  1. I agree with you that Markstrom does play too deep in the net but from everything I read that is where Rollie wants him to play. He is a monster but doesn't always use his size to his advantage. I guess playing deep keeps you in a better position for rebounds and makes you less susceptible to backdoor plays but I would like to see him play more aggressive to the shooter.

Markstrom has bounced back from bad games all year so I expect him to play well on Wednesday.

Lundqvist plays right on the goal line and makes reactionary saves as opposed to anticipating, that is what makes him such a good goalie, he has to play like that because he isn't very big. I do agree somewhat with you but look at how Rollie had developed guys in the past Luongo, Schneider, Lack, Price (to a certain extent),Theodore, Huet, and Halak to name a few.

  2. He'll be getting third line minutes if he's playing with Horvat.

If the Canucks don't go far he can always go back to Utica. I don't see how it hurts to reward a player who has proven himself on the farm.

He has shown quite a lot of excitement and gratitude to the Canucks you can't help but like him and his interviews are soo endearing. He really does seem genuinely excited to be here. I'm looking forward to watching him play tomorrow.

  3. I got to watch him on tv a few times (not in HD) he really can skate. His skating ability reminds me of bieksa with his agility. His offensive game is really fun to watch but it seems like most of his goals are more in front of the net as opposed to from the blueline, he has a great first pass as well. They list him as 6'3" 200lbs and that's probably accurate he looks very lean kinda like Grenier was thats probably one thing he should do is bulk up a bit (but not much) maybe 10-15 lbs. A knock against him is he isn't flawless ddefensively but he has times where he shutsdown very well just inconsistent, most of his problems defensively stem from him jumping up into the play and having his defence partners not back him up. Hutton(and Shore)was pretty much their best offensive producer, its too bad the black bears suck.

  4. sauntner 6'1 190

    baerchi. 5'11 190

    clendenning 5'11 190

    pedan 6'5 213

    vey 6'0 189

    mccann 6'0 179

    virtanen. 6'0 208

    demko 6'3 192

    tryamkin 6'7 228

    petit 6'4 200

    mackenzie 6'3 240

average size of all prospects benning has brought in since taking over as gm 6'1 1/2 201 pounds. bigger is better im so excited plus all these guys should push to be on utica or canucks next yr shinkaruk, subban, liberati, mceneny, fox, gaunce, maybe hutton and mcnally if they ever finish college

Stewart is now listed at 215lbs

Tryamkin is listed at 260lbs on khl site

    Virtanen has been listed a 6'1" 212lbs

  5. Oh my. Calgary you don't have to beat PA to a bloody pulp.lol. Seriously though Calgary really is dominating, Virtanen hasn't gotten on the board much but has had good puck possession and drive as well as creating a few chances.

  6. Demko only let in 1 goal that he could have maybe saved (the short side one) but the other 2 he had no chance on. The US didn't help out their goalie much. Demko was the biggest reason it was soo close.

  7. Calm down development is not just about putting up big offensive numbers. I would like Virtanen to work on rounding out his game defensively and being more offensively creative while also building back his strength and conditioning. I don't think he'll have a crazy offensive season. As deniro said, temper your expectation. I know the team is better this year but Virtanen was actually playing with two overagers last year so I don't think he'll automatically produce 45 goals and like 70-80 points he's going to have a slow start and less game in the season to get back because of the games missed to injury.

  8. Whatever is best for his development is fine with me, I am just hoping his development is best served in the NHL. He looked good, there were some unfortunate bounces that weren't all his fault he's still young expect some mistakes that's apart of growing and developing as a player and person. I am not saying give him a roster spot, just a chance to prove himself in the regular season; don't evaluate him solely on the preseason it's too small of a sample size with no consistency due to lineup changes. Give Horvat a fair shake don't relegate him to junior for no reason if he goes back and dominates that's not a good thing you want him to be challenged.

  9. I wonder what they are going to do with him. They should be making a decision tomorrow (IMO) on whether he stays or goes back to junior. Moreover Horvat ,should he be injured for a week could go to Utica on a conditioning stint which could buy more time to settle the roster and make more room for him. I personally hope he makes the team so I get to watch him. I only got to watch him in maybe 6 games in the regular season and the games in the memorial cup playoffs. I just want to see a high end rookie in the lineup.
