Can’t the Canucks trade Ferlands LTIR contract, instead of absorbing cap?

I have been toying with the idea of trading Hughes to New Jersey all season.

Ty Smith and a 1st is fair market value.

With Smith we get a great two way defender that can still quarterback the powerplay.

How is Hughes exempt from playing better? Just because he has points doesn't mean he can play defense. 

After 14 games he is a - 10. Personally I think he should be converted to a top 6 forward.

He is too small to play defense against players much larger than him.

This team is looking like a bunch of clowns. Our supposed best players, are our worst. Petey looks out of sorts, tripping over his shadow, passing to the other team.

Hughes is constantly getting caught up ice and - 9. I don't know what is up with JT. There seems to only be a handful of guys playing right now.

Possibly a cancer in the room, because these guys are not playing like a team

Aquillini is loosing a lot of money with the team and his business. He can't afford big contracts.

We got to watch some playoff hockey because our goalies kept us in games we had no business being in.
