    Richard Cloutier @rdcloutier:

Breaking News: I have been told the #Canucks have a deal in place with the #Panthers for the first overall pick.

    Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger

Teams arriving on the Draft floor and heavy speculation on the Canucks shifting focus in quest to acquire 1st pick overall.

    NOTE:

Richard Cloutier seems to be a legit reporter out of EDM followed by TSN 1200, Josh Rimer, Cam Tucker, DobberHockey, Jonathan Willis, David Staples, and 630CHED. Take it for what it's worth, hence why this is labeled as a "Rumor".

  2. Hmm

Booth was improving finally. Why now?

Prepare for tank mode. The Canucks aren't in a position to attract free agents. So the cap space means little.

Maybe JB has started the process of chopping heads and going full rebuild.

Hank and Dank don't want to be traded right now, as they feel they can win, but a couple more moves to gut this team and they might change their tune.

It's a double edged sword right now. They either have to give up a lot of prospects and picks to get EK and try to compete, or go all in on a rebuild.

I'm betting JB has decided a retool is too far too reach.

because this is the last compliance buyout window

  3. "Can I name a player who played with heart?"

    Sure can. Kesler + Bieksa.

not sure I would put Kesler in the same level as Bieksa anymore. As soon as Ish hits the fan the guy wants out. Bieksa on the other hand... he's going down with the ship as he put it.

  4. Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks President of Hockey Operations Trevor Linden announced today that Head Coach John Tortorella and Assistant Coach Mike Sullivan have been relieved of their coaching duties. “Today we are making an important change in the direction of our team,” said Linden. “On behalf of the entire organization, we extend our thanks to John, Mike and their families for their commitment to the Canucks and wish them the very best.” “We have a lot of important work to accomplish this off-season as we build our management and coaching staff, improve our roster and connect with our fans,” added Linden. “Our General Manager search is well underway and we will begin assessing head coaching candidates immediately.”
