Gillis probably should have traded more since he sure as hell didn't know how to draft an NHLer with a 1st rounder.

To be fair he did trade and drafted our captain Bo Horvat. Also Gaunce and Jensen were decent picks but couldn't ok it the package together.

  2. He needed to go as things was to stale and his strategy of cheaper contacts with nmc or ntc was great to build the team but really slowed the rebuild down. Not to mention hinder our ability to retool. Horrible at drafting, but that's a scout/management decision not all on Gillis. He was an agent and had a decent name among other gms so more good then bad. We will see what happens with him but hope he is good to go! I bet the media pressure got to him a bit the last few seasons he looked exhausted. Personal well being is more important then money, and success.

A good deal could be Dumba, Greenway and their 1rst for some combination of BB, Stecher, Demko or Tanev. .. BB, Demko and Tanev would open up a fair amount of cap space.

This means that they will be going with Markstrom and Demko is possibly not the goalie of the future so he should be available.

24 hours after the trade it is not such a bad deal, in fact it is actually pretty good the issue I have is if this means the rebuild is dead. Not that he did much in that area but the team is still old and lacking young players.

Minny ain't giving up a first this year. Ownership and management might want playoffs but he is selling if players aren't preforming. Boeser becomes best player since Gaborik imo. Parise is good but never lived up to his contact. Best year in minny was like 62 or something points iirc. Boeser best was 56 at 21. More to stats maybe someone can compare advanced stats but also being a home town kid in minny which is a small market would be huge imo. Leaves a big hole on the first line though because let's be honest neither Toffoli, or Virtanen are 1st wingers.

I think we got 20m in cap space to sign virtanen, markstrom, toffoli and Tanev.

    Toffoli 3years 12m

    Markstrom 5years 27.5m

    Virtanen 3years for 10m

    Tanev 2year 6.5

    Stretcher 2years 2m

Should leave room for Tryamkin to. Ferland career might be done so gives us an extra 3million. So sad because he is a playoff player that we need badly.

Pittsburgh has been trading prospects and picks to keep their win now train going for a while now.

I am very interested to see how they handle the team when Malkin/Crosby get to an age where they dont look like elite players that can carry the team through multiple rounds.

With all of the assets PIttsburgh has spent to bolster their core, and keep the cup train running, it could be disastrous for them for the decade following Crosby/Malkin's decline.

WIll they unload those guys for a haul while they still have value?  Will they just tank and accumulate high picks (they did tank and get guys like Mario, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin) etc

3-5years and they will be fine. They have a great front office. Also 17m in cap space add in Letang and that's like 24ish million in cap. They could totally go get a big free agent if they wanted when the time came.

Even Detroit will be good in 3 or 4 years. Their draft history speaks for itself

It's been a loooong time since I've regularly posted here but would love to know if some of our lengthy members are still around!  If the BJB board from that era means anything to you I'd especially hope to see a reply.  We had a lot of fun and some awesome threads!

I found cdc around luongo trade rumors time so I guess 2012?

  6. Is nhl actually any good? Last one I got was nhl 2009 iirc. Once in a while I watch some YouTuber play nhl and it seems behind fifa, madden on first looks. I'm looking for a new game so considering nhl 20 just curious what u guys think

  7. I think we are really close to contending. Add in Tryamkin, and another prospect or 2 making the team this fall.

We sign markstrom to a 3year 19m deal

Baer gets traded for future considerations at the draft

Maybe ship off eriksson if someone offers a mid round pick.

We just stay put have a quiet off season and let the boys grow and improve from this year.

    Thoughts?

Eventually the little superstar on D is going to be targeted by other teams. Do we have anyone who would do anything about it ? Really something to address before too long.

    Tryamkin hopefully

He is most likely and cheap option. Myers can throw his weight around although not often.

Benn is a big boy to.

I'm not to worried although only things we do lack is better 2nd scoring although they are stepping up at the moment. And experience but experience comes from losing and getting back up. Like the 9-2 loss. 6-5 loss to wash. All those losses build character and strength. By playoff time I doubt boys take a shift easy even if up 4-1 ect...

That N word slip up by the news anchor- that is awful, her career is over.

The tragedy is that his 13 year old daughter died along with others- rumour there was another parent and child from the daughter's team in the helicopter. That is so sad. It is all sad. You wonder why these things happen.

That's crazy. Like imagine how happy you would be to travel with the Kobe Bryant only to die shortly later. Life is truly a roller-coaster.
