Kevin Bieksa says that he was set to sign a one day contract in 2020 before covid came. Says it was his Dad’s idea. Hopes to still make it happen.
ps I suck at inserting actual articles so I just hyperlinked it…

Wouldn't surprise me if the twins had a lot to do with pulling the plug on Jake. They have no time at all for this type.
You very well may be right. I think one of the main things with them coming back is to bring back class and the proper culture (of course along with their smarts)

Not a big surprise. I wish Jake well in getting his act together but as a hockey fan I've had enough of waiting for him to put it together on the ice. His flashes of brilliance are just not enough to make up for the frustration of the other 90% of his game. His on ice performance was frustrating enough. His off ice shenanigans didn't help him any. Good luck Jake, but the Canucks are better off without your services. Go Canucks Go!
Did he really ever have flashes of brilliance? I mean he had some good games but I wouldn't mention brilliant and Virtanen in the same sentence.
If he had just kept his game simple and utilized his tools he would have been a good supporting player for us. Unfortunately he's been immature both on and off the ice.
Buh-bye.

celebrating victory with beer (which is the common msn’s champagne) makes Kuch more accepted by the average guy, right? That’s the allure of his presser.
Personally, I prefer horses and dogs to people. Hell, slugs and roaches are better than Leaf fans.
I get that. I just don't like it. Especially when it's glorified by people saying we need more personality in the game. Drugs and alcohol do not represent a good image for the game. He sounded like an arrogant wasted prick because of being of being under the influence of whatever substance he was.
Imagine he was able to articulate his meaning without being wasted. Might have had a greater effect.
Edit: same reason I get why trump was voted in. Doesn't make it right. But that's a whole other can of worms that I maybe shouldn't have opened

Do you know him? To me you come across as a loser. I've seen many like you in my day and people that act like you are not good people.
ok sweetheart. You're one of those.

Liked it all, especially that he was celebrating with booze. Is the only part you disagree with was that he was drinking alcohol? Are you a a person of temperance?
What I'm asking is, would he conduct the same interview sober? People are asking for personality... But is a drunk person personality... From what I've read, you like your booze. As do I. Whisky especially. But it doesn't mean I want idiots doing interviews. Society should have a little class. I generally dislike people. He makes it easier.

Public profile doing an interview after a party. I'm sure you would have criticized him if he turned the interview down as well.
Really. Do you know me? Do you think it's good for kids to see their role models in such a state?
To me he came across as a loser. I've seen many like him in my days and people like that are not good people. I don't give a f#@k how much you make or who you are. He came across in that interview as obnoxious and a slob. Not my type of person.

I've seen a lot of drunk/high people and Kuch was nowhere near as mangled as you're making it sound. He was perfectly coherent in his second language.
OK then...

Seems like it is a good image for someone celebrating victory. We celebrate many things in our lives with alcohol. Heck We christen new ships with alcohol. It’s part of our culture. Kuch drinking and being tipsy during a celebratory time connects to people.
So what did you like about the interview. What he said, or that he was drunk/high?
Edit: and he was more than just tipsy. He could barely even talk.

Regardless, what did Kuch say that wasn’t true?
I'm not arguing that. What I'm saying is I agree the nhl needs more personality, I just didn't realize drunk was a personality trait. It annoys me that the advocates for his interview don't see this. Would he have said all those things sober? Probably not. Bring on someone that has the balls to say those things sober. I'm all for that. A drunken/high player is not a good image

There is a difference between parties and public profiles doing interviews.

Hockey needs more personality.
Personality sure, but if you need alcohol ++ to let your personality shine through there's a problem. Let him say all these things in a sober, coherent manner.
There's a problem with society when this is acceptable.

That clip showing Bur pointing to the rafters after the win was pretty special IMHO. Bur moves from player to coach and still honors Luc. Truly, a quality person!
Pretty sure he was pointing to his family that was in attendance... But we can pretend

This makes me incredibly happy.

Was taken to my first live hockey game by my big sister maybe '51 or '52. Fife Flyers. Team was 90% Canadian ex- servicemen who stayed on in Scotland after the war, either married a Scots lass or thought that job opportunities were better there. Never saw another live game until 78 which was a Leafs - Habs game (I think I have told this story before ... had my English fiancee over and we had 2 of the 4 Company tickets (4th row, center ice above the team benches). Leafs got a PP, and the whole crowd started the chant - except my g/f, whose English accent could clearly be heard yelling "Ho, Heave Ho". Next to me were the Corporate Secretary and his wife, and he turns to me and asks "Is she with you?" I never lived that down!!
Little bIt of trivia ........
Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club is the oldest professional ice hockey club in the UK, established in 1938. The Flyers play their home games at Fife Ice Arena in Kirkcaldy which has a capacity of just over 3000 (seated and standing). The arena is home to not only Fife Flyers, who play in the Elite Ice Hockey League but also to Kirkcaldy Junior Ice Hockey Club. Traditionally many of the Flyers' players have come up through the junior ranks to play at a professional level.
I just randomly came upon your post.
I've actually been to a flyers game. My brother lives in Kirkcaldy.
A few years after I we t to the game I was at work here in Norway (I run a sportsbar/restaurant) when a few guys came in to watch hockey. We started talking, and it came to be that they played for the flyers. Small world.

Canada doesn't allow single bets. So for instance, you can't pick Vancouver to win, you would have to pick Vancouver to win and the over/under.
Really? Wow. Gives even more of an upper hand to the betting sites.

So I got 1 of 3 last night.
Carter Verhaeghe scored in the 1st so no money this time.
What about tonight? What's people's thoughts?

I'm not even sure if those bets are legal in Canada. That's an awesome win though!
Why wouldn't they be legal? It's not much different then other bets. I'm just not sure it's offered on the differe t bedding sites available in Canada.

Congrats!
That's a pretty big winning.
I'd take $7,500 and run if I were you
I don't mind playing small bets here and there. I thought this could be a way to get people discussing and maybe help each other out

I can start with tonight's game.
Detroit at Florida:
Carter Verhaeghe has 4 goals in 5 games. Detroit is 25th in goals against... Could be Jonathan Huberdeau. He has 6 first period goals this season (leads Florida) however Florida is in the middle of the pack when it comes to scoring in the 1st period. (for referance Ottawa is by far the worst)
Washington vs rangers
Both ovi and Zibanejad are hot
Although Washington scores most of their goals in the second
Columbus vs tampa
Yan gourde has scored 4 in 5. Tampa scores a fair amount in the first (36 goals) while they surrender little (20)
So my temporary picks for the day would be:
Carter Verhaeghe
Zibanejad
Gourde
Odds of this are about 600 to 1

Wow! I mean I don’t post often but in 2007 when I moved from Vancouver to Norway this was the best way to still feel connected with the fan base.
Truly disappointing! It’s hard being the only Canuck supporter in the city I live in, let alone one of the few NHL fans here.
It has always been my main source of news both for the Canucks and the nhl. I’ve enjoyed the characters on these boards, and truly appreciated @Vintage Canuck ‘s tireless updates.
