    Some food for thought...........

What is the New York Fed responding to? They just handed out a half-trillion at 30-minutes notice

This is a move to stop some kind of bleeding

The best-case scenario is that the Fed noticed some disjointed conditions in the Treasury market -- wide bid/ask spread -- and decided to act. It's their job to provide liquidity and their responsibility to ensure smoother market functioning.

What spooks me is the timing of this announcement. It came minutes before a bond auction that still had a 4 basis point tail.

The kind of fall in equity markets along with extreme volatility elsewhere is the kind of thing that sets off bombs inside of banks, funds and the financial system. There can be hidden losses anywhere and they can cascade.

The statement said "adjustments have been made to these schedules to address temporary disruptions in Treasury financing markets" which sounds like some major understatement.

With it they announced a three-month, $500B loan program that was to take place in less than an hour (it's taking place now). A second three-month $500B operation will take place tomorrow.

To me, this sounds like someone is on the brink and needed money today.

Incoming bonuses to CEO’s and top executives?

just letting you know the mindset of the majority of doctors and RN at hospitals in the lower mainland..

I get it. I hear the same talk. Fact is it’s easy to look the other way until it’s right on top of you. Then it’s too late.

I work LTC and in a hospital. Talk is overflow in the hospital is going to lead beds in my LTC facility hallways. What better way to contain an infectious virus then by over crowding buildings filled with the most vulnerable population. Bad decisions everywhere

    https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2018-2019.html

CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2018–2019 season included an estimated 35.5 million people getting sick with influenza, 16.5 million people going to a health care provider for their illness, 490,600 hospitalizations, and 34,200 deaths from influenza

    (USA only)

How many thousands of strains of the flu are there.... compared to this one strain of vivid 19?

    Flu mortality  0.01%
    Covid 19 mortality 3.4%

Be complacent as you want around the nursing station/charting room. But I sure hope you take it more seriously when your hands on

the majority of people that get it recover quickly

I would onyl be concerned if you have a suppressed immune system or older than 70

    everyone else is over reacting

Not if you have family in the vulnerable age group and don’t want to spread it. Not if you work directly with immunocompromised and might spread it to your patient... you know, like an RN

It's pretty clear now that it is a 2 man race and 2020 Bernie is under performing 2016 Bernie that a lot of the 2016 Bernie vote was just anti Clinton vote.

Now on to the general election. Baffled that so many see Trump as unbeatable. Trump won 2016 in part because he won with white suburban women. They just did not want Clinton so they went with Trump. They have dropped their support of him en masse. Largely because they are horrified by his behavior. You saw this in the 2018 congressional elections. Where the House flipped by a wide margin and waves of women came out to vote and elected waves of Democratic women.

Nothing has changed since then. Now you have Covid-19. This will be considered as Trump's hurricane Katrina moment. Is he up to the test of a major emergency. I'll leave that up to each of you to decide. Angela Merkel says she expects 60-70% of the German population to contract the virus. 70% of the US population is 200 million people. Do you feel good with Trump in charge of a situation like that?

As long as Biden doesn't go off the rails and start wandering around in traffic with no pants on and his underwear on his head, he's the next Pres.

Totally agree. Even more baffled when I hear that Trump will chew Biden, or anyone, up in a one on one debate. This is the guy who said “I’m not a puppet. Your the puppet!” only bested by the strategy to physically stalk his female candidate on stage after doing a press conference with her husbands accusers.

The credit he gets for what a 6 year old would usually get spanked for, just stumbles the mind.

Heard N95 is useless if not fit tested.

N95 masks sizes are pretty generic. Fit tests are basically to ensure that a seal if formed. Chances are if you have access to one it will work. The most important thing is to make sure it’s on right. Which you can learn during at fit test. So I guess, yeah, fit tests are pretty important.

    That's coming from a right-winged guy.

He will probably get true justice in the showers though, I don't think other prisoners very much like rapists from the documentary's and Reddit's I have found.

Holy sh*t! Haha...been lurking for a while and just figured this thread out. I’ve been thinking to my self “what the hell are these guys talking about?? This guy hung him self in jail!”

    Anyways, thought I’d share.

    Carry on

I saw a story recently where they said Bloomberg was paying his campaign staff roughly three times what staffers for other candidates were making. Some of them even got NYC apartments to use while they are working on the campaign.

Still, I hope MB keeps spending like a drunken sailor. I'd really like to see an ad with that footage of Trump climbing the stairs to Air Force One with TP stuck to his shoe....

Or when he lost that fight against the umbrella

Warren will take delegates from BS.

At the convention her delegates will go to Biden and she will be getting the VP position.

Pete might replace Perez and Amy will get a position in the administration.

Just waiting for super delegate from Illinois Barrack Obama to endorse JB.

I don’t understand what these super delegates are

Who wins the presidency is based on the Electoral college, not popular vote.   Clinton got more votes than Trump but Trump won.

I am aware. The poster suggested that Dems could not find a candidate to “seriously challenge trump.” Those people could very well represent the important electoral college states. That poll would suggests, at minimum, that there more than a few candidates that could “seriously challenge Trump.”
