I don't get why we want Miller? are we trying to compete or are we trying to give our young players a chance to play (er, get a good draft pick for rebuild)

Because this team isn't tanking. They're going to try and go for the playoffs. They may be retooling, but there's no reason that an Olympic goaltender on a good contract wouldn't benefit playoff chances and be a great mentor for Lack.

Also, to people wanting Hiller... He did WORSE than Miller while on the best team in the West and got chased by a 20 year old goalie

The TSN panel however, is creaming themselves with the prospect of having Torts back. Could you imagine that guy slamming us on a nightly basis? (Don't tell me he's a professional, because if anything this season has proved he's not).
He's not a "professional" in the terms where he won't sit back and let other people go after his team or slander him without responding. Of course, having a backbone in today's sensitive NHL gets you fined, suspended, and eventually fired.
I trust Linden's decision, but there's no reason Torts shouldn't have been given at least half a season more with the Canucks.

Yes and it's his fault. GMMG said he wanted to get younger. What does Torts do?
- Doesn't even give Shinkaruk and Horvat 9 games. Not saying keep them for sure, but at least give them a shot.
- Plays the "old players" 20-28 minutes per game, right from the get go.
- Plays Kassian < 12 minutes per game until the season was virtually over.
- Doesn't give Jensen a shot until the season is virtually over (even though he didn't deserve it really).
- Sent Corrado down for basically the whole season.
D'uh!
GMMG was the one who pulled the strings for that. You're fooling yourself if you think otherwise. Continue the hate circlejerk, though - it totally hasn't gotten old despite the continued false information.

Again: The last two times in the last decade they missed the playoffs, they bounced back the next season and won the division. This was when Calgary and Edmonton weren't pushovers, and were just as good as the California teams are today.
The amount of hyperbole in this fanbase makes me sick.

Missed the playoffs three times including this year in ten seasons, and suddenly the team is destroyed and the franchise will never be repaired.
It really, really goes to show how many of you have only watched this team through the highs of the past few years.

Must win game and you start Markstrom? Uhm, no.
Because Lack's played so well since Luongo was traded, right? Besides, I'd rather the team miss the playoffs and have a chance in the lottery than get swept in the first round and have nothing to show for it outside of excuses like "well, we made the playoffs, it's a process" from the management.

NOTHING but the term core I said applies to the Sedins. I said the core refuses to work with anyone, which is the opposite of the Sedins. I assumed that would have been clear enough reading my post, but clearly not.
I'm talking Kesler, Elder, Booth, Burrows, etc.

I mean, Torts has a Stanley Cup. He knows what it takes to go all the way and win when it counts. This core couldn't give less than two craps about winning as long as they take their paycheques home. The only one who seems to care at all is Kesler and he wants out plus he has a history of clashing with people.

Torts isn't the problem. The locker room full of selfish man children who refuse to work with anyone else is. This core is cancerous and I feel sorry for whoever trades for these prima donnas.
Change it up and rebuild. Start around Horvat, Shinkaruk, Jensen, Corrado, Tanev, Lack and Markström and go from there.
