäs won't win this round, Färjestad is a strong team. Brynäs got crushed 7-3 in the first playoff game..

And to answer your question, I'm not really sure actually. But Calle Klingberg, Thrashers prospect, was signed by the Thrashers before this season and was on loan to the SEL for the season. Just like Rödin is signed by the Canucks and on loan to Brynäs. Now, Klingberg's team is done for the season and he will play the rest of the season in the AHL. So I guess Rödin could play in the AHL if Brynäs gets eliminated early and if he wants to play in the AHL this season. But as I said, I'm not sure. Would be exciting to see how he does on the smaller ice in the AHL though I must say :)

Thank you very much for this information on Rodin, as well as the continuous updates on his play. I greatly appreciate the effort you have gone through so that all Canucks fans can get insight on one of their future players. Thank you johanlake!

  9. Update:

Anton Rodin has 25 points in 47 games, (7+18). There are eight games left in the SEL regular season.

Is Rodin's team in the playoff picture now, or will he be done for this SEL season at that time?
