  1. Buddy, we won't be Calgary unless we continue down this same path for at least 2 more seasons.

Teams have off years, almost every player is under producing this year, it's just unsustainable for the team to continue performing this poorly.

Look at Montreal a few years ago, they had a terrible year and were near the bottom of the league after being in the top 10 the year before, now they are right back near the top with the same core group of players.

As with most things, it's never as good or as bad as it seems at the time.

We've have pretty bad years. Especially those first round playoff exits without scoring goals. Getting swept by the Sharks.

If having a good regular season satisfies you, then this team is a long ways from a Stanley Cup.

Regular season means nothing. When the games matter, we don't show up. When the game tightens up, we can't score.

This team has been bad for several years now. Our prospects blow, ranked one of the worst in the league (despite what CDC thinks, since they only know about Canuck prospects).

We also fed on the worst division

  2. This kind of speaks volumes to me. Unless it's "after the fact", at which point I'd still expect MG to be more engaged.

    Really, just from one photo?

Maybe he was thinking and was walking around

It's amazing how everything is over analyzed in here.

  3. I don't know how we went from 2x Presidents Trophy winners, and Stanley Cup finalists to this in a span of just a few years. Those years seem like an eternity ago.

MG has single handedly crippled this team.

It's going to be a long, dark journey folks. The glory days are over and I honestly can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. No Cup in Van for a good long while.

    You don't?

It's pretty obvious. I was saying this team sucked even when we won president's trophy 2nd time again because you can tell by how they play. Regular season means nothing if we play the wrong way.

We have added barely any good players over the years while other teams have gotten better. Not only did we get worse, other teams have gotten A LOT more improvements.

Sedins are not even that good, and I have no idea why people struggle to see this. They need their pretty plays to land them a goal and when teams collapse they get confused on what to do and force pass through the crease which results in a turnover.

YOU NEED PLAYERS THAT WILL DRIVE THE NET AND GET DIRTY GOALS AND BRING IT TO THE NET HARD.

  4. I said this team sucked for a long time and I kept getting negative replies about the comment.

Now I look like a genius.

Not only is our team horrible but our prospect pool is just awful. One of the worst in the league (but Canuck fans will still find it hard to believe).

It's going to be a lengthy rebuild. No cup for another 10 years +

  5. So if Canada squeaks out a 2-1 win would that be enough justification for Babcock to go with Lu under the premise that TC plays better with Lu in net? It's clear now that they do, and its obvious they respect him more.

No it wouldn't. The heck? A goalie is changed depending on the goals he lets in. There's more to that then stats.

Also, if we need to win 2-1 against Latvia, then the goalie is not even the concern. It's the offense.

  6. Hahahaha, that's hilarious! "Constantly" like he's injured every year...first time he's had a decent injury and yet it's note a big deal.

...you'll be uptight about this when Price can't lead the team and falters whereas Lu doesn't care cause he's already win gold, replacing the greatest goalie ever in the process while doing so. Your point is invalid LOL

Learn some English Russian lover. Heard they got eliminated today.

  7. Torts understands this game and how to win. Unfortunately our players are not suited for his type of play because we have a bunch of perimeter players who fail to crash the net hard when given the opportunity. This is why we can't score in the playoffs.

Torts isn't the problem. The team just blows and is hella fragile with no confidence whenever things go wrong.

  8. canucks would have to add to edler to get o'reilly.

why on earth would florida want booth and his terrible contract back? they got rid of him for a reason. not to mention it would take a lot more than that package to get campbell even at full price, let alone with florida retaining half.

hugely overrating kane, just like everyone on this site overrates every name player that allegedly becomes available. i wouldn't trade tanev straight up for kane, since tanev will prevent far more goals every year than kane will score, without the stupid high cost and attitude issues.

    don't quit your day job.

You wouldn't trade Tanev for one of the league's top game breakers straight up. Nice

  9. Been saying the Canucks have sucked since losing the cup. I guess people have finally realized. Window to win closed years ago. This roster cannot even compete with the top teams in terms of depth. Anyone who thinks so must be blind.

    Our prospects blow as well.

We probably won't win a cup for a long long time.

  10. It's hilarious how everyone in this thread throws the kid under the bus just because he didn't sign with us. Just reading the first page, apparently Schultz is now a diva and a future bust for having the audacity to not sign with the Canucks. I really hate this place sometimes. So many babies.

Yep. That's CDC for you. Little kids who didn't get what they want so they start crying.

  11. The mature responses indicate that he's likely made the right choice for himself.

I don't get it - why play for a team that supports you when you win and boos you when you lose?

Two years removed from those playoffs and people want Luongo shipped out.

Besides, Schultz has a much better chance at making a bigger impact one day. Here in Vancouver, it could be a career ender.

    Best post in thread.

Others probably have low IQ or don't watch much hockey.

"Guess Schultz doesn't want to win a cup". Canucks have yet to win a cup in 40 + years.

Edmonton doesn't have a strong core? They have the best young core of players in the league. A place where Schultz can grow with.
