I dont know if the Canucks fans watching on the tube got to see it, since the action was in the Kings zone, but the 18,000 folks at the Staples got a surprised good look at it. I've been watching hockey since 1967, and pretty much playing it in one way or another almost as long, and I've never seen anything like this....ever. As the play continues into the Kings end, Luongo kicks the net off one post, so it hinges on the remaining post. As action continues in the Kings end, he gets back into ready position, then takes a look back at the net, which is only a few inches off kilter. He then backs up into the post, and with a backward motion, kicks it off some more....then when it doesnt slide off enough, he kicks it again. And again. And again. The Kings then strip the puck from one of the Canucks and go up ice on a 3 on 1 break, they pass to a guy in the middle and as he's about to shoot, they blow the whistle. The Kings fans are puzzled , but cheering, DELAY OF GAME, right??? The Kings have little smiles, puzzled, but you know, its an obvious DELAY OF GAME, right?? The refs and linesmen confer for a few minutes, then head for a face-off. NO DELAY OF GAME on Luongo!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I've noticed that in recent years, the NHL has stopped protecting the Original Six teams in the playoffs....they SHOULD stop protecting the Canadian teams as well. Let them sink or swim as their talent directs, but dont mollycoddle them. They only thing freakier than the Sedin ginger twins are all the penalties NOT being called on Vancouver. Is that how you folks win games....with a little help from the boyos at the home office in Toronto??? Well...I got to go....my Nucks are itching.....
