The captaincy here reminds me of the king's situation a few years ago when they gave Dustin Brown the C until Kopitar was ready to take the reigns (also brown regressed a bit).

I think Pettersson will and should be the captain eventually but right now Horvat is our guy.

I've seen some people who said similar things...Like to name Horvat first as he fits to be Captain right now, and they believe Pettersson can/will/should be Captain next/in future...I don't really know what people mean by that though, because Pettersson is only younger than Horvat by a few(3) years...So are they saying that we can wait until Pettersson becomes more experienced in the NHL/in English first, and then later strip Horvat of the 'C'? Dustin Brown even said that the process of stripping him of the 'C' made him feel like he was put in an "awkward spot". So I was just thinking that Petey and Bo would feel really awkward about the situation too...

Why is everyone so concerned to have a player with a C on his jersey, we are a young team and we don’t need to add any pressure or make and forced decisions yet, I’m fine having 3 CO captains until we see our young team unfold,

There's a bit of speculation that we will name a Captain next year as it fits into our 50th anniversary celebration time period though, since Henrik was named Captain during our 40th anniversary celebration time. Just saying---I don't mind waiting longer to name a 'C' either, but there's a possibility that the Organization is just waiting until next season comes to name one.

Why stop there?  Add on fans of other teams, people that don't watch hockey, maybe run a survey in China.  There must be a few more out there.

Seriously though, StarGirl, the only similarity between Raymond and Virtanen is that they are fast skaters.  That's it.

How can we add people who don't even know them? I was only talking about people who don't use the internet or go to this forum and choose not to say it who still at least knew them. :picard:  I just explained the only reason why he reminds me of him and being "reminded" of someone else isn't something I chose on purpose or anything. It's not even an opinion either. Never have I once said that Virtanen and Raymond are 100% the same type of Hockey player.

Good god that is a poor comparison. Virtanen hits hard and raymond fell down if the air conditioning in the arena came on.  Haha nice try.

Did I ever say Raymond falling down reminds me of Virtanen? I literally explained my reason and people still compare other things. :frantic:

Yes!  You, Zhukini and Someone makes 3.

Well, I mean...If you don't include the people who may not use the internet, does not go on this forum, and they may not choose to say it. Then maybe. :emot-parrot:

I think he plays a lot like Raymond too, at least earlier on. Speed wide, do a couple laps, throw a puck on net.

    Rinse, repeat.

David Booth is someone else that came to mind

Yeah, I remember someone in 2015 said Virtanen reminded him of Mason Raymond first, while I didn't see it at that time. But now I did. So we're not the only ones.

I don't like the MR comparison.  Jake brings so much more to the table.  MR was a timid perimeter player.  Jake is becoming a sound two way player who could be a 20+ goal scorer who isn't afraid to muck it up and stick up for his team mates.  He isn't going anywhere. :P

I thought comparing was like saying who was better than who, which I never did...? I only said he reminded me of him, and then I explained my only reasoning after. Yet...Then people started disagreeing with me by starting to compare their other attributes that did not match. LOL It's not like I said he was a total copy of him. :P

Raymond needed a better skate sharpener. Seemed like he fell down quite a bit.

I remember watching him in the Canucks Superskills Fastest Skater Competition and I was scared he'd fall down.

Guess you forgot the season he scored 25 goals.  Nuck fans would go nuts if Virt had a 25 goal season.  I don't notice Virt falling down a lot though and I never saw Raymond lay out the kind of hits that Jake does.

Well besides the skating, I don't think they have much in common after all.

Well, I wasn't the first person to think they were similar. Virtanen during WJC time, somebody said he was a puck-hogger like Raymond. That being said, I never thought of Raymond as a puck-hogger. And I never mentioned that they were exactly similar either.

  10. Virtanen reminds me of Mason Raymond, I always see them being able to skate around with the puck for a lot of seconds, but can't seem to have the finishing touch to putting it in the back of the net.

*EDIT*: I don't get to choose the fact that someone has REMINDED me of someone, so stop with the disagreement and comparisons if you don't see it. I see it, and it's not something you can start talking to me about to try to change my mind or anything because it's not even an opinion. I was reminded of another person by someone, so it's an experience that I've already went through. You can't go back and change something I've already experienced. :P

*EDIT*: Double-edit just because I realized that people still don't read very well. I literally explained the ONLY reason why JV reminds me of MR in this comment, and people started disagreeing with me(there was no point in disagreeing with me anyways, because it wasn't even an opinion...) by adding their own comparisons of the players' other attributes that I've NEVER mentioned before. I have never said they were 100% the exact type of Hockey player, so I don't understand why people were acting as if I said they were similar in every single way? :picard: Also...If you don't feel the same way/see it, then that's fine by me...But the fact that a lot of people were making so much drama out of it by praising JV while putting MR down and accusing me of comparing those two(While they are the ones who started to actually compare them...Hypocrites?)...I was just saying that the sudden thought of another player just popped up because of ONE reason...And that's it. That was all. I'm seriously tired of replying back to people who didn't read my comment clear enough...I never thought that a lot of people here couldn't read well here and liked accusing me of saying things that I never did...So I'll be turning notifications off as I don't even want to know and read another comment by a person who didn't read well enough again. Therefore, if I didn't reply back to you...Know that it's just because I didn't know about it. ^_^

  11. My personal hope is most likely impossible to achieve and may not be agreed upon others, but I would like to share it anyways...

I just really hope that we can find somewhat a "perfect"(I know perfect is impossible, but I mean like one that's nice enough that most of us can agree on) logo/jersey for our team, so we'd all be able to make a sea of -insert colour- in Rogers Arena.

I don't really care for the Flames, but whenever I see their sea of red in the Saddledome...

I can't help but feel a bit jealous because it shows that their fanbase is there for them/all the people in their arena is cheering for them.

I personally really like the Vancouver Millionaires jerseys, and it's not like I dislike any of the past Canucks jerseys at all either.

However, our arena looks like there's a bunch of random colours in the seats and I don't think it looks very nice or shows the support clear enough...

Maybe it's just me who feels this way, but I just wanted to put it out there anyways.

Yea , not to mention the early whistle on his would be goal.. You could see on his face how bad he wanted/needed that. Feel for the guy, but it took a tired piss poor buffalo team for him to be noticeable out there. Same could be said for most of our team though.. :(

Yeah, exactly! Could totally see that he really wanted that goal and it could've been his if only the refs didn't ruin it...

    Feel bad for him. :(

Hope he gets a goal soon!

  13. took a knee on knee the other day, never heard of any player who takes a knee on knee to come back quickly. he might be done for the season. What a waste of season. I hope i'm wrong, he's 18 years old already gone through a major shoulder surgery now a knee injury.

I hope you are wrong! :| Having to suffer another injury after his shoulder surgery is definitely concerning.

  14. I'm sorry to plug my own videos but I thought that, with the tournament now finished, now would be a good time to include all of the videos I was able to make in a single post. It's not every game, but it should give you a decent look at how he did in the tournament on the whole.

Thanks for all of the kind words directed my way during the tournament. It was a lot of fun to make these videos for y'all and I'm glad it was of use. (I'm a little worried about copy-right related issues that'll force me to remove them but I'll deal with it when it becomes pertinent.)

    Cheers, guys!

Thanks for doing all of this! Appreciate it.

  15. He needs to work on his positioning and awareness but has shown he has the raw tools to be a great player!

Think he played pretty well, whole tournament.

So much young talent on that team!

Gold medal a great way to start off here. Congrats, Jake Virtanen!

Great team player willing to play any role required of him. Definitely looking forward to seeing him as a Canuck.

    YEAH!
