Premier Christy Clark apologizes

BC would be in a much better spot if it was a Farnworth-Falcon campaign, that is my opinion. Neither of the two main candidates is qualified to be Premier, unless you are taking the view that being up to your neck in scandal is a necessary qualification for that position (and lord knows it might as well be). It's embarrassing and it makes the whole province look stupid and corrupt (and again, lord knows it might very well be).

A good solid, well respected British Columbian should take the reins of the green party, make them very centrist with a sustainability lens to most things (not just environmental, but economic sustainability too). They should get a couple of smart people behind them and beat the two main candidates over the head with a Sockeye in the debates.

How about we just get rid of the government.......

The governments resposiblities to the people have failed.

I'm a tax paying citizen and the fact that I can walk down the street and see people living on the streets, while Christy Clark and other government officials spend OUR tax dollars on their own personal benefits is proof the government doesnt care about the people.

The part that amazes me is that the government is OUR employee. Yet it can't give us a straight answer, cant do the job to basic standards, take any responsibility, takes breaks whenever they like, cant be given any responsibilities near money, and when it hits the fan you can just quit so the blame lands on someone else.

It sounds like a worst employee ever yet we keep hiring the dumbass and can't figure out where the problem is.

I don't think he'd make a good premier. He's good with the environment, but I doubt he'd be interested in budgets, road building, and all the stuff that goes along with being in government.

I would love to see a technocratic senate and have Suzuki be the environmental senator though.

We need to improve the stock of politicians. I want someone who says the honest truth and doesn't pander to interest groups.

ROFL. Like they would get elected.

I seriously doubt the "We're doomed to higher taxes and shoddy services that would make the status quo look good for the next 20 years unless radical unpopular changes are implemented" party would be getting a lot of votes.

Add Brian Bonney to the list of BC Liberals taking a bullet for Christy Clark in the "ethnicgate" scandal.

The BC Liberal government either condones this method of conducting business or they are a coalition of inept politicians who hire equally inept people to run our province. I think it's both.

Brian Bonney is no stranger to this kind of underhanded sleaze...

Bonney was also ensnared in scandal last November after The Sun uncovered a drive by Liberal insiders to make over Burnaby Hospital in an effort to unseat an NDP MLA, prop up a potential B.C. Liberal candidate and win votes in other key ridings. He was named as one of the trio of party operatives who concocted the plan.

And remember that clown Harry Bloy? The ONLY person in government who supported Christy Clark? Turns out Bonney is a former business partner of Bloy. Surprise, surprise

Ethnicgate planner Brian Bonney quits as CEO of the Canadian Home Builders' Association of B.C.

Brian Bonney lasted less than a month in his new job.

The B.C. Liberal operative at the centre of the party's recent ethnicgate scandal has left a high-profile job.

Brian Bonney stepped down as chief executive officer of the Canadian Home Builders' Association of B.C.

According to a CHBA B.C. news release, Bonney "tendered his resignation in light of the Dyble Report, which he felt compromised his ability to work in the best interests of the residential construction industry".

Bonney took up the position on February 25.

Last month, a CHBA B.C. announcement of Bonney's appointment made no mention of his lengthy history as a B.C. Liberal party activist.

Bonney was a B.C. Liberal government communications staffer who spent up to half his work time on partisan activities for the party, according to a recently released report by John Dyble, the deputy minister to the premier.

After this was revealed, Premier Christy Clark announced that the B.C. Liberals would repay $70,000 to the B.C. government.

Below are two excerpts from the Dyble report that deal specifically with Bonney's conduct:

“It is clear from emails that in August 2012, and September 2012, Brian Bonney was directing the work of the four community liaison contractors and the two caucus outreach workers. This communication took place on personal email. When Brian Bonney was asked why he was directing these individuals using personal email, he indicated that it was because he knew the selection of the four community liaison contractors was confidential. When Minister Yap was asked why his former Communications Director was using personal email for this correspondence, he said that it was to avoid freedom of information.

“In one of the personal emails to the community liaison contractors, Brian Bonney instructed them not to tell the ministry program director that they know him. In another, he circulated an event form to the community liaison contractors and instructed them not to use the same form or information when they submit events to the ministry program director. When Brian Bonney was asked about this email he indicated that the form he provided was a 'party' form so he did not want the potential community liaison contractors using this form with the ministry.”[page 23]

Bonney is a former business partner of Harry Bloy, who was the only B.C. Liberal member of caucus to support Clark's leadership bid. Bonney also ran as the TEAM Burnaby candidate for mayor in 2002, losing to Derek Corrigan of the Burnaby Citizens' Association.
