Lammiko/Juulson trade for OJ doesnt look too bad now.

No it doesn’t but OJ should’ve been dealt years ago when he was worth more. JB also held onto Virtanen when there was a market for him yet let Toffoli, Markstrom, Tanev and Stecher walk for nothing. Terrible asset management. Hopefully the Rutherford team pulls the trigger on some value deals soon because like it or not, this team is in the mushy middle of a 500 hockey team which isn’t good enough to make the playoffs and not poor enough to have a decent lottery ticket. Terrible spot to be in while capped out.

  2. I’ve been on the fire Green bus for a long time and that view hasn’t changed. What has changed for me is I now think JB goes with him. Green hasn’t been able to get the best out of this roster, see the performances of Boeser & EP in particular. I fear if this goes on much longer we will lose EP as well. There’s clearly talent at the top end of this roster and he’s not maximising it.

I do r believe JB has done a good job of roster construct. It may not be all his fault though as the rumours of FA and his meddling get stronger. The blue line aside from Hughes is diabolical. Myers, Poolman & Hamonic occupying almost $12m in cap space is a case in point. All are third pair D men in my view. OEL has been solid but his cap hit for a long period is nothing short of awful. Where are the prospects? Carolina replaced Hamilton for a fraction of the cap space spent on this diabolical blue line. Trading First round picks recently doesn’t help. Letting assets like Tanev & Markstrom walk for nothing is completely unacceptable and bad asset management. Markstrom wasn’t worth the 6 years but surely he needs to understand that’s the price prior to the deadline, sell high and get assets back or if you’re committing to him, sell off Demko (not upset at the decision to promote Demko BTW). Tanev was worth the risk IMO and letting Toffoli walk after paying a premium prior to the deadline in order to re-sign Virtanen… JB has just made a calamity of the roster. Schmidt and Holtby couldn’t wait to get outta here and are now playing well. Coincidence?

It’s time the owner bites the bullet and sacks both the GM & coach. IMO ge should hire a president and step the fk away & let them do their job. First priority should be to find out whether Brock, Bo & JT plan on sticking around, the answer to those questions will dictate what happens next but the damage JB has done with the roster and cap management makes undoing some of these errors potentially difficult.

  3. Anyone has to be better than Green. Another step in the right direction according to him tonight. WTF? He’s got a .482 coaching record into his fifth season, who else has had that sort of record after four seasons and been retained? The worst thing is that tonight, the Canucks have an even worse record than at the same mark of last season, let that sink in for a moment. Ownership seem content to flush another season and walk Bo & JT to UFA with this rabble. Change needs to come soon or they’ll likely lose those two and potentially Brock. Where to then?

  4. How accurate is sekeres usually? His latest tweet seems to indicate high level meetings at the club and speculates on another as well as possible changes. Hopefully he’s right because the organisation has sat idle for too long IMO. Green to go & if things don’t turn soon after JB too. Personally I’d be ok with both going but either way, the shake up needs to occur soon.

  5. I suspect that Green will be gone soon, Benning will survive initially but if the team isn’t showing signs of turning things around before the trade deadline, I think JB will be gone too. Let’s wait and see bug change has got to come. I find it poor that JB seems to be in the witness protection program while the team is turning into a tyre fire. Time to answer some questions JB.

There is a HUGE BENEFIT to canning the current GM...it gives the NEW GM the rest of the year to evaluate the players, especially leading up to the TDL. New GM can then maybe move some players out for picks or prospects...Also gives the NEW GM nearly a full year to assess his scouts, make any changes like bring in his OWN Assistant GM and have a decent game plan leading into the 2022 Draft and FA.

It would be FOOLISH to not can the GM now and to wait to the end of the year...teams are less likely to let Managerial people go to a degree but MOST IMPORTANTLY it gives the NEW GM little to no time to assess the team, get ready for the draft etc...

I 100% DISagree with what you say, BOTH should go but the first should be the GM, so he doesn't make any short sided moves...give the NEW GM time to talk to the players and assess Green on his own, can still FIRE Green soon after being hired

Fair enough. I respect that view. I see it slightly differently though in that I believe the coach isn't getting the best out of the playing group. What if a new coach comes in and the performance spikes such as Calgary under Sutter? I think the coach needs to change first in order to judge the roster. What we’re seeing now is a continuation of last season IMO. What’s the definition of insanity? We should see change if there’s another blowout tonight.

  7. How far have we come since that interview with the Swedish reporter that worried so many. He clearly put the heat on the organisation to build a winner & he should be driving that bus as a $7.5m player. He’s not. He’s been very poor so far this season and pressure will come. I’m prepared to give him some time given his long layoff with Covid and the wrist injury but his constant falling over, poor puck protection and defensive lapses concern me. The great unknown to me is what’s the relationship like with Green? TG gave him the rounds of the kitchen sink in Denver the other night, I didn’t see a response in Vegas either. Has he checked out from TG?
