so, Lou isn't up and down like a yoyo? Real followers of hockey know that Jan and Feb are the dog days of the season where injuries and complacency set in and that's when Lou makes his gravy,
You're solidifying what the guy is arguing... Lu is slow to start and then is solid all year and then takes the blame in the play-offs.
REAL followers of hockey?? How elitist are you? How blind are you? So when Bob has a stand-out season it's because Bob was good? So when Rask does amazing with one of the most defensively sound teams in the NHL it was all Rask? So when Luongo starts playing good... it's injuries... and people not trying their best anymore and getting complacent. Man the double edge on this bull crap is astounding!
REAL hockey followers and REAL fans of the sport know that Luongo is one of the best in the league PERIOD.
REAL hockey fans aren't fickle and hate on a star player just because they like to throw blame around.
You know what? Luongo let in 4 goals in game 7 SCF yup he sure did.... Guess how many the forwards scored for the Canucks? 0. Yea If only Luongo had posted another shut-out we would have maybe won 1-0.
God damn it Lu, get your crap together...

The Vezina trophy he was only close in his first season here the 2nd nomination he was nowhere close to 2nd place so of the 7 season he has been here he really has only been elite in 2 of those years
here are the stats to back it up
2006-2007
GAA 5th
SV 2nd
Wins 2nd
2007-2008
GAA 9th
SV 10th
Wins 8th
2008-2009
GAA 4th
SV 4th
WIns 10th
2009-2010
GAA 15th
SV 14th
Wins 5th
2010-2011
GAA 2nd
SV 3rd
Wins 1st
2011-2012
GAA 12th
SV 9th
Wins 14th
2012-2013
GAA 14th
SV 17th
WIns 35th
his best years were 2006-2007 and 2010-2011 you could argue 2008-2009 he was elite but not top 3 as for the rest of his years in Vancouver averaging each rankings he is a top ten goalie but i wouldn't rank him as elite since really only 2-3 years out of 7 he has been in the top 3 in stats
Wins 10th
GAA 9th
SV 8th
Also i wouldn't put much stock into the Olympics its a different touranment compared to Playoffs and as for the Jennings he did have some help from Schneider and the Defense that year
First off... You're really going to give credit for a goaltenders award to the D?? But when Brodeur sniped that Vezina and record from Lu it was all the Tendy?? You're also going to give a the other majority of the credit to Schneider who played less games than Lu that season?? Come off it bud.
2006-2007 put up amazing numbers with no defence
2007-2008 was a crippled year for the Canucks and the only time they missed the play-offs since Lu came here. He put up good numbers that year with no team in front of him, thats another elite year.
2008-2009 if top 4 in stats isn't elite you're standards are too high, Also this is the year Luongo tore his hip.
2009-2010 Now a bad year for Lu, THE YEAR AFTER HIS INJURY.
2010-2011 You take credit away from Luongo he was the biggest part of their cup run PERIOD. Thomas had a career year and got the Vezina.
2011-2012 Bad year for Lu. Cup hangover and media coming down on him
2012-2013 He wasn't the starter because the goal tending was being mis-managed
And here is the biggest evidence of a hater
Also i wouldn't put much stock into the Olympics its a different touranment
Yea you're right... Instead of facing 2-4 all stars, you're facing 23. Herpadaderp. It's the most prestigious hockey tournament in the world. Oh and being asked to represent your country as their best goal-tender... Yea... Nothing really there to say you're good.
You can pick at those stats all you want... These are the facts behind them... You can hate all you want but it's blind.

Puck Daddy>>>>>>>>>CDC
This is around where I'd put him, both because of current skill and experience.
That list is spot on
In my opinion Rinne and Lu are interchangeable, as are Quick and Lund
-
My question is, if you had 1 game to win for a championship and had pick pick 1 goalie who would it be.
Lundquist
Rinne
Quick
Lou
Miller
That's my top 5 in no order
I'd take
Quick
Rask
Luongo
Rinne
Lundqvist
-
Another idiot who makes up stuff and doesn't read the news. Wtf wrong with people. That wasn't the reason why Cory was traded. Its weird how lu even knows why he couldnt be ptraded but certain dumb fans are still blind. Anyways we should, even if by no choice, all be behind Lu bc he is the canucks current number 1 goalie whether Lu likes it or not.
I know why Cory was traded, I understand that Luongo couldn't be moved for value. But what has Cory done to merit being placed in the top 5 best goalies in the NHL today? He is 1-4 in the play-offs and has yet to be nominated for anything. Schneids is a stud, there is no doubt, but he is not the elite goal tender that everyone here thinks he is. Cory has a lot left to prove, same with Rask, and Bob. They need to repeat last year and Schneider needs a real strong outing in the reg season and play-offs before he can be called better than Lu or even Niemi.
As for the person who says Rinne blows? You are out of your mind! Pekke Rinne is an amazing Goaltender one of the best today.
-
And on the flipside....
#1 Lundqvist
#2 Quick
#3/4 Rinne
#3/4 Luongo
#5 Howard
IF Rask and Bob have another set of stand out seasons
#1 Lundqvist
#2 Quick
#3 Bobrovski (Bobs on a weaker team and still putting up numbers)
#4 Rask
#5 Luongo/Rinne

I understand he doesn't have a vezna or a cup. What don't u understand??
A lot of Western Goalies don't have Vezinas... Whats you're point... You really think the East only has good goalies??
Vezina's have their meaning but a Conn Smythe (which Lu was 1 win away from) means more IMO. Also Lu was also .01 s% and 1 win away from having a Vezina... Which I still think he should have got the nod on.
I'll say it again... 4 WC goalies have won a Vezina in the last 30 years. Belfour Kipper Fuhr and Bob
-
My definition of choking is taking an opportunity where the odds are stacked in your favor (or your teams favor, for that matter) and underperforming and subsequently squandering your lead or opportunity (LA Series, CHI Series, BOS series).
There is no such thing as almost winning.
Well than the Canucks goal scorers and top 2 lines choked...
Not only did Luongo have to be perfect in net, he had to skate down the Ice and score too...
LA was not an 8th Seed team come the end of that year, they were either 8th or (4th-5th?) it all depended on the last game of that year, that they lost (by 1 goal? OT? Too lazy to look).
-
You've gotta be kidding. Lundqvist, Quick, Rinne, Rask, Crawford, Anderson, Bobrovsky, Smith, and Howard are the only goalies that are currently better than Luongo. Your list is the worst I've ever seen.
One of those 2 and Price will be Luongos back-up come Olympic times
-
Well, 17th all time in wins, 2nd active leader not to mention he's not slowing down anytime soon
Again, 2nd active in shutouts , also behind Roy by 4. Easily get those next season
5th in all time SV %, AHEAD of Brodeur.
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
WE HAVE A STARTER!!
Why anyone is responding to the obvious troll is beyond me. Variable's rankings seem to be based on uniform color. In all honesty, I'm just proud of the kid for not only finding his keyboard, but almost typing complete and legible sentences. That has to be hard with that many chromosomes missing.
Truth
-
He hasn't had a chance to start. When Schneider finally gets his chance as the starter he's going to win the Hart, Vezina and Conn Smythe, Jennings. You watch. He's truly an elite goalie if he gets starts.Luongo has proved to be a choker.
Chokers include Niemi, Lundqvist, Kipper, Emery, Price, Fluery, Lehtonen, Rask, Rinne, Nabokov, Howard, Halak, Elliot. Backstrom, Smith, Anderson
/thread...

So i'm assuming Price and Quick suck too cause they "haven't won a Vezina"
No crap, Quick has a cup, but why does Price get all the props?
What records does Price have?
How many records does Lu hold?

HAHAHAHAHA. That's all I have to say about that.Oh man how these fans overrate the Canucks' players...He hasn't even won a vezina hahha
if he had a winning team in Florida he would have one.
Only Western Goalies to win a Vezina in the last 30 years... Fuhr Belfour Kipper and Bob. It's no secret that the voting for vezina is bias, he could have easily got the nod over Brodeur as Brodeur had the better team that year.
-
AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH.He doesn't even have a cup and he's going to be ahead of Hasek, Roy, Brodeur or the countless other goalies much better than him in history? AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Take a look at his statistics and averages, He's going to pass Hasek in 2 years and is right behind him in all-time SV% also, If you don't have Broduer as #1 and Roy as #2 best goalies all time... You need to shake your head out.
Luongo is on par to be the 3rd-4th most winning goalie of all time, be ~5th in shutouts and also save another injury, will be the 3rd Goalie of all time to reach 1000GP.
Learn your god damn hockey before you slander someones post.

Schneider has proven he is capable of being a starting goaltender. He will be the starting goaltender for the NJ Devils. Schneider is a top 15 goalie in the NHL.
Luongo is not a legend.
I know you hate Luongo, as you bash at every turn and love that Ginger in now a red Jersey but.... What has Schneider done in the last 3 years to warrant him a higher spot than Lu??... Oh!!! Right.,.. NOTHING
-
Not even close. 20 is being generous.20-25.I would take many goalies over him.
Only goalies I would want in my net over Lu is Lundqvist or Quick. Other than that no one could replace Luo... Schneider has proved nothing and that's why he was traded to once again be a back-up behind a legend.
-
What has Niemi, Price, Anderson, Howard or Rinne done as of last season that Lu hasn't??
Niemi and Anderson won a series(both with the help of refs). Howard is good but lets be honest.
Luongo only didn't have top 10 goalie stats last year because AV MG and the media tarnished his reputation. He was the best player on the Canucks in the 2010-11, 2011-2012, and 2012-2013 Play-offs. He is and will continue to be an elite player

Stamkos will be a top line winger.
Stamkos-Crosby-St.Louis/Bergeron
-
For everyone saying Hamhuis might not make it...
You do realize that he is coveted as one of the best defensive D-Men in the league right?
Canuck fans really give too much credit where it is not due and not enough where it is due... Same people probably think Burrows deserved to be there.

Reread my post, I spiced it up a bit for you haters.
SJS series Luongo WAS the only thing that was consistent.. AND HE WAS THE "BACK-UP"
