If we can get Dysin Mayo in the 3rd, I would be stoked. This guy seems pretty underrated.

Did. He lit up sad teams on the power play and vanished against USA/Canada. So there's nothing much there to judge him on. Yet it's being drummed up enough.
Eichel's performance (McDavid not there) was far more interesting. And i felt Virtanen played very well despite his shoulder injury. That injury cannot affect his draft stock.
Just for the sake of arguing on the internet...
Sweden vs. Russia= 4-3 Sweden
Canada vs. Russia= 3-2 Russia
Sweden vs. Slovakia= 6-2 Sweden
Canada vs. Slovakia= 2-1 Canada
Sweden vs. Germany= 9-3 Sweden
Canada vs. Germany= 5-2 Canada
In these games Nylander got points on 11 goals. Canada as a team only scored 10 against the same teams.
Sweden vs. Finland= 10-0 Sweden
Exploiting a much weaker team? For comparison, USA only beat Finland 4-3. Finland beat Switzerland 2-1. Switzerland beat USA 4-2.
As for Sweden vs. USA, Nylander got a point on the only goal Sweden scored. He looked dangerous whenever he had the puck. Even though it was a somewhat sloppy effort by his team (himself included), the fact that 3 minutes of his highlights were salvaged from a game where Sweden only scored one goal is only further proof to his skill level. Against Canada he could've had multiple points if it weren't for Mason MacDonald. The dude was stellar and was the main reason Canada won bronze. He had a 1.94 GAA and a 92.98 SV% in what was a pretty high scoring tournament.
Anyways.... my point is; he did rack up points against the weaker teams, but it's not like the competition level is THAT unbalanced. It's top division for a reason. If Nylander was only getting points because the teams he was playing were so weak, then why didn't other top players have as inane stats as him? Nylander got 16 points in 7 games. That's over 2 points a game. He got 6 more points in this tournament than the next in line (excluding Axel Holmstrom, who had 11 points, and conveniently played on the Nylander's line). A 6 point difference. That's as many points as Canada's leading scorer, Jake Virtanen, got the entire tournament. Sure, let's give him a pass because of his injury. 6 more points than Jack Eichel, who is projected to go head to head with McDavid for the 1st overall next year. Eichel had a marvelous tournament, don't get me wrong, but looking at USA's roster, should he not have gotten more?

Watch these highlights. There's a lot of stuff vs. USA. Just because he only got one point doesn't mean he was ineffective. I watched the U18s and came away with the impression that Nylander was the best one there. His defensive play is hardly as bad you guys make it out to be.

Is there any prospect that has the passing/vision that could come close to a Sedin?....I think we'll need a really high quality playmaker after the Sedins are done.
Sam Reinhart, William Nylander and Leon Draisaitl are all excellent playmakers, but Reinhart will definitely be gone by the 6th pick. With the recent rumors of Toronto's offer for the 1st overall, it seems unlikely we could match that to trade up for him. At least one of Draisaitl or Nylander will be available when we pick. Draisaitl's game is aesthetically the closest to a Sedin. He's not a fast skater by any means, but slows the game down to his level and sees the ice incredibly well. Nylander, on the other hand, has explosive speed and slick moves. He also has great vision, but some times tries one too many moves and creates turnovers. You could probably throw Nikolaj Ehlers in the mix too. Can't really go wrong with any of em

Also I hope this means Bennett drops to us

Any thoughts on Hunter Smith being available in the third round? I like Sanheim for the second and maybe Mantha in the fifth.
If he's there in the third I'd take him, but I wouldn't touch him with our second. Especially if someone falls out of the first to us, or someone like Sanheim, Polluck, or Demko are available.

I don't know... It seemed like everyone loved Coho when he was here...

Gaunce's hockey IQ, positioning will make him a good 3rd or 4th liner in the NHL at least. If he can work on his speed I think he has the shot and the smarts to be an effective 2nd liner.

Really hoping Dal Colle or Draisaitl drop to us. If not, we should take a chance on one of the higher skilled players. Ehlers, Nylander or Kapanen preferably. I wouldn't be opposed to Ritchie or Virtanen either. They are projects but could be lethal if they progress nicely. The one guy I don't want is Perlini. He seems to not use his size fully and plays a perimeter game. That's not to say he won't be able to use it at the NHL level, it's just not what the Canucks need more of.

I, for one, am excited to see what our younger guys can do in more prominent roles here

Coincidence Linden is getting hired as the new president right before Pat Quinn night? I think not

We need to go for a D-man in this draft.
DeAngelo or Fleury.
We definitely don't want our future to look like Edmonton's with skill at the front and nothing in the back.
2013/2014
Yakupov 24 Pts -33
Murray 21 Pts +4
What skill up front? Our only prospect with legit first line potential is Shinkaruk. Jensen possibly, but second liner seems more likely

Ahhh I remember the days when Schroeder was touted as the next Parise

Out of the players who will likely be available around our pick, Ehlers has the potential to be the biggest gamebreaker out of them all. He's got electric speed and filthy hands. Virtanen has got the size and skill, however he seems very one dimensional in the way he plays the game. Not too high on Nylander either, but I think Kapanen has the potential to be a pretty good playmaker. I'd be fine with Ritchie too, but you always take a risk when picking pure powerforwards. It seems like it's more rare for them to reach their potential. That being said if Ritchie does pan out, he'll be a force to reckoned with.

I'm hoping we can get Ehlers, but I feel like Gillis will go to the OHL again. Perlini or McCann probably, unless someone like Dal Colle or Draisaitl falls

we've been looking for a big, talented right winger for years.
mike gillis. what the hell.
I would say they could have 1 rst burrows, and shroeder for him but try an get for second pick if possible
go away

If Gillis is going through with this, he should do everything humanly possible to get Ryan Johansen. He's having a great breakout season. He has size and uses it well. Great vision & passing, and he can shoot the puck. Top that off with the fact that he's a local BC boy, hohohoho

Sedins the only untouchables? As much as I hate to say it, our best bet would be to trade them while they still have value. Two of the greatest players in franchise history, but their time has come.
I'd also say Gillis should hold on to Kassian, Tanev and Stanton. Kassian is finally emerging in to the player we all hoped he would be, it would be a mistake to trade him now.

Since Breaking Bad has concluded, Game of Thrones is the best show on TV at the moment. Honestly, it's probably one of the best ever. Looking at the Walking Dead on AMC compared to its comic predecessors, it is definitely toned down. The comics are a lot more dark and unforgiving. I think HBO is the only option to make a Dark Tower series that is true to the source. It may prove difficult, but if anyone can pull it off, it is HBO.

Some as in Craig Button? That dude's lists are wank, i'd take it with a grain of salt. Most lists had him going top 10.
