Connolly has 2 years left making 3.5 million. Last year he had 19 goals and 14 assists in 69 games. From Prince George as well so I wonder if Canucks would have any interest in a deal.

Kindness goes along way. No need to all be jerks to this guy.

OEL is still around is referencing ARI who i've also brought up in defense of our rebuild... guess i'm assuming the audience on here has a better understanding of the league and what's going on - and for the most part the CDC doesn't seem to mind - but you do. To break it down into simple terms for you: COL hasn't been competitive since Forsberg and Sakic - hence the 15 year comment, figured most folks would understand it's taken 15 years to get back into contention. Not you. CAR missed the playoffs for almost a decade and ARI is still struggling. Detroit - our closest comparable given over a 14 year period nobody won more then Detroit, SJ and Vancouver - they are also paying the piper ... Larkin and Horvat aren't much different in age right? Holland the best GM in the league for a decade by all accounts couldn't re-build the wings twice could he ... my mistake with you is exactly what your suggesting - a lack of hockey knowledge. Sometimes i get the date slightly off - but i don't have to use the internet to fact check because it's all upstairs. And you've missed the point entirely - i'm suggesting JB had done at least an above average job of things - we missed four playoffs and then had the fourth best run we've ever had. What is it exactly that you don't like about what i'm posting? Spelling errors? OEL is part of ARI third core too ... sorry i didn't spell that out for you
Edit: I'm surprised you feel the math is there to make the team better then last year. It wasn't. And for the 10th time - this is exactly what i hoped JB would do - as in not sign any of the UFAs, take some short term pain for the long term gain. JM contract will almost certainly become and anchor for CAL - not that i blame them given their cores age - a solid move for them. And i doubt Tanev will survive even a limited season - love the guy but when's the last time he's played more then 70 games?
You don't get it... Please stop wasting my time. I would continue talking, but you really missed the ball here and altogether your points and everything you brought up mean nothing. You keep trying to argue things that I'm not even arguing.

Bring up "tons of underdogs who won the cup while their kids were on ELCs"...actually just bring up the "tons" of underdogs any era. You've lost all credibility your first paragraph to me at least. Also brush up on your reading comprehension. Never said COL wasn't a contender - said it's been 15 or more years since they were the last time. Funny stuff.
"when was COL last a contender? 15 years ago or more..." Talk about reading comprehension you legit just said when were they last a contender? It can be easily taken as two ways. Just bad wording there simple mistake on the internet... as well as "CAR is on their 3rd core since their cup. Faulk is gone ... OEL is still around..". You even said before OEL was on the Hurricanes. He has been on the Coyotes his whole career. I am questioning your knowledge about hockey... As what I said about underdogs I meant teams that aren't the favourites to win the cup. It's not like there is a for sure pick for the Stanley cup each year. You don't know your hockey as well as you think stop trying to nit pick an argument. You lost all your credibility by arguing with me about a hypothetical I made that the Canucks should be contenders. By arguing with me about that hypothetical you must think Benning couldn't of done a better job. You really think that was the best he could do? You think that the bad signings he did there wasn't any better options he could have done? You cannot win this argument because it's a hypothetical... Do I need to reply again to you or will you finally get it this time? In the NHL anything can happen use your imagination your view seems so pessimistic. The Canucks made it to the 2nd round game 7... Imagine if that team was just a bit stronger a bit better. It easily could have been if some of those signings didn't happen. In what world do the Canucks not have a chance to compete for a cup if they brought the same team from last years playoffs, but it's better...

Really? We could match up with veteran teams like Vegas, TB - or even Boston, WSH without LE, Sutter, Beagle and AR (two of which helped us be the best face off team in the playoffs- not that it mattered much as we weren't a good possession team). Who exactly would you put into that lineup instead if we didn't have these guys? Even if somehow we managed to get Stone and not Vegas - it's not enough to be contenders right now. The core is way too young to do that. Only CHI managed a cup since the cap with their future stars on their ELCs - Toews final year. Yes we had a good run - no we are not contenders - and wouldn't be now even with the extra 6-9 million in cap space. Not until EP, QHs and BB put the type of effort and play in that Horvat is now - and there usually takes TIME. Something a fair amount of posters don't seem to get . CAR is on their 3rd core since their cup. Faulk is gone ... OEL is still around..when was COL last a contender? 15 years ago or more... the team has shown it can dominate good teams ... it's also shown it can suck for long stretches. We won't have a window until the core grows up and more is added.
All I can say is you're wrong. Petey, Hughes and Marky were all stars last year. Advanced stats wise they were all up there with the best. "Only CHI managed a cup since the cap with their future stars on their ELCs". Why can't the Canucks do this? It's not like the favourites even win each year. I could bring up tons of underdogs who won the cup. I'm not saying the Canucks are for sure cup contenders, but they do have a chance if they built their roster a bit different. "We won't have a window until the core grows up and more is added." The roster could have already been bolstered if Benning didn't sign ridiculous contracts. Look at the Avs they got a young team. It's like saying they aren't contenders until Makar, Mackinnon and Rantanen are older. Sakic added good pieces to their team and they haven't had the best playoff success, but they're for sure cup contenders. "when was COL last a contender? 15 years ago or more...". You do not know your hockey as well as you think if you don't think Colorado is contenders. Your points are weak and are based on assumptions. Don't reply if you can't make any valid points... what a waste of my time.

Honestly should be contenders now? In what hockey universe does that happen...not in this one.
Lol what type of statement is that? Obviously not in this universe because it didn't happen. If Canucks could of been able to use their cap space better they 100% could of been contenders... Look at who they lost and some of Benning's signings. Replace those signing with shorter length contracts and some better signings in general. Canucks could of brought back in those key pieces they lost in the offseason and maybe add some better depth too.

The Canucks cup window is coming up they honestly should be contenders now, but we'll have to wait a couple years. If Benning's cap management was a bit better we would have been able to bring back Toffoli and Marky this year and looked probably a lot more solid. They got prospects and players continuing to get better i'm not worried about the Canucks now I know they'll be really good in the future. (Edit: i don't understand how anyone can say haha... If the Canucks kept improving from last years run they would be 100% contenders. Jokes on them anyway for being wrong.)

I don't think there is any argument about Bo. Bo's contract is up after the 2022-2023. He is not going to be moved especially since he is our captain and that's right when we will be contending. The Sedin's also both had 7 million dollar contracts each so I don't think a contender would have been able to take them on.

Yes unfortunately I do remember him for missing that empty net sitter 10 years ago. Kinda flipped it straight up.
That was Craig Smith who missed

This is so he can go to training camp. He'll get a deal but he can still sign to any team.

They are going to be losing a quality D-man in the expansion draft. Have to protect Johnson (NMC), have Toews, Makar, Graves and Girard to protect with only two spots.
Wouldn't be surprised if they had to make a deal with the Kraken
