To Calgary - 2023 11th, 2024 3rd
Connor Garland
Jack Rathbone
To Vancouver - Mckenzie Weeger
He is 29 but he is the perfect player for Q. Hughes, He is defensively responsible, has snarl and is physical, Will help this team next year be better. Calgary sheds salary with this move and they get a head start on their rebuild with a new GM. Canucks will have to move someone else out as well
Hughes Weeger
OEL Hronek
Hirose Bear
Wolanin Boroughs
Let Bear walk and have Boroughs there instead.

I am more upset about Forsling to be honest. His development period from prospect to NHL'er is what you would expect for most D-Men drafted in the later rounds and would have fit nicely in the window of Pettersson and Hughes.
I know someone here would say something "oh but even two other teams gave up on him blah blah blah", but this is why an organization needs to develop their prospects.
Edit:
Can you imagine if this team had Hughes, Rasmus Andersson, and Gustav Forsling on defense? Undersized yes but I think it's much better than what Vancouver has now and would have avoided that OEL trade
Wasn't it also because Clendening was thought to have an equal ceiling and was further along? Also, up to that time, Forsling had one good outing at the world jrs and not much else.

Sorry. I could not help it. I saw this meme the other day and instantly thought of it when I saw this.

I’m so happy that the Stanley Cup is going to a hockey market…..
Is Seattle a hockey market?

San Jose. Matthews is going to Arizona and Petey is going to win us the cup...
Mathews will never win the cup if he is the key player. He does not want to play in the post season
-
I think Mathews is not staying in Toronto. He is like a few others who want to get their stats in the regular season and then go golfing.
I think he will go to a US team with little care from the media, score the goals and drift when he wants to. Whoever signs him to a long deal will regret it.

Proof you need to give prospects time to develop. Benning loved to cut corners, and spent all his time filling in holes of his own making.
Why are you changing history? Have you become Alf?
McCann had to go to how many other teams to finally get it in Seattle
Forsling was picked up off waivers by the Panthers because another team couldn't be bothered to get him. I bet if we look back at that waiver wire you and many others would be laughing about him not making it.

Why do teams keep trading for this loser?
Did you mean, when are we trading for him? Then, we will have lose in the Stanley Cup finals, next year

This is intent to injure - no doubt about it. Bennett is a dirty player. He always goes for borderline hits, he has poked at injured players down on the ice. He sucks.
But a Leaf player did the same thing to a Florida player earlier in the game without an injury.

Losing Tanev was the biggest loss. Perfect partner for Hughes. Replaced by a more expensive Schmidt, who was craperolla. Who in turn was replaced by an even more expensive OEL. Benning
You forgot Hamonic.

Watch the series again. After the BLM protest, yes. Before, no

Yes our softies in the past had no business in the playoffs. The bigger teams like Vegas just had their way with us. Although we play with a lot more grit, we are still too small to compete with the big boys.
I would really like to see how are smaller, lighter players withstand the riggers of a long playoff push before committing them to long term contracts but that is probably a little too unrealistic.
Players like Miller, Joshua and Podz will be fine, I am just worried about some of the others.
We would have beat Vegas if BLM had not forced the league to stop for a game. Russell had the team so distracted. That one missed game allowed them to refocus and they cam at us

Just watching these playoffs, I'm seeing that guys like AB and Garland are absolutely going to get slaughtered out there. I think we need to move both of them. Hogs and Pods play a more heavy game and should fill in. Mik has size too. PDG while not big should stay if only that he offers good value for his league minimum salary and seems to be able to play serviceable top 6 minutes. As for Boeser, he certainly has the bulk but needs to get quicker. Comparing his first two seasons here, he seems to have lost a step. While he was never quick, it never seemed to be as much of a problem as it is now. Whether its injuries or fitness, who knows but I think there is room for improvement there. I like Joshua and Aman on our 4th line.
Myers, while big, does not always play big so he should be gone. While I'd like to get Gavrikov, he plays the left side so unless we shed OEL, its not likely we get him.
So many question marks still:
AB was clutch when the Islanders took TB to game 7 of the conference finals. Garland seems able to get kicked by a horse and still get up.

Many defencemen develop later. That 's a reality. I think Burroughs fits into that mold. He has taken steps forward since his arrival. I just hope (and I would assume they do) that Tocchet, and upper management recognizes this as well. It would be so stupid to be lucky enough to find such value, for the price, and then just fritter it away.
But so far, as Daliwal tweeted, while the Canucks are working to find deals for all the new D they have been bringing in, there has been zero communication with Kyle's agent on a re-signing.
I read that and I think it is terrible. He could fill so many roles.

Hope we see some Hirose, McDonough and a Petey point. Burroughs is a +9 in his last 5 games, that's nuts...still -4 on the season though. He's played well and right now deserves the bottom pairing RD slot as 6th man.
Hoping for a Demko clinic tonight. Will be good to see Gavrikov first hand, I've watched a lot of his games and boy is he a big strong D man, the type we're lacking. Hope he doesn't rough our stars up too much. Their solid team D and subsequently goaltending is exactly how we need to play.
I have been saying his name all season. He needs to play. He blocks shots. Plays PK. Plays tough. He also has some O awareness as he looks for deflection with his shot or gets his shot through.

I don't know why you are all saying 4,5,6 games. You know it is going to be a game 7 exit with Tavares getting injured in game 3 or 4. Then, they will use that as their excuse.

Are you implying that Burroughs is a top 2 RHD?
Yeah no.
No, I do not engage in dreams of having players that are not already on our team. We are also facing a Cap crunch so until things happen, he is on our team and I like him better than both Bear and Juulsen.

I'd trust Juulsen way more than Burroughs.
Why? Juulsen seems to never be noticed which is a good thing for a d man. He seems to play safe. Burroughs is trusted to be on the PK and you see him jump in from of shots. His shots seem to get through more often.
