  1. Jesus Christ The tale of Jimbo in a nutshell within this 48 hour time frame.....
  2. Enough with the ass licking. There’s nothing wrong with the player. There’s something wrong with JB’s trading ability and not being able to give fair value. We literally got bent over and it can turn ugly if we don’t make the playoffs so we all best wish we do. And just cuz others teams would give a pick doesn’t mean we should have and made ourselves out to be the class clowns...I’m sure there’s a reason why Tampa chose our 1st over other teams. You’re smart enough to piece it together.
  3. Tell me about it. For the sake of the franchise, let’s just all hope we make the playoffs this season so we can thank the hockey gods we dodged a massive bullet
  4. This has been the problem with Benning for a long time. I’m not saying I dislike the player. Not sure many or any are as a matter of fact. It’s the value he gives up more often than not. He doesn’t have a grasp of that and just bends over like this. He’s a great talent evaluator no doubt. But this is what makes him a questionable “GM”. Classic JB move. So frustrating.
  5. No it isn’t, you’re delusional. JB isn’t signed after this year. He literally threw away the future to try to cement his job this season by overpaying for a decent 2nd line player. Some people like you are so far up management/JB’s ass that you will spin it any which way to give him the benefit but not hold his accountable for questionable moves. Which this is another and arguably the worst one to date.
  6. Yes I’m aware of that, we all are. If we don’t make the playoffs, then that pick in 2021 could be a lottery pick for all we know or worse than 15....what’s to say we will be better? There’s no guaranteeing anything. Can’t believe the condition wasn’t just changing it to a 2nd next year instead. How do we pay a premium to a team like Tampa who’s desperate for cap relief? &^@#ing hell.
  7. Jesus Christ Potential Sens pick scenario 2.0 ...unless we get a Panarin or something in FA, I don’t get what made management so confident of giving away our 1st which could very well be a lottery pick.
  8. Bo talk nonsense so need to sweat it lol. As for 1st next year, tbh I’m for it as long as we don’t pull a Ottawa and actually lottery protect the pick. ...Barrie along with the right FA signings would honestly make us a playoff team. If you can remember, we already were this past season up until December where injuries decimated and cost us. So fair to think one of the best offensive blue line producers would make us that much better, along with FA reinforcements + our young players only getting better.
  9. Yea it’s shocking. $82m to potentially $80m? That’s the difference for some teams having to shed 1 contract to 2 and for some teams wanting to acquire/sign 2 players to 1. Huge implications.
  10. Only thing that makes sense for the lack of movement on draft day. For people like me that attended, it was a literal “draft” and nothing else...now we know why. With the projection a few days ago being $81.5m or $82m, it could drop below that to $80m! That’d be a minuscule raise from the $79.5m salary cap this past season. At first I didn’t get when I heard cap reasons might have been the reason why the Barrie deal specifically wasn’t done considering both teams have so much cap. Maybe it meant the Avs were going to take on a contract from us? Either way, clearly every dollar matters more than ever with the premium teams have to pay their RFAs. So not knowing if a mill or 2 will benefit them or not is pretty huge in the grand scheme of things and something that should never occur again. To think heading into the draft there’s nothing set in stone for the cap is pretty ludicrous and rather inexcusable. I can honestly say it sort of ruined the draft experience for a lot of fans; all that buzz leading in for nothing. This sort of predicament in this day in age should never happen again.
  11. I can’t believe I attended that draft. Probably the most lacklustre draft ever in terms of movement. Leave it to Vancouver for that to happen in after the most hype and activity ever really heading into it. 1 measly trade was made to move up in the middle that’s it. Got relatively quiet after the Canucks selection. Pretty disappointing in that sense. I guess I can say I at least attended quite literally a “draft”
  12. https://thehockeywriters.com/vasili-podkolzin-2019-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/ “ Rankings THW (Mid-season Consensus Rankings): 3rd NHL Central Scouting: 2nd (Mid-term, European Skaters) ISS Hockey: 4th (March) Future Considerations: 3rd (Spring) McKeen’s Hockey: 3rd (Mid-Season) Bob McKenzie: 3rd (Mid-term) Sam Cosentino: 3rd (March)” ...people who are against Podkolzin are probably the same people who were against the EP selection. I love this pick because it’s against some of the “safe” picks we took such as Virtanen. When you’re drafting high, that shouldn’t be the thought process thinking, “well hey if he busts at least he’ll be a solid 3rd liner” etc. Swing for the fences especially with the position we’re in not having much hope. Go for the guy with the highest ceiling - not the safest floor - and this exactly that. In line with the EP pick & Hughes pick. Just remember...when the Hawks won the 3rd overall lottery, people were saying they’d be able to pick Podkolzin. That’s recently how highly Podkolzin was ranked, literally just a few couple months ago and he only really dropped because his contract status/commitment to the KHL but is that really the end of the world? Just think of it as 2 years in Utica (the AHL) but better competition. I’m super stoked for this especially considering he was the consensus 3rd best player from the start of the season until mid-season rankings which was about 3/4’s into the NHL season. LFG
  13. JB would be a God if he could pull off the supposed rumour out there. Sakic fleeces GM’s in trades. Remember how long he held out for the Duchene and how big of a return he got? Seeing what Trouba went for, I’d assume Sakic would want more for Barrie so the rumour of Virtanen+1st next year is a cheap price honestly. ...I’d be surprised if Sakic took it. And unlike Ottawa, obviously the pick would be lottery protected (top3).
