Gambling/Casino Thread

Slots are computerized and programmed to pay out about 1/3 of what they take in, so unless you hit it big early and don't play again, you will always lose money on slots over time.

I went to the Casino in Colwood once, it is pretty small and mostly slots and a couple blackjack tables. I found the slots to be aweful, it was just playing a really expensive and boaring video game. Blackjack and poker are more my speed, but I always have more fun inviting some friends over for a poker/blackjack night than I do at the Casino. It's not something that interested me much, but I would like to go to a better Casino to see if I enjoyed that more.

What would the best one to try in the lower mainland be?

Incorrect, I worked in a Casino and know BCLC's policies with regards to slots... Your numbers are off. All slot machines HAVE to legally pay out (in BC) between .87 and .93 cents of every dollar they take in. That means, a slot machine only makes 7-13 cents for every dollar played. This has to be paid out over the lifespan of the slot machine.

You are correct in saying the more you play the more you will lose, this is true of all games in the casino as it is for all games where the odds are against you... Sure you can win here and there, but eventually, the you will lose more than you win. The casino banks on you staying after a win and losing it back.

There are a ton of fallacies with respect to slot machines, people claiming a machine is "hot" are wrong, just like people who believe that after they have played and lost at one machine for 5 hours that they cant leave because the machine is "due". The only time this is not true is with respect to progressives that must hit at a certain number, in which case yes, the jackpot is due to hit before a certain time, so a jackpot is technically guaranteed to someone.

All slot machines in BC are hooked up via computer to BCLC offices in Kamloops... There a random number generator is used for every spin on every machine in every casino. Meaning, every spin is completely random... There is no such thing as being "due" to hit on a machine. Its like flipping a coin 100x in a row and having it come up heads all 100x, tails isnt "due" to hit, it is still 50/50 on every flip and may never come up.

I liked slots a lot more back in the old days when you would hear the clanging of the coins hitting the tray all the time in the casinos. Someone was always winning somewhere. Now with just using cards it lost that feeling.

I hardly ever play slots but I go to Vegas with my brother and he likes the slots in spurts. I won a 3200 to one payout on a .25 cent slot while sitting around waiting for him once. It paid out ever coin in the machine and then the manager came around and paid the rest in cash. My brother was gutted cuzz to this day he still hasnt won that big on a slot despite having played maybe 100 times more money on them than me.

P.S. Use the Myvegas slots app on facebook for free to get free rooms and meals etc.I usually have enough points to get 3 nights on a long weekend free plus air miles for my flight on Alaska from Bellingham so it costs next to nothing to get to and stay in Las Vegas if you work it right.
