  1. While I like Pouliet considering he's apperently an offensive dman stud of a prospect and potentially top 2 potential, I'm not crazy over Sutter. I don't think Sutter's ceiling is a 2nd line center, more of a very good third line C. As good a prospect Pouliet is, I would prefer to make a trade for a center who's ceiling is of at least a top 6 forward, and a lesser dman prospect than Pouliet.
  2. I wouldn't say that...besides Detroit, Columbus is as close as it comes to being home for Kesler. Not saying they can get Kesler for Johansen, but if you can do Kesler +(2nd, 3rd) than you do it, considering Gillis said he would trade his first rounder IF it's for a young player. Plus the Jackets are a young playoff contender who could use the veteren experience.
  3. Ryan Kesler isn't going anywhere, I can almost guarantee it. If anything, I can definitly see Edler being moved for a player to play with Kesler. Kesler ain't going anywhere.
  4. why would a Dalpe type player be a move we wouldn't consider? Guys like Dalpe are traded all the time and they are called minor trades for a reason.
  5. Unless Purcell is playing with the Sedins I don't think he will put up the same point totals in vancouver as he did in tampa...playing with Kesler doesn't give players a better chance at producing points especially since Kesler is an elite defensive player with above average offence, and I think Purcell needs to play with guys with a better offensive touch than Kesler. But then again Bieksa is 33 and Purcell has a reasonable 4.5 mill cap hit for 3 more years...
  6. half a wit? So here you are beaking a guy who works for sportsnet and does radio interviews in cities like vancouver where people crave for hockey, and you're calling him half a wit? He wasn't a very good GM, fair enough, but logic tells me he has more Hockey wits than you do, and you are beaking him....
  7. just because he wasn't a very good GM doesn't mean he doesn't have credible sources, at least he isn't eklund... You have zero proof that he isn't a credible source or doesn't have a few solid sources, but the proof that he is a credible source is that he works for sportnset and does radio interviews for a city who craves Hockey...yeah he is a total bone head isn't he.
  8. okay...but right now our team NEEDS offence, so that leaves the Sedin's to provide the offence? Weber won't fix our scoring issues, so basically we will have to win 1 nothing in EVERY SINGLE playoff game...we need offence, even the best dman in the league wouldn't fix our scoring issues.
  9. Players I consider would be surprised if moved...Kesler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Burrows. So one of those players? Edler wouldnt be a surprise, Kesler isn't going anywhere. Hamhuis and Bieksa would have pretty high value, Bieksa could easily be one of those pieces that a potential contending team needs as that one extra push to win the cup. Anyways, thankfully this isn't coming from Eklund...at least Mclean does technically have some sources. I've honestly just lost faith in Gillis to make a big move...
  10. If the Canucks felt that they were one or two top 6 forwards away, than you HAVE to consider trading Horvat/or at least Shinkaruk. That's ONLY if Gillis feels that we are legitimately two top 6 forwards away. Henrik Sedin is already 33, and once he retires, there will be a HUGE hole to fill since he has been our #1 center for the past 5-7 years, and #1 centers are probably the hardest players to acquire, just ask the Leafs, and that's a whole that Horvat could potentially fill down the line. I don't feel that Kesler is a top center, he's a good second line center but he isn't # 1 Center materal, as he is elite defensively but above average offensively. You have to realize that if we trade Horvat, for a guy like Ladd, and it doersn't end up working out, than who will we have to fill the # 1 center need when Sedin retires? I think the ONLY way you trade Horvat is if it's for Ryan O'reilly...but the Avalanche already have Mackinnon and Duchene as their centers. In my opinion, if Mike Gillis makes any trades down the line, they will involve a current roster player for another roster player, like a Hockey trade.
  11. they already have duchene and mackinnon is their future centers, maybe they move one of them to the wing but I heard that the Avs already tried to move Mackinnon to the wing but he struggled because it isn't his natural position. That fact alone makes trading O'reilly more realistic, and Horvat is a center... BUT, i could be wrong.
  12. I totally disagree. Gillis has been looking for a top 6 forward for a few years now, and it's so rare that a player like O'reilly, who is just 22, is potentially available for a defencemen that the avs want that WE THE CANUCKS might just have. When it comes to personality...i don't think gillis gives a damn. Plus he plays an excellent two way game...so he's like another ryan kesler except less grit.
  13. I don't care if he is making 6.5 million, acquiring top 6 forwards in today's NHL is extremely hard, and Gillis has been trying to get one for more than a year now, and we DESPERATELY NEED ONE. I think the good thing about this being the avalanche is that they are clearly a team on the up rise, so I don't really see how a player wouldn't waive his NTC to go there. Edler has to be the defencemen we trade. Edler is still young, and making 5 million so the avs will also be saving money. Honestly, this seems like the perfect fit for both teams. Canucks fans, please don't complain about the 6.5 million he makes, and instead, embrace this great chance we have at landing O'reilly IF the avs decide to trade him. get it done gillis.
  14. It's too bad that instead of canucks fans realizing that after the 2-0 lead and were awful, instead the reffing will be the talk. Still don't understand the 7 min 5 on 3...it's mind boggling.
