  1. Does anyone know anything about EA acquiring different leagues to be in the game this year?  I just ask because I noticed that Jack Hughes was already in the game, despite in previous years, players needing to play their first NHL or AHL game before they had the rights to use them in game. And obviously NCAA/USHL were not in previous editions. As well supposedly Kravtsov and Shestyorkin are on the list of players who’ve been face scanned for their in game characters, despite both of these players playing in the KHL all of last season

  2. With the Canucks now having a surplus of forwards and the sabres having a surplus of defence, I’m hoping the time is right for a Risto trade.  Pieces i’d be okay with in the deal include Baertschi, Virtanen, perhaps Gaud or Madden, Goldy, Stecher or Tanev if Buffalo wants another D.  I feel like value wise something could be worked out including the assets listed above

  3. In a way Broberg reminds me of Carlo. Big body with all the tools but a lot of fear over taking him due to IQ. Lots of fans look silly now as Carlo is a great player for the Bruins.  The way I see it, the concerns over Broberg come after he gets past the opponents blue line.  If he can wheel the puck in to the zone, that alone is something the canucks sorely lack

JB's draft picks have always come as surprises. I don't remember ever hearing even a whisper beforehand about the Canucks interest in any of the players he has picked. I would say the fact that there is a rumour the team is interested in Broberg is a guarantee that they will be picking someone else.

Eh I’m not too sure. He was very interested in Juolevi prior to his drafting, lots of buzz around Virtanen as well.  And he flew out Petterson and Glass for in person interviews in Vancouver prior to that draft.  Boeser and Hughes were definitely less hinted at for sure, but Dhaliwal has his sources and they’ve been right before.  Personally, i’d trust in the scouts if Broberg was our guy, but I feel like there are too many solid forwards to pass up

The guys I'd be looking at for 9th, 10th would be (a) Karlsson Jr., (b) Tkachuk-lite, (c) decision-meh Dahlin, or (d) Bold decision.

These are my nicknames for Soderstrom, Zegras, Broberg, and Boldy. Can't go wrong with any of these guys, I love them all.

HOWEVER... ideally, the Canucks win a top 3 spot and get their guy in Hughes, Kakko, or Byram. Ideally.

    Will it happen?

I’m curious about the Tkachuk comparison to Zegras.  From what i’ve heard and read he is more of a skilled playmaker than a power forward type, granted I’ve never seen him play

  6. I honestly don’t remember many people in favour of Carlo, in fact quite the opposite.  Myself included. Many thought he lacked IQ and was just a benefactor of having gargantuan size and playing against kids in the WHL.  One of the guys I can say I had a terrible feeling about and proved me dead wrong. Can’t remember who the consensus was but I remember quite a few people giving Boeser’s praise.  I thought he showed some promise and would be a potential steal but didn’t think he would get taken in the first.  Glad we took the risk!

EDIT:  upon looking back I definitely remember a lot of uproar when we passed on Konecny, I’d say he’d be the consensus. Lots of hope that Barzal would fall to us too

Seems to be the fringe guy on the team. Lowest time on ice out of all US players with 10:09 total.

Seems that way. But could also be them giving him a lesser role to rest up his injury against a weaker opponent/less meaningful game. Saving him for a tougher team knowing the reckless style he plays with. Could also just be bottom of the chain though haha

if you have a swedish vpn you can watch it on here in better quality.  Still in Swedish, but seemingly a legal stream. And now I don't speak Swedish but the commentators have hardly shut up about pettersen. Pregame they were talking about him and showing highlight videos, intermission was all about him too with a feature and interview. Have heard his name more than any other that's for sure. They seem very high on him
