  1. Agree that we have enough players who can put the puck in the net (or at least close to it, lol).  We need a shut down defenseman who still can move the puck out of his own end of the ice.  I would try and bring back Schenn as the 7th guy on the roster.  I am sure if the Laughs bow out in the first or second round he would be willing to come back to the West Coast for a decent salary.

  2. Agree that overall goalkeeping could be better but......     Our defense stinks.  How many grade AA chances were gift wrapped by our defensemen over the season.  Not just Myers and OEL but generally.  Our play with Tochet and crew has improved lately.  However, if we reduce the number of gift wrapped chances (like in last night's game) then perhaps the final outcomes of games would be better.

Also, our penalty killing was absolutely terrible for most of the season increasing the grade AA scoring chances for the opposition.  And lately, our powerplay has disappeared becoming too predictable again.

  3. Best thing I observed in last night's game was he was willing to get in the face of the opponents after the whistle.  Too many Canucks have been just skating away.  Time to stop receiving the cheap shots after the whistle and give some back.  Also, loved Burroughs.

I understand what you are saying, though I feel if the figure is reasonable, there is nothing wrong with having NHL-ready (and effective) players available for depth. It's kind of like when we had Alberts back in the day - though Schenn is even more effective.

Without him, we don't have many players who can lay out the hits. This team needs to get faster, sure, but it needs to get bigger too. Moving Schenn just because he isn't a standout talented guy is short-sighted. He's a great leader (especially important since Bo left) and makes a difference out there. He's also reasonably defensively responsible, and oddly manages to generate more points than Myers.

Speaking of Myers, I would be happy if we could move him for future considerations, to be honest. To me, he eats up a lot of cap for very questionable play, and doesn't hit like he should for a guy of his size. In any event, he is done after 1 more year, and it isn't like we're going to be instantly competitive next season anyway.

Two years at 1.5 million would probably fit both sides well.  After that send him to Abbotsford as a coach to gain some experience.  His passion for the game and mentoring abilities would be an asset for the Canucks system.

  5. Some continue to bash our goalkeepers.  Two goals last night on deflections.  Stopped breakaways.  Screened by Myers the giraffe on skates twice.  Most goalies will tell you, "let me see the shot coming.  I can stop most of them if I can see them.  If not, then that's on me."  Our defence needs to knock guys down, push them out of the way, or get out of the way of their goalkeepers.
