  1. In my own self loathing way aGENT, it's fandumb i suffer from
  2. Almost at 500 pages I thought the penalty was too much, especially considering what other rulings have, or never even been made (there should be a infraction posting, where we can post to see every non call or calls and rulings on calls as a library to see how absurd things can be) It would be interesting if they made all these hearings heard It is like they spin a wheel,or who is involved, or what team, till a Canuck comes up, then they say we need to set a precedent for this in a heavy ruling (and never hold to it against others) I am now getting dismayed by inconsistent rulings, and the way games can be called, they seem as contrived as wrestling, and i have no interest in that sport either
  3. I am betting that he will not want a 2 way and would try to take less money that what he is offered to avoid a 2 way, because he knows that is where he would spend time, with the new guys in the system coming up, and if they shine. he won't have that decision to play up here He doesn't need Bert, Travis was a star out of junior and had to decide if he wanted to play in the NHL or not, because he wasn't going to be a star in the NHL and he re-invented himself and worked hard. Jake needs to decide how long he wants to play in the big leagues and act accordingly, if he chooses to stay
  4. I am not so sure Green believes in him so much, as he doesn't show it in playing him like he believes in him Benning? He drafted him, would he draft him again if he could? Pretty generous saying that based on 6 goals (and one i know of into a empty net) Now Boeser, and that kid McDavid who just scored 4 tonight, They can score goals Lets hope he can score a lot more than he has, and if he doesn't get there, getting teams shorthanded by hitting them and having them retaliate and keeping their scorers off the ice while being shorthanded, can be effective too
  5. That's fine KKnight My 1st response was to your opinion on anothers opinion Who says you need an opinion to be based on fact, not me
  6. You are right, he didn't have top notch speed He didn't have blinding speed, or flashy moves, In junior though, he was considered an extremely smart player, considered an excellent skater, very strong on the puck, good hands, and excellent on-ice vision After being traded from Vancouver to Buffalo he ended up 1st in rookie scoring, 5th in rookie points, despite getting lesser ice time of all rookies He then signed a $25+ million contract and immediately could not score anymore Since he could score with his skating before I don't think that is was his skating that was the issue Hank has never been considered a fast skater EITHER, and he will be going into the HOF He did have a misdiagnosed bulging disc that he was being treated for which was aggravating the injury he really had while a Canuck I am not a CoHo fan,
  7. I never said YOU called him Captain material, He was a hot prospect with the same qualities you say of Pettersson now You said "Cody Hodgson failed to pan out, because of Cody Hodgson. His attitude and lack of commitment was apparent. I get no inclination that Pettersson is the same, this is kid is mature beyond his years. Love his cool amd calm demeanor, but you can tell hes a winner. " Your 1st comments you ascertained in hindsight, after he was a Canuck How you describe EP is exactly what they said about Cody when drafted and why not? He showed remarkable poise and leadership for his junior team and Team Canada 3 x named CHL smartest player of the year OHL Allstar Led all scorers in WJC Touted for his poise maturity and composure, his will to win, his hockey sense and dominate as a junior, We all know how bad it turned out and i was tired of the drama i heard at the time He was upset seeing that he would never amount to more than a 3rd line centre behind Sedin and Kesler (which he never could be, because they were young and fronted the Greatest Canuck team of all time !) He had what was proven later as a misdiagnosed back injury after AV had called him out on his compete level You cannot rewrite history to make a case for our current stud while slamming another one at the same stage of their developments Cody didn't pan out the way we hoped You cannot deny what he was at Petterssons age though
  8. Apparent? Isn't that the same Cody that was being hyped as a future Captain of the Canucks ?
  9. I was going to say he could be head and shoulders our best prospect, then i saw your pictures and thought that i should add neck too
  10. I agree Unless if he is like Brock and clearly shines at training camp Most likely they will have the spot filled, anticipating that he will not be ready though
  11. aGENT I agree with you and think that the Sedins will be back for another year I doubt they want a bunch of 1st time NHL players on the same team at once though So I think you need to include 33 and 22 in your line up I highly doubt Kane or Hansen will be on the team I don't see Granlund back up in the top 6 (I think they like him and Sutter on the 3rd) I think it is much to early to accurately speculate how our team will look like, until we get to camp (It is like putting a jigsaw puzzle together with only 1/2 the pieces) We will have to wait to see where all our prospects are at, and see if we made any trades or free agent pick up finds, like we always grab I think the only sure thing is Your 1st line, One with Sedins (most likely), Sutter Granlund
  12. Lol Yes. We've seen a lot of high picks over the last several years enter the league all guns a blazing, and seemingly level out after their rookie years. Up until this season, MacKinnon's most productive year was his rookie season. Nugent Hopkins still hasn't beaten his rookie campaign. Sam Reinhart is another example. There are quite a few examples of players that top out after their rookie campaigns, so to say there isn't some precedent wouldn't be an honest statement. But, getting to the point, the debate was between Laine and Boeser, and how Laine entering the league at a younger age than Boeser somehow made Laine a much better player. Now, considering that next year Laine will be entering his draft +3 season, which is equivalent to where Boeser is now, is it reasonable to assume that Laine is going to have a far more productive season then Boeser is currently having? I say no, and I don't quite understand why it's so hard for some people to accept the fact that we have a player in Boeser that is more-or-less on par with Laine. Anyways, back to Pettersson. He's pretty good too. Somehow both your quotes ended up together on top of each other? Players Levelling out with Your small sample size? What is the point based on 1 year? Do you have a crystal ball of their future? Maybe you can find arguments for other players that fizzled out , but these players are still very young Not sure what you are getting at making this statement? especially with these players you mention? Mackinnon is 22, in his 1st year was .770 He is now at 1.25 (see how your point falls short without a crystal ball that works)? Laine is ONLY 19 ! in his 1st and ONLY year scored at .877, The year isn't over and he is at .78 He is still a Teenager with over a decade of playing to come RNH is 24 1st yr scored at .600, he surpassed it every yr except last yr and is surpassing it at the moment, while McDavid is now the top line centre Sam Reinhart is 22 1st year scored at .111 and surpassed it each year since with .53,.59 and .40 this year and no longer the top dog with Eichel as the top centre Crosby is 30 and last 4 yrs hasn't reached the same % but has 2 Conn Smythe Trophies and 2 Stanley Cups and Olympic Golds I just don't see the point in making statements like this? If Boeser doesn't reach the same level next year, what will you be saying then, that Boeser will never reach that height again? I am not getting into a debate of Boeser over Laine - Both are very good players I like Boeser and glad he is on our team The league has lots of great players Something we can both agree on, (and i will end my discussion of this while on the Pettersson board) Back to Pettersson, he's pretty good too
  13. Yes I can see how having to clear waivers, would deter a team from showing patience How can you show patience and wait till he is 25 (as his defenders want to give him ?) If he is on your roster and not doing as is asked - You now have a player controlling the team for fear of waiving him for nothing in return (Imagine the heat on Benning of asset mismanagement if we lost a 6th overall for nothing) In hindsight, maybe it was not a good idea giving him the 10 games and full year in NHL instead of juniors after all? Also, how much can you get in a trade for him now, when other teams will be having the same concerns with his waiver status? Tough decisions right now to be made with him I don't see how they will come out good in this (unless he pays more attention to Bo And Boesers commitments to excel) They will never get a 6th pick for him (so will be slammed for whatever they get in return) They keep him and he takes up a roster spot and they aren't happy with his play and feel they want to promote someone who is, then they risk losing him for nothing? Maybe keep him on the roster and hope for the best (especially, if the trade return is insignificant) is the only option now?
  14. lol When i read this It sounded like Jake was/is a bully while growing up playing hockey Didn't mind being the bully, when he was the biggest and got drafted for that style But, now as you say When at the top league, everyone else is faster, bigger, conditioned, and bully tactics won't work and step up to the once bully, and like in school, when the bully is confronted ... Lol, that my take on your story
  15. Lol Really? The kid is ONLY 19 Most 18 AND 19 yr olds in Jr or lesser leagues If You had said this about ANY Canuck player at 19, Boy, would you have had serious backlash
  16. It is too bad moderators cannot remove posts that are irrelevant to the posted subject It might help people posting in the proper subject heading then Although i did enjoy some comments and upvote some, I had no idea the E.P. thread would derail I have seen this on numerous threads though Has it ever been considered to help keep postings focused to the subject?
  17. Never heard anyone complain of his skating If that is all the Canucks wanted from him , we could hire Olympian speed skaters, without drafting them as an added bonus (Hopefully some who played some rec hockey as kids) and have less or no expectations for them as well
  18. I think Jake will have a game where he scores 3 goals and a assist (in One game) and it will ignite another 50 pages about he has figured it out, or, trade him before he disappears
  19. I would include on the ice too, if in fact he is ignoring what he is told to be doing, because I highly doubt that he has been told to do what he has been doing (or not doing)
  20. I don't think the mold is the problem Alf It is the professionalism Bo overcame his weakness, because he wants to be better He saw his weakness, listened to the coaches and put in hard work That is a professional who wants to improve, not waiting
  21. I don't give free rein to non stars to do what they like This is a structured high end league not a beer league If you can't play a structured game, then why should anyone?
  22. Damn Someone should have told Travis, Willie, Trevor and Jim this info How could they have overlooked this being players themselves?
