michael_kha
I think this would work for both teams. This is a gamble, something GM MG is not very good at but this could be the right time to do it. TO VAN A. Ovechkin B. Holtby TO WAS R. Luongo K. Ballard N. Jensen 1st Round Pick - 2013 Ovie is locked in for the foreseable future at 9M. We get rid of Ballard's CAP/Luongo's CAP and a great prospect that will never be as good as Ovie will be. And of course they would want our 1st Rounder this year. michael_kha
.. and you know this because? His name has been turning up in trade rumours since last week. Maybe Wash needs a change.
palindrom
Luongo have so much more value, you completely undervalue him and Ballard. I have just one thing to say: i am Happy than Gillis is our GM and not you!
Ron_Burgundy
WAS would never trade Ovie, unless they were getting a proven superstar back for him. He is their team. Ovechkin = Capitals. As much as I would love to have Ovechkin, I think he's pretty locked up in Washington. More realistic trade (?) : Ovechkin + Neuvirth for Scheider + Jensen + 1st Round Draft Pick + Ballard

dufresnedr
It goes beyond value for a player. Ovechkin is a main reason why many people in Washington show up to watch the Caps play, he is a huge draw and a money maker for that organization. That being said, for 9M and seeing how ineffective he was during last years playoffs, he is not worth giving up a solid prospect like Jensen.
