  1. Of course our local kid is popular, that doesnt mean he's the better pick. I'd pick him with our 10th pick, if we get it. I expect other teams in top 10 to pass on him.
  2. The combine data was NOT published. They handed out pre-combine data flyers at the combine, people have mistakenly thought that was the new numbers. Some of the weight numbers leaked a few days later, Ehlers being one of the updated weight numbers.
  3. http://www.nhl.com/ice/draftprospectdetail.htm?cat=1&dpid=85782&sort=finalRank&year=2014 The weight is usually not far off in the final version, it was also leaked several places right after combine that he was around 175 lbs
  4. Well written, it's covering what I've seen this season in the Q, I just ****** want Ehlers, he's already proven to me that hes got the mentality to reach his potential and translate to the higher level, it's what I always look at, I want the players that gives 110% every shift and Nikolaj's compete level is through the roof. The guy is tough too and puts up points when he wants to, take him!!!
  5. Ehlers will be fine when he fills out more, he went from 163 or 165 to 176 at the combine, he put on 13 lbs in 10 months, I'm going to go ahead and guess he'll end up somewhere near his dad and brother at 190 lbs with that sort of progress. I'd also suggest you actually watch Ehlers play, hes not afraid to use what hes got, Ehlers at 190 lbs scares me. He doesnt care about getting big hits, we saw it in playoffs too, he just got up and leveled a guy the next shift, you're vastly underestimating Ehlers if you think he's light. He sure doesnt play light.
  6. Apparently Ehlers weighed in at 176 lbs at the combine, which means he put on 13 lbs during his draft year.
  7. Just reminded me why I don't post here often, I doubt you have seen Ehlers play live since you laugh at the mans grit and heart.
  8. I look at the style of play and mentality of a player first and foremost, then look at the height and weight. Ehlers is gritty player, relentless. He was visibly stronger on the ice in the last half of the season. He looked like a player that had gotten considerably stronger from when Halifax visited Gatineau in late october vs in the playoffs. The weight you list is the number from mid august last year, there's been nothing official released since then, though there have been a few indications hes put on some pounds from non-official sources from 173 to 175. I did some digging and found his father got drafted by rangers and reached around 190 lbs, he was also a late bloomer and his draft weight was around 175 lbs http://www.hockeydraftcentral.com/1984/84188.html
  9. Ehlers is just a better sniper than Nylander, thats the biggest and most obvious difference, aside of the speed. He's tougher and goes where it hurts more often too, he's relentless. Ehlers checking game and compete is also a level above Nylander. Nylander on the other hand is the best playmaker in this draftclass. I take Ehlers because he's got grit I haven't seen in Nylander yet
  10. I'd take Ehlers in this draftclass, he's the real deal, I watched him play in the Q this year in Gatineau and he just delivered in every shift, I'd like to see him on a better line, he didnt get much help. Only lads thats impressed me more in last 10 years was a certain Crosby and also MacKinnon last year. I'd be afraid Ehlers might be taken before 6 after putting up 2 ppg since christmas, but I can vouch for him if we get him.
  11. Except Ehlers never played on Drouins line, he played with Drouin on the PP and the odd shift, that was about it. Now, the 2012-2013 Mooseheads team on the other hand was so stacked that the numbers easily could've been inflated. Drouin put up some 11 less goals in almost same number of matches post draft year, you'd expect his numbers to go the other direction
  12. Oh, no not at all :-), but on their team he was an important player. He was drafted in 7th round, should've been drafted a couple of rounds earlier perhaps.
  13. Ehm, I have never said anything about Ehlers being better than Drouin or Mac. But I believe Ehlers potential is up there too, or close, he is just an exciting player. I would note to your post that Moose's team last year was stacked with a number of good players. This year Mooses depth wasnt nearly as good. Mac got plenty of help. This year its basically just Drouin, Ehlers, Weegar you have to keep an eye on.
  14. Bob has never have said anything like that. You're quoting a guy off hfboards. http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?p=83646427 That's his comment, after he was done quoting Bob.
