  1. By the way, here is the NBC version of his draft video for those who haven't seen it. I captured the video as I watched it on the NHL's video player so the quality isn't great. I'd recommend checking this one out if you haven't already because it is 1,000,000,000,000,000 times better than the one from Sportsnet. That... was an awful broadcast.

The video is set to "Unlisted" because I'm not sure how NBC will react to their video being up on YouTube publicly. Bell, Rogers, and the WHL have been okay with my videos so far, allowing them to stay up. Just going to play it safe.

Thanks for posting this! The analysts actually talk about the player being drafted not how they knew his dad back when they were playing in the big leagues

  2. He turned down to go play for his country because he didn't want to abondon his teammates, he is an unselfish kid, full of character and always thinking of others. He's going to stick with the team that drafted him

  3. Anyone see that tweet (Deleted now) Saying the only thing he hates more than Canadians is the Canucks...."Grew up a Bruins fan, hard not to hate a rival team growing up!! #peoplearemean #GoCanucks"

Think he is saying this to cover himself now...

If you got drafted by the Bruins you'd be a Bruins fans. Stop over analyzing a kids Twitter. Of course he hated the canucks he was a Bruins fan.

  4. ^ Thanks for posting!

Seems like a bit of a project but he is a hard worker so that will help him overcome all the work he needs to do to make the NHL. Unfortunately it seems like if he does in fact make it, it will be as more of a energy forward. Which isn't bad but you'd always like someone with a little more upside.

I could be wrong though, I can't wait to see how he progresses over the next year.

  5. See guys, seems like a questionable pick but once you learn a little more about him he seems like a solid guy.

I like this pick, seems like a solid two way dman, can never have enough of those guys in the system.

Finally someone else that's on the same page with me

  6. I have a feeling a few fans on this site really want to win and have good "character". Yet, they can barely skate should Benning sign them? The point is skill is what matters the most plain and simple. You can't teach it at the point of the draft, you can fine tune it. Character can be developed through culture. To tell you the truth Virtanen doesn't scream character to me, neither does Lucic who Benning went hard after, not to mention Benning seems to want to move out a couple of our players with a lot of character -- Bieksa and Lack.

When a prospect pool is lacking high end talent you swing for the fences, especially with a guy like Kylington or even Roy on the board (also a few quality CHL forwards).

Just because Lucic was willing to waive for vancouver doesn't mean Benning went hard after him, he probably only inquired about him.

Kylington and Roy aren't even that impressive in terms of talent when you compare them to a guy like Boeser.

Benning is trying to create a TEAM here not just a bunch of skilled individuals. So for us to have a team we need players that can play well together, that's why when he makes his picks they are for players that will fit the team build. Hard working, big and strong players.

  7. People are upset because they know very little of Brock Boeser and associate the knowing less of him meaning he is not a great prospect. Also the less exposure of who he is makes him a less "sexy" prospect because you don't know him or clearly haven't seen him.

At first I was a bit surprised by the pick because I didn't know much about him. But digging around the Internet I've learnt a lot more about Brock and if you guys weren't so ignorant you would understand what an awesome draft pick he is.

I'm so much more thrilled because I have a better understanding of the player he is and where he comes from. pretty sure you all will change your tune once you do the same and actually do some digging instead of taking surface level information.

Exactly people are always fishing for the big names even when they aren't the best players/fits for our team

  8. Everyone shut up about Kylington.

We want big character guys, not soft guys with attitude problems. We want someone who wants to win and will do what it takes to win. Boeser is that guy, he fits are team build perfectly.
